00 Cuz he he needed to have a photo with the with the cute Indian man. >> for you. Yeah, he was the cutest guy ever. >> In your background, your I got to find it. I got to find it. He's got kids in a family. He's like, >> [laughter] >> let me change this to this Indian man. >> Like, whose phone is this? Who is [laughter] this guy? Welcome back to a very special episode of Careless Boys. Today we have Tatiana Gucci with us. >> whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. And we also got Jasmine over there. Welcome. Welcome, guys. Hi. I'LL DO IT AGAIN. DUDE, WELCOME TO VEGAS. DOG, I'M SO excited to be here. Oh my gosh. And it's been a little minute, too, that I've caught up with you guys, so I'm excited. >> Yeah, it's been a while. You've been in like 50 commercials since we seen you. I did. Has it been a year? It might have been.
51 >> It's been It's been a long time, yeah. Yeah, it has been a while, yeah, yeah, yeah. It might have been. Oh, I missed you guys. Aw. Honestly, ever since I came to JK. She lying. When she in the car, she's like, man, ████ those dudes. Why am I even stopping by? She talks so highly of you guys. She loves you guys. >> Really? Well, she is lying. >> [laughter] >> She's complicit. Well, we got up early just to come see y'all. >> Aw, thank you. We appreciate that very much. >> out really great cuz check-in's not until 3:00, so Oh, good, good. You need a place to kick it. >> Oh, you're welcome. You're welcome. You're welcome. >> [laughter] >> That's smart. Played. I am I ████ hate check-in time. Why is it that they do it? But then you got to check out at 9:00 a.m. like >> Because when you when you want that late check-out, you realize I'm glad somebody checks in late. Why don't they just do it like 12:00 at 12:30?
42 >> Damn, only 30 minutes to clean the whole room? They need time to clean it. Oh, they probably do clean it in 30 minutes, actually. [laughter] Gas mask. Yeah, like shh. Just sanitize. Yeah, they might clean it 30 minutes, but imagine everybody at the exact same time. Yeah, it's like one or one two people per floor, right? >> Yeah, dude. >> [laughter] >> Yeah. They got to do every room in 30 minutes. Right. That would take hours. >> ever do late check out? Always. >> [laughter] >> Only late check out. >> They charge you now, though. What? >> Yeah, that's why. >> I've never done late check check out. I get up. I'll be ready to go. I'll be ready to go home. Let me get up out of here. Dang, you're good. Never done it. >> No, I get up early, so Oh, I see. But isn't it just like an hour? Like it's like instead of 10, it's 11. You call them Okay, you got to think about this. Late check out is not about it's only an hour from 10 to 11. Late check out is about when you were there at 2:30 in the
33 morning and it's just another hour until 3:30 in the morning for this party. That's the difference. >> I see. >> Yeah. And if you are the type that you want to leave the hotel like fresh, that gives you time to wake up from bed all like busted and whatever in your sleep clothes, go downstairs, get breakfast buffet, come back upstairs, shower, and then leave. >> You're up early enough for breakfast? I I miss [laughter] the breakfast every single time. >> I love breakfast. I've never I've never had the hotel breakfast. For real? >> You're not really missing out, honestly. Because it's like from 8:00 to 8:30. Like Yeah, the window is so tiny, yeah. So tiny. Nah, you got to you got to be at like a Asian hotel like Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I did do breakfast IN JAPAN. OH, YEAH. I DON'T KNOW THE LORE. WHAT
24 THEY GOT? WHAT THEY WHAT'S It's a full meal. It's an ex Breakfast buffet there is like going to dim sum every morning like the way they got every tea, they got every bakery, they got like a guy doing like not just omelets, but also like noodles and soups and wontons and For breakfast? Yeah, and what's cool is they have like a west for people who want to admit like taste a home and then they got east for all the Asians. It's like Epcot Center. >> [laughter] >> spaceship like that. So you could have pancakes and bacon or you could have rice and miso soup. >> standard for a lot of like the main hotels and like a lot of Asian countries. >> Remember that one spot we stayed at in Malaysia? It was so good that when we went back It was a DoubleTree, but it was like you think DoubleTree, oh my god, so expensive. We were paying Motel 6 prices, bro. It was like Like the conversion? Yeah. >> Like American dollar? Yeah, no, it was like a hundred something dollars, and
