00 Like, oh, ████ someone needs to reply to this. And I'm like, ████ the janitor of the I'll try. >> [laughter] >> Welcome back to another beautiful episode of Bart from the Heart, where we take Sounds funny. questions. >> [laughter] >> We take some deep cut questions, and we allow a member of the Careful Boys to answer it solo. In this case, uh someone's getting a taste of their own Sudafed. Bart is going to answer this question. And the question is, what do you think is a trait of yours that has held you back from reaching your full potential? Cool. Oh, that's a good one. Maybe it could be something you hate about yourself, or something that you've been trying to change and couldn't, or

50 something that you've completely overcome and you've already, uh you know, passed that boundary and you'd like to share it. Either one. He has to fit in the schedule first. >> [laughter] >> See if he has space in the calendar. >> that one with the Valentine's. >> [laughter] >> Got to schedule it. Um I think I'm a major procrastinator. Really? >> Yeah. I don't get that about it all. Is that proportionate to like how you normally are? Because I feel like you don't really show that. Oh, I think I have like inner demon battles, and then maybe like I did a good job of like slowly getting better at it over the years, but I'm a procrastinator like a ████ >> an example of something you've procrastinated on lately? Just so we can tell you that's not procrastinating. >> [laughter]

40 >> Um it could be anything I don't want to do, but I know it needs to be done still. It'll just be pushed till the last ████ second. And it's like classic procrastinator stereotypes, where you go, okay, fine, I finally blocked out 6 hours to do this." And you do it and you do it in like 30 minutes. You're like, "What the ████ Why was it like 2 tons in my brain?" So, the one right now is I'm trying to organize like my office. And I just see a stack of stuff I got to put away. I have like like frames. And then And what sucks is because I know this is like under construction, my construction site also grows. You know what I mean? So, it's not like like it's not like, "Okay, this is my office. Here's like the 50 things I need

30 to fix." It's now because I don't fix it on 50, turns into 60, turns into 70 cuz more ████ keeps coming in. And then now I just have ████ all ████ over the place. And then now when I need to get to my computer, I got to like ████ move papers off the keyboard. I don't even have a space to move the mouse. I got to go like that. Like everything is just constantly piled up on on it. Okay, okay. Versus like if I honestly was like, "You know what? I'll just wake up a hour early before the family wakes up, I could probably like organize the whole thing." But it's so huge in my mind. Like you go, "When are you going to clean the office?" It'll be like, "Dude, I'm going to need like a day or have like 8 hours." Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I don't I don't have If I don't have 8 hours, I'm not even going to get to it cuz it's going to go halfway. >> dude. Do you ever procrastinate with the things that you actually like? Like do you ever procrastinate with fitness stuff? With that, not anymore cuz I've

21 done it for so long. Wow, okay. >> And I And I've had a new cuz I feel like things are kind of like you have codes that you have in your brain. And then I think I've had an I've been able to create a new code now. And then so the new code is I realized and I've experienced it first first hand is even when the workout isn't perfect or even if you're too tired, >> Yeah. >> no matter what the excuse is, after you do it, it's always way better if you do it. >> Oh, okay. So, that's like a locked-in thought. >> that now. But before I got there it would be like jet lagged like they always say sleep is more important. Let me go to sleep first or you know there's always all those things like oh my shoulders tweak I just I'll use that as an excuse to take it off or whatever. But then now I've done it so many times where it's like 10 out of 10 times if you just get your ass to go work out

12 it's going to be better and you're going to be so proud of yourself. >> code doesn't transfer over to like cleaning your office cuz then it's going to feel so much better when the space is like organized and it's a good thing. >> [laughter] >> I like what you did there. I'm going to steal that. Stop being manipulative. >> It should [laughter] it should translate. It should translate but I don't know why it doesn't. I don't know if it's like a different muscle. >> trait? Having something messy? >> Messy ████ >> No, like to put off simple ████ tasks but then to like kick into gear for extremely difficult tasks like easily. >> That's why like when you make the simple task grow to a point where it's difficult you END UP DOING IT. >> OH ████ MAYBE THAT'S what it is. You're waiting for your desk mental stimulation thing. Oh. Where like the panic button has to be turned on for you to activate or else it's like such a low

04 tier thing. >> has to be high. >> That it's like ████ this ████ >> Like one thing that I was like what the ████ dude was so we went snowboarding last week right? >> Yeah. My snowboard gear that I put in like a duffel Uh-huh. I just went in my closet and I just put it on the ground. In my mind I'm as soon as I'm done with the day or whatever I'm going to put that stuff away. It just sat there for a week. And every day I go in there to get my clothes to shower or whatever I look at it and I'm like oh but then those are the winter pants they need to go in that closet. That thing needs to go over there. Yeah, I got to put that in the laundry. Does Geo say anything about that? No, because she doesn't see my closet. >> Oh. >> That's my my closet now. >> Oh, nice. >> But then every day I look at it and I'm like this is crazy. I'm going to need like two hours to >> [laughter] >> There's like three things in there. And then so one day I was like, "F███ it. Stop being such a procrastinator." And I did it in like ████ 30 seconds.

