05 Welcome back to another episode of the Careful Boys where we are blessed right now to have Kamaka from the island. >> Oh. Hello. >> Kamaka. Kamaka, ████ Aloha. What is the most expensive thing you have ever broken? Somebody heart. >> [laughter] >> Yeah. >> Cuz the surgeries are very expensive, but I thank to the um government for paying for them. Damn, you got full coverage. What would you say your most expensive piece of surgery was? I don't know how much it cost, but I had I had wrist surgery, shoulder surgery, knee surgery, appendicitis surgery, so. >> Is it because you were in Peace Corps so the government paid for it? >> Um that was uh appendicitis was Peace Corps, but other that uh all the other surgeries was from 2020 From sports. >> one till now. Uh working out life,
55 sport. I used to do slacklining, too. Um like on the end and I'll do backflips off the slackline. One time I like I got a bad bounce and I landed on my shoulder. So then, you know, I never got it checked out and surfing and working out, I think it just got really bad. The government will pay for slacklining injuries? No, no, that's the the the insurance I was on after Damn, that must have been good insurance. >> Yeah, it's like the the the free one. The free one from the government. A backflip on his ████ head. Why are you such a ████ >> [laughter] [gasps] >> Trust me, I know. I I might have may have tried Holy ████ Yeah, no. Um It's probably a lot of kids who jump on their head. The I think the only thing I've actually broken that was an object was I think a lamp and we had this hallway at >> Only thing, dang. Yeah, I don't think I really broke anything else, but we would play soccer. We had this like I'll take a pillow ball like in a basketball
45 shape. So we'd kick it in in the hallway and there's a lamp at the end on something and we we missed and it hit the lamp. It fell down and we had to like pay however much money. This This the time we Did you get your ass beat? No, but is around we had to pay for it and they of course lectured us, but this is around the time we we got caught stealing Pokemon Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, too. So The life of crime. >> [laughter] >> Short life of crime. Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. Yeah. Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. >> had we had a little debt as children that we had to pay off. That's nice, though. But yeah, I haven't really broken anything. Dude, from all the ████ that we broke for entertainment and how much all that stuff cost, what do you think what do you think it would have been? For entertainment, like for props for videos? >> Oh, like how Mr. Beast blows up a Lamborghini or something. >> a lot of ████ dude. Like we had a whole
36 band equipment. Like >> Yeah. Like guitars and keyboards. >> Yeah, that was crazy. >> Yeah, cuz we wanted to do it was cuz we had the idea of having a band and at the end, you know how they go wild and all we wanted to do was that last part where you just have a finale and start smashing equipment. And we literally like had a whole drum set, a guitar, a bass guitar we ████ up. We broke the last studio pretty good, too. Oh, the drywall. The Oh, the drywall. [laughter] That cost us like seven grand to fix. >> Damn, for real? Damn, that's the new that's the number? Holy ████ The whole place? No, the whole place? I always wonder I always wondered how much that going to cost one day. I think the it was included cuz we had to do carpet. >> Oh, okay. Yeah.
26 It was like Yeah, there's no way just drywall holes. That's what I'm saying. I was like that's insane. Paint splatters that we have to clean up. So the cleaning is even more expensive cuz they can't just like roll over it. >> [laughter] >> Oh, yeah, that's right. >> And to make that office like back to normal. >> That's actually pretty good. That's a pretty big office. We got hooked up. Yeah, that's actually not bad. Cuz it was carpet and all kinds of it. The the most expensive thing I ever broke, allegedly, Allegedly. is a a M3. What? >> So, my one of my buddies, you know when you're in when you're in early college, you're just down for anything. Sure. So, one of my buddies, he had a M3 and he found out about car insurance scams. And since I lived I lived at at the house I lived at at the time, here's a driveway and if once you go into in the back, you can't really tell
17 what's happening. You can't really see. So, he was like, "Hey, um what if I bring like I need to do this insurance scams I can get a new paint job and a new body kit and wheels." I was like, "Okay, I'm in." And then he was like allegedly. And then he was like, "But I need a place where I wake up in the morning and I just go, what the ████ happened to my car? Then I can report it." Wow. >> "Oh, sick." So, he I was like, "Oh, then you can just do it at my place." And then so, he brought his car in at night and we drove in the back in the gate and then he was like, "Let's just go crazy." So, we had a baseball bat >> street fightered it? >> Street fightered it. Boom, everything ████ ████ key the car. >> your front? I did just break allegedly allegedly break everything whatever. And then [laughter] he pulled it back out and I remember in the morning we had to go outside from the house I JUST
07 PRETEND, "WOAH, WHAT >> [laughter] >> OH MY GOD." JUST TO GET LIKE THE neighbors in case like you know the insurance Neighbors who heard what happened last night? >> [laughter] >> Just so when the insurance adjusters come, they go, "Yeah, I don't know. I just saw them come out or whatever." So, we did that [clears throat] and then he ended up getting full new paint job like triple clear coat type like car show type ████ Triple clear coat, body kit, wheels, all the stuff. It was crazy. >> It actually worked. Wow. So, he he gets So, you get it damaged and his car's on a full coverage. So, now if you're willing if you know a body shop that's down to like up bill whatever it is, then they'll up charge like the stock OEM parts but and then if you have a aftermarket hookup then you can use this amount of money to buy all like carbon fiber this you know whatever wheels that