14 I'm like, I'm at a DoubleTree with gourmet ass like Malaysian food. We had like a chubby ass Indian man like making all this beautiful bread. We were like, "Wow, this is He was [laughter] just making The man was chubby ass. The bread was beautiful. >> No, Bart took a picture of him cuz he's he's like he's the cutest man I've ever met. I love that. Cuz he thought that he was a toddler, and he was the happiest chubby Indian dude. >> Like >> You ████ tourist. >> No, it was like He was short. Yeah, but like he was like yeah, he was like 300 lbs. But like round, like he just had these cute brown round cheeks. And it was the kind where like when the light shines, it's like sparkly. I don't think I've ever seen a chubby Indian. >> [laughter] >> I ████ I don't think I've seen a Google it, Google it, Google it, Google it. Chubby Indian? >> [laughter] >> All right. He looked like Subodh. You know Subodh from Love Love on the
05 Spectrum? Oh, he's one of my Why do people get tight now? I love an Indian accent. Oh, that's one of my favorite. >> Right. Why do people get tight now for that? Nobody's tight. Just do it. Just do it. You go off of it. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. >> [laughter] [screaming] >> I CAN SEE WHY. >> [laughter] >> I NAILED IT. NO, BUT IT'S SO ACCURATE cuz I ain't even going to cap. Me and Gucci we was we was somewhere in Santee Alley, and we went and the Indian man, we didn't know if he was saying yes or no CUZ >> [laughter] >> OH, YEAH. >> TALK LIKE THAT. AND I TRIED so hard not to laugh. I was like, "Bro, is it yes or no?" Like I don't understand. Different thing when you see that, it's different, huh? You're so stuck. Cuz you don't really you don't that that's not That could I mean that's a chubby and is this how he looked though. I'm trying to find him. I can't find him. What is that? >> Wait, he was you want me to find the cutest You got to write You got to write
55 Subold. I can't find him. Yeah, cuz this is cuz he could be Latino. He could be Arabic. He could be a Love on a spectrum. I mean, he's that's a really [snorts] nice cartoon drawing like a able body. Look at that body. That's a caricature. >> Well, I remember so we uh Bart took a picture with him cuz not only did he make bread really good, but he would he thought he found him he thought he was a cute man. >> You You talking about this guy? That's closer to what he looked like closer than the other guy. Yeah. Huh. So, Bart looked at the dude and was like, "This dude is so cute. Let me take a photo of him." Yeah. With him. I would say with him. No, he went behind the bread make roti making counter. You know that flat iron thing? And then they were standing together and I took a photo of them cuz he he needed to have a photo with the with the cute Indian man. >> for you. Yeah, he's the cutest guy ever. You're background. You're I got to find it. I got to find it. He's got kids and
46 a family. It's like, >> [laughter] >> "Let me change it to this Indian man." Like, "Whose phone is this?" >> [laughter] >> Who is this guy? Dude, so since we've seen you, how what commercials have you been in cuz I feel like you've been doing a lot of those. Mhm, I my Sephora spot got renewed. Um Wow, congrats. That's huge. Oh, that's great when that happens. Ah, they're going to They have to pay you again. Is that like a full-on sponsorship ambassador deal or is it like you're you're just in there? >> That's just Yeah, as talent on screen talent. But I did just like uh from that I the director brought me into another project which was really cool which I told you guys off screen, but um it was an Old Navy spot. Yeah. It was July 4th, so woo. Wait, you had one before that, too. What was that? You had a commercial before that, too. I did, huh? Oh, yeah, like a Google Pixel one. Oh, I totally forgot about that. Damn, it's been a crazy
37 Totally forgot about Google Pixel, yeah. They flew her out to Canada and everything. She was gone for like damn near a week. Prosperity, dude. Yeah, heck yeah. The Sephora one is the is the hot hot commercial, right? Yes. >> Yeah, okay, cool. >> Yes. >> That thing came up a bunch, too, on Hulu. >> It's still going crazy. >> Yeah. Oh, dude. >> so That's the best when they renew it cuz they they will get paid for that. >> You got to Yeah, you got to email You got to email somebody. Yeah, is your agent just hooking you up and they're doing a good job? >> Actually big deal, I just dropped them. Hey, COME ON, SOMEBODY. DROPPED YOUR AGENT? WHY? CUZ YOU GOT A BETTER ONE? You You like moved up on agencies or something? Um, yeah, I'm with a new one. But yes, I felt like I'm I felt like a big girl. I was like, yeah, this isn't working anymore. What was it like dropping your agent?