56 But I'm just like, "F███, why am I like that?" Cuz there's I feel like there's a lot of things I could be way more timely and more effective about. >> Yeah. Um had I just like the way Jill's the complete opposite. She does things as they come in. Wow. And I don't. >> What a weirdo. And I ████ >> [laughter] >> What a weirdo dude. And I can see that her bandwidth is way more clear and she's always on top of it. That's a sign of menopause, I think. >> [laughter] >> Like she gets a stack of our mail, right? I open the mail like based off what I think is going to be important or what I'm curious even look at. Right. >> She opens it in like the chronological order. >> And reads everything? >> She's Oh, yeah. Boom. Okay, yeah, this this is this is not thing. This is whatever. Grab it and throw it away. Dude, yeah, so she [laughter] All her ████ is always sorted. >> Yeah. Always sorted, right? Mine I'm

47 like, "Ah, this is ████ ████ whatever." And then by the time I get to them I'm like, "What the I didn't pay that for 3 months? >> [laughter] >> Why did I pay it for 3 months?" And I'm like probably says ████ like Nevada water or something. I'm like, "Ah, whatever." >> Bro, honestly count his whole his whole explanation counts as for me as well. >> Really? >> Like word for word it's the same ████ My desk and mail. And the way Tiff is too, it's exactly the same. Wow. >> have a mail. Yeah, like I have a stack of mail also on my construction site just ████ just sitting there. >> [laughter] >> thing look but then then Jill everything is clear. Her plate is always clear. Registration always paid. Everything that she needs Like everything is like through the T to the books. Everything's done. It's like I'm like, "F███, I'm going to be more like that." >> with the emails and communication? Do you Do you let things go unread? >> That I don't. That one I'm good. So that one I have a rule to myself texts always

38 reply >> replying to anybody? Um Well, also because I think I'm good at sorting. Yeah. So you know how I sort mail? Uh-huh. I sort email, too. Oh. >> like not important, important, not important, not important, right? And then so if you look at my inbox, you open, you will be like, "What the ████ 50,000 unread?" Yeah. It's because the un- the not important ones I never got to. >> [laughter] >> What does it look like when you're not doing anything? Are you ever just like, I can't even imagine you doing nothing. I'm not. I'm never not doing nothing. Well, that's pretty good considering like if if you're procrastinating and that's like a quality that you think is holding you back. >> Well, I think it's because I have a stack of ████ I need need to get to all the time. Yeah, but but then you're not getting to that cuz you're doing other ████ right? More important ████ >> More procrastination. >> [laughter] >> Or is it or is it just you're sorting your your priorities of like cuz your

29 the cleanliness of your desk sometimes to me is on like the bottom tier. Like I still have to do ████ I got to cook lunch, I got to ████ clean the house, I got to do this, I got to feed this, I got to I got to go to work. Like sometimes that takes priority and then you go, "All right, I'm going to do that later." And then it piles up. >> also do think though like if I did things the way Geo did, Yeah. I would probably answer emails better. Mhm. >> Cuz I'm going like this to answer emails. Oh. Right? I'm like throwing all the trash aside. >> See, yeah, yeah, yeah. >> Then I'm like imagine you saw a video of the President of the United States every time he has something like, "Oh s███." Like it's not very executive [laughter] thing, you know? I'm not I don't think I'm putting on my best executive hat. >> Big gulps everywhere. My fellow Americans uh >> [laughter] >> Like, "Oh, these two could just fit in one cup." Like I don't feel like I'm putting on my best

19 executive brain to handle the I'm handling things like I'm the janitor. Oh. >> Like, "Oh, ████ someone needs to reply to this." And I'm like ████ the janitor like, "Oh, I'll try." >> [laughter] >> Whereas like when Geo's at her desk, it's like, "Oh ████ she's meant to ████ do do thing." >> Oh, okay. >> That's how >> feel. I don't know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like you're wasting time cuz you have to sort through emails for 3 minutes and then you open it up and then respond versus like it's there and you just start responding. >> Start responding because you're already clear. >> One at a time, yeah. >> Yeah, versus a me on the way I'm like, "Oh, yeah, I do need to get a reimbursement for that and then that and then and then I'm going to the email with like half my brain trying to like be smart or something. >> Yeah. You guys experience that, too? >> Yeah, I know he does. I know, yeah. I wonder if it's just some guy ████ I feel like it's still I think like from the outside looking in you still look really productive for being a procrastinator. >> procrastinator is someone who never gets