57 Yeah cuz it's marked above as well. Allegedly. Wow cool alleged story man. >> Theory cool theory. >> [laughter] >> That's a lot. But that that house That went Got a lot of I don't think there's anything bigger than that. A lot of interesting stuff happened at that house. Damn. Not like that. I have something that was emotionally ████ damaging for me. Broken heart again? Oh great. No no it's a deep feeling. No it's it's it's more like how stupid the moment was. Um so like you can just dance if you like this is this is back when this is back when like Mike had like just started jiu-jitsu and ████ too. Uh Mike Song that is and we went over to his house and we were just partying I think for like his birthday or some ████ I don't remember we was partying at his house. And then you know you get drunk and you start ████ around and everyone's in this ████ gay jiu-jitsu thing or whatever
47 so me and one of the other gingers who actually does jiu-jitsu his blue belt as well his name is Joezar. We're like oh yeah let's start rolling and stuff right but Mike had just started so he actually like knows that like rolling can get kind of intense. But I keep on laughing with him because me and Joezar well I don't know ████ about jiu-jitsu so but at rehearsal or warm up I would always just randomly try and like see if I could take him down and he would just like randomly show me stuff or whatever. So we would just have fun not trying to attack each other but we would just get into like a flow right? And so we're at his house and he's like no dude like you guys shouldn't do it we're like no no dude we're going to be chill we're not going for it he's like dude I'm pretty sure it's like you're going to use way more space in this area I was like dude we're chilling dude. At Mike's house. At Mike's house. So then he like kind of lets us after explicitly telling me not to do it and then we start rolling around and next thing you know you just hear this like
37 clink and then we stop we look over and there was just a a ceramic like almost like a Thai elephant thing. You know, like a decorative thing that maybe you put like a plant on it, right? Like blue and a white just ceramic classic tile everything. And then it broke. We like had hit it or it fell over and it just broke into like hella pieces. And it was one of those, you know, it stops the whole ████ volume of the party cuz you hear one of those like cut through the noise type of sounds. >> Record scratch. >> Yeah, and then Mike's like, and then me and Joe's are obviously like "Oh, no. I'm so sorry." But, you know, you're not thinking too much of it. It's just like, "Ah, ████ I broke something." And then Mike's face is really like the the color went out of his skin type ████ And I'm [laughter] like "Wait. Why? How How expensive?" He's like, "Dude, that's Addy's, his wife's. That's Addy's and that was like the last thing her
27 grandfather gave her before he died." And so we [cough] were like >> [clears throat] >> "Oh, no." And then same thing, another record scratch. It's like "Er." It's like from the second floor since all the There's nothing but silence. You just hear a voice like, "What happened?" It's like, "Oh, no." And she's hella cool, too. She comes down, sees it and doesn't get mad at it in the moment, but you could see the tear about to ████ come out. >> Oh, ████ It's okay, but she has to leave cuz she can't like she And it just turned into this whole ████ So, I never actually knew how valuable it was like from a dollar price. All I knew it was it was on me to do research and find the best ceramics restoration craftsman, which by the way is an Italian dude in downtown Los Angeles who won awards for it and got like on LA News Weekly type
17 ████ because it's a It's a craft that's passed down from his like grandfather and his generation. Like it's a huge thing. And even negotiating with that, too, cuz he's like, "I can restore it to near perfection for like 3,500 bucks." But, honestly, I was like, "I don't have that." But, I needed to get done. So, I was like, "This is my budget. Like, can you do it for whatever this version of >> it back to you WITH SCOTCH TAPE. [laughter] THIS IS WHAT YOU GET. Basically got paid like a thousand bucks to fix it. And it could have been a $45 thing that like somebody buys at like a market. You know what I'm talking about? Like you really don't know if it's like a random souvenir thing you can get at like a >> Probably was. How well did it look how how good did it look after a thousand bucks? >> Spectacular. Oh, great. When he showed up, did he judge you like, "This is what you want me to do?" No, no. I mean, he didn't judge but it took a long time to get a meeting with him. And then even after that, it's he said he would be
07 finished in like a month but it took like two. And it was like a lot of follow up. >> Yeah. Yeah. And it was trying to get it the right way but it was it was more obviously after the fact like the the money is money but like the the mistake and what it meant to her. >> Oh, that's What she say after you gave her the fixed one? She was super happy about it and she was genuinely like, "Thank you so much for handling that. Like I just I trusted that you would handle it." That's cool. >> And you didn't you didn't get all tacky and be like, "You know what cost me like a thousand bucks." >> She doesn't know. She doesn't know. >> [laughter] >> You're like, "Most expensive wrestling match I ever had." It was though. It was for sure. >> That's good on you for for doing that. A lot of people just go Yeah. >> Whoops, sorry. I feel so bad. >> They just shrug. >> My condolences. Yeah, that's nice. >> "Que será, será." >> [laughter] >> Damn, dude. That's that does feel like it cost more than the M3.