27 What kind of conversation go? How'd you bring it up? >> just like an email. Oh. Yeah. >> So they weren't like tied to you or anything? They didn't try to like like uh have a rebuttal? To be like, before you go, listen to these five points. They're like, nah, no, I had been slacking, sorry. [laughter] They were They were like, all right, we'll go down 15% only. They were Did you have one in line already? Like someone you were Yeah, I waited. Yeah, I waited for another something else to come up cuz So what did you feel was lacking with agent number one? Like what where was it like dropping the ball? Honestly, I at that point they I I It's like a relationship. I'm like, can I get a text back? CAN I GET A PHONE CALL? HELLO, you know, I'm feeling like I'm talking to the void, so yeah. It's like they didn't even really know you, either. No. Okay. Yeah, one girl I never even met. She She was like there for 2 seconds and she's like, oh, my hip broke. [snorts] Huh? [laughter]
17 She disappeared. She telling you that? She was like, I hurt She was like in her 30s. How did her hip break? That's such an elderly thing. >> [laughter] >> No idea. A lot of it though I do attribute I attribute my friend Jasmine, you guys were just meeting her, but she's an amazing comedian. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Thank you for coming. Ran a workshop and I like I literally booked that Google Pixel commercial like right after taking her workshop, which I was like Oh, what kind of workshop did you run? >> my commercial classes, just teaching people like what I've learned from my the success that I've had cuz I've booked over 25 commercials. >> you booking commercials. >> so I was like, well, let me let me I want to see more of my friends on TV and uh auditioning is etiquette that people don't understand. And also people like, oh, I'm better in the room. It's like you are on camera most of the time. You have to sell someone's product while
07 you're on camera. So, how can you sell the product if you can't sell yourself on the camera? So, teach them how to do that and just give them different perspective of how to like we would like I would be a director and just throw different notes at it and and then they would take it and then apply it When you're saying etiquette, are you talking about like uh even before the audition the actual audition process starts, just knowing how to like enter a room and like how to talk Sign in. Basically, but most of this was for self-tapes. Yeah, this was mostly self-tapes. A lot of people I feel like kind of struggle with the self-tapes. They get in their head like, oh, what am I supposed to do? Like the same thing you would do when you're in the room cuz when you're in a room it's just you and the casting director and the the team is either watching on Zoom or they're going to watch back your self-tape that you did with the casting director. The casting director is not booking you. The client and the the director themselves are booking you. And people get it twisted.
57 >> Yeah, people get in their heads cuz being on camera in like different ways. Like you guys are so in flow at this point. You probably don't I don't even worry that >> And we own these cameras. We can't fire ourselves. >> Listen, that's hilarious. But that's the same thing. Like taking it walking into the job and being like, oh, I know who I am and yeah, if you book me, it has nothing to do with my performance. It has everything to do with what you're looking for. >> I see. >> That's it. So, people think that it's the casting director that has the power, but they're the ones that are collecting the looks for the company, right? >> there is some power. Like some casting directors will fight for you to put you in the room. I've gone straight from just like she did with the Old Navy. You go didn't even do the audition, go straight to the callback. Oh, you didn't do the Old Navy one? >> No, it was not audition. It was just like straight to straight to the room. >> But that's from having good good relations with casting directors and directors and just showing up and doing the work, doing a good job. Like they can count on you to like so etiquette as
49 in like you know where to look, you know where the angles are, you know how to light properly, you know what not to do. Why would you be looking into the camera if they told you not to look into the camera? >> I'm used to vlogging. >> [laughter] >> You're straight to your audience. Yeah, and that's it's a little different cuz some of them require that, but there's there's a little etiquette so when you're on camera the director doesn't have to direct you too much. It makes your job easy cuz they have a very hard job. All right, so they don't you don't look amateur. Oh, absolutely not. Me? Ha. Yeah, no. No. >> But what if my side on this side is better than this and then they keep filming this side and then I want to do this? >> Well, then you're you're not you're not We're just catching this side. That doesn't sell. You just You just you tell the whole room to shift one corner over. >> [laughter] >> Can we move all these tables? This isn't working. What I will say is what you think is your good side might be different on camera. Yeah. Yeah.