10 to it, period. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. >> It's on a spectrum, for sure. >> Cuz there's a point where you can procrastinate to the to the segment where it no longer even exists and you're just like someone has to remind you that it even happened and you're like, "Oh my god, no way, yeah." I mean, I've gotten stuff to collections a couple times. >> [laughter] >> That's when it really doesn't exist and then the like credit card company gave up on it. They're like, "Dude, I've called this guy 12 ████ times." Yeah, yeah, yeah. another company to come. I've had that. I've got my uh license suspended before. What? How? Just not renewing it or whatever. Oh, like that. >> keep seeing DMV ████ and I'm like, "Oh, yeah, I'll get to it, dude." I'm like I'm like DMV grace windows are usually like 90 days. Whatever. Like they're going to send me another email or write me another letter and then pretty soon your license has been suspended. It's been a year expired and I'm like, "Oh,

00 f███." >> [laughter] >> Have you ever not paid a ticket like fast enough? >> Yeah. It went up. >> Turned into like $65 into like a thousand. And you're like, "F██████ s███." Yeah, that's a bummer, dude. Wow, man, that's pretty bad. Professional procrastinator. >> Yeah, I'm good at procrastinating. It sounds like it's always with the smaller things like the that become a mountain. >> Yeah, like you're not procrastinating with like let's say like a like a Thach Nguyen was like, "Call me back today." And you just forget. >> No, for texts I have a rule. I have to reply under an hour. That's a pretty great rule. >> That's what I give myself. I'm like, I have to get to it under an hour. >> Yeah, yeah, yeah. If not, I'll even go like, "Hey, can I hit you back up at the end of the day?" Just at least give them something. >> Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. >> Cuz like that's like if like if I have your number, you have my number, I feel like we're probably pretty close. Yeah,

50 yeah, yeah. >> know what's funny? It's opposite with Geo. I'll look at her bubble and it's like 36. I'm like, "What the ████ 36 people ████ waiting for you to reply? What the hell?" Cuz I have a I'm like, "But you're the one with the ████ organized ass desk. What the hell?" [laughter] It just doesn't make sense. >> It's crazy, huh? It's different areas. Yeah. But that's just what it proves. It just proves that some people are very selective with where they put their energy and their time into, you know? Yeah, cuz I think cleanliness people, like they can't even start working unless it's like organized and ████ >> Yeah, or else it like bugs them. Yeah, environmentally. I want to distract my mind from the task I'm doing. So, I ain't trying to ████ stop to clean ████ Cuz then it's the same thing. It's like, now I'm going to be so focused on the cleaning. It's a different distraction. >> Yeah, I can't get my job. Yeah. The Geo's argument to that, you should be like, "Why don't you just spend 5 10

41 minutes cleaning right after you're done?" And I'm like, "Cuz I'm already late to the next thing." >> Yeah, yeah. So, as soon as I'm done with whatever, I'm already like Yeah. >> She's like Person that's like as she's eating, she's washing the dish that's no longer has food on it. >> Uh well, after she's done eating, she'll wash it. But then if I'm done eating, I already have another oh ████ moment. So, I just ████ throw the dishes whatever, right? But for her, she's like, "You You just need You don't need the 8 hours. You just need" >> dish after using one dish? >> Yeah, yeah, yeah. Or if it That's freaking crazy. >> pile up, I'll put it in the dishwasher. But she's like, "You just need the 5 minutes after each task. And then you won't be so like" >> It's It's funny because that does make so much more sense to do. Yeah. But I want to prove it wrong. >> [laughter] >> I'm on a mission to prove that theory is stupid. >> If I do that 5-minute thing, then what ends up happening is that 5 minutes

31 turns into 1 hour of me like it domino effects into cleaning everything. >> Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Right. Yeah. It's like you know how a method will start ████ scrubbing this cup and then now the whole house is organized. >> Yep. And I'm like, man, I'm supposed to do that thing. >> And you And then you lose a sleep doing it. >> Yeah, I don't know if you if you're the same. I think it's a very ADHD trait, but you have to hyperfocus uninterrupted on the thing until it's done or else you'll never get it done. >> That's how I am. I need to be like that, too. I can't be trusted in the garage by myself. Like if Jill's like, "Oh, can you go clean the garage?" She'll like come and check on me 2 hours later. I'm like reminiscing through the yearbook. >> [laughter] >> I can't I'm like I'm like she's like, "What did you get done?" >> [laughter] >> I'm like You're like taking apart your guns, putting them back together. Trying them all, your holsters. >> [laughter] >> I just try I can't I can't be trusted.

24 Might as well hit a set of shots real quick. >> [laughter] >> Well, let us know in the comments. Don't leave him hanging and make him feel like he's alone on this. Let us know the ways that you feel like you've missed your potential because of whatever trait you've got going on, whether it's ADHD like us, procrastinating, >> too much. >> anything.