58 >> [laughter] >> Yeah. In that way cuz that's your friend, too. >> now. Now they moved that thing and when I stay over at their house when I their their guest room is like they have like a they have like a floor blade floor floor bed [laughter] and then that thing is just facing whoever sleeps in the guest room. It's like they know you're coming so they put that up there. >> Honestly, it's ████ funny because I I'm tiptoeing ████ so hard on eggshells around that. That's how you're still allowed to be in there. >> [laughter] >> Yeah. >> Took a while. Took a while. I had to earn my keep. Now you know where where to hit him if you want to prank him later. That's that would hit me harder. >> [laughter] >> They would to prank me. Mine's a little different cuz it was a just a ████ receipt. You know what I mean? Yeah. So, Nikki got this camera. This is like 2013 and like we were first together and she just moved in with me in in my place that used to share a wall with the ████ mortuary. >> [snorts]
48 >> And uh I was on Accutane at the time. Oh, yeah. So, I can't go outside really. Um I have to wear like a ████ visor if I go outside. That's important for the story. Okay, so I Nikki comes home one day after I had just cleaned up the whole place. And that doesn't take long cuz it's like ████ 500 square feet and next to the mortuary. And then um she's like, "Hey, where's the B&H um receipt for my camera cuz it's not working. I just need to take it back." And I was like, "Oh god, I just ████ threw it away." And I was like, "I threw it away." Cuz she was out of town so she came back home. I was like, "I threw it away like 2 days ago." >> Were you supposed to know not to throw it away? Did she like make that a note? It wasn't I don't think she I don't remember. I don't remember. But I remember it was a big deal because it was like a $1,400 camera like a DSLR.
38 And it was like, "I need that receipt so I can take it back to B&H and like get it fixed and ████ like that." And I was like, "Oh f███." And so I I ended up having to go outside in the apartment complex in the dumpster. And I'm in a ████ dumpster standing in a dumpster. And you're wearing your gay visor? Wearing my gay vi- visor exactly to protect my face from the sun. You're like, "This is right where I belong." Exactly. [laughter] I was like, "I never felt more at home. I feel like I'm myself. I'm alive." No, and then I was just going through this this garbage and ████ and Nikki didn't even know where I went. Oh. Cuz I'm such a guilty Catholic ████ >> went to go kill yourself? >> [laughter] >> Well, I think she thinks I she thought I went to look in the car or whatever. But I had already went through the car like four times. >> [laughter] >> So, I was looking through this ████ dumpster and I'm just seeing all the ████ my neighbors throw away, and I'm
28 just it's really bad neighbors. >> Dude, oh, yeah. Yeah, and then I ended up just just not finding it. >> And you're looking for papers, you have to touch every ████ little It was rough, dude. I was out there for probably an hour. >> Oh, you still haven't found it? >> Like homosexual visor, as you Damn. And yeah, never found it. And then when I got back inside, Nikki's like, "I actually have an email with the receipt, so it's all good." And I was like, "Are you ████ kidding me?" >> [laughter] >> I'm covered in ████ banana peels. You couldn't call me? Like, you know what I mean? Yeah. So, that was >> That's rough. You had to swim in some ████ I was swimming. Slumdog Millionaire style. Yeah, I was like, "I don't want to hit any needles or anything." Cuz like I said, that place was cheap. >> And it can't be good for your acutane-ass skin. >> No, man. It's so sensitive, you know? >> [laughter] >> That was the last time I did >> That's dedication, dude.
19 I know. See, and I thought like B&H, if you just like explain, they can match the number. >> That's what it is, but I didn't I didn't know that, and then You could just match the serial I think once she looked a layer deeper, we're Gucci, but I didn't know that. I was just guilty Catholic ████ swimming in a ████ dumpster. Yeah, yeah. In the middle of sun. And it's LA, it's the summertime. I was like, "F███."