40 >> [laughter] >> Yeah. You might be wrong. >> You might be like, "Oh, I'm eating on this side." This side is like, "Ooh, that doesn't really work well. It's a little disforming." You might have a six-pack on this side. >> [laughter] >> Yeah, but also that's important for you to do in your audition to know what your good side is so you'll know where your eyeline is, right? >> Especially if it's for like a herpes commercial. >> [laughter] >> Right. Can you get it on the side? Can you do the side where I actually have a herpes? A herpes is crazy. >> [laughter] >> Just one singular one. One You're not catching my herpes, MAN. >> [laughter] >> DID YOU WANT ME FOR THIS OR WHAT? That's hilarious. >> I grew this for no reason? You grew >> [laughter] >> I put myself through stress. You cultivated >> You're just like a method acting audition-er. You used to do a bunch of like self-tapes auditions before, right? No, I only did like maybe like two or three. It's just um
30 well as a dancer obviously one of the ways is to go through like the audition route in the industry and mad credit to people who are like are not only have the grit for that but like are really good at it. Some people are very good at like the casting part, the audition part, whatever it is. They like it's a skill in and of itself. It's it's a mental preparation. There's an etiquette from the beginning of like walking in and flying and signing in all the way to the out, you know, like there there's a whole thing and for me it took me two auditions to realize this ████ is not for me. I suck at it. I'm it's just not my thing. I'll just build build my entire ████ career outside of it. Power to the people that do that stuff. The amount of rejection that actors have to go through, I would have such low self-esteem. >> is that is we don't go through rejection cuz we don't hear no's. People personalize it. If you put in everything into the project, that's the only way
20 you'll feel rejected. I literally get callbacks and I'm like, "What is this for?" You do it and it's out of your mind. But if you're sitting there like, "Oh, I need this job. I need this job." and then they told you no, then of course it will attack your self-esteem. But if you're just This is just a job. It's not your identity. It shouldn't be. And your self-worth shouldn't be attached to it. So, you go in, have fun, whether you book it or not, you have fun. And then the casting director sees that and then they bring you back straight to the callback and then they fight for you in the room and then you get Old Navy. I'mma take your workshop. You should You shouldn't have waited in the parking lot after the audition. >> Absolutely not, bro. No. No. No. >> [laughter] >> You call them right away. So, did I book it, huh? That's crazy. I can't go back to Red Robin. Come on. I mean, it's it's okay to feel that way but like most people most actors aren't working actors. Like the the people that we see on TV is the top 1%. The rest of
11 us have regular jobs and that's what it's going to be until you're something special. And most of the time we're not going to be. I'd be so sad if Crest rejects me. I'm like, "Crest! >> [laughter] >> CREST! COME HERE, CREST!" YOU WOULD NEVER hear it. Crashed is not going to go, "Oh, we loved you, but we're going to go in a different direction." I think I've auditioned thousands upon thousands of times. I've only heard back from short films, and by that time I was like, "What the ████ is this?" Oh, okay, yeah. >> [laughter] >> Like I literally be like, "What audition is this?" Like they'll be like, "Oh, same thing you did in the audition." What are you talking about? I have to rewatch myself tapes. And if I don't have a self-tape, I have no idea what's going on. >> So, the key is to be a player and have a LOT OF OPTIONS. >> [laughter] >> TO BE A PLAYER, YES. BE A PLAYER, YEAH. I GET ████ SO, what is this? >> [laughter]
01 >> Um this is Old Navy. Uh not ████ sir. I get You're like, "Old Navy who?" >> [laughter] >> You don't want me Kleenex? Well, Bounce does. >> The only The only project I saw that I was upset that I didn't get um was when I saw Black Panther 2 and they introduced Ironheart. And when I watched the character, I didn't even audition for it. I wasn't even up for it, but I was like, "I would have loved to have auditioned for that cuz I saw myself in that character." That was the only >> Now that you say that, I see you as well as that character. >> is that? Is that your manager's fault or agent's fault didn't submit >> It's nobody's fault. If it was for me, it would have been for me, but the woman who got it, she did a She did a great job. She did a reading with Chadwick when he was still alive for She went for the part of Shuri and they liked her, but she didn't fit for Shuri, but they brought her back for Ironheart. So, that's what's important to have good etiquette. >> Hey, that's cool, yeah. That happens a
51 ton, yeah. I see. Yeah. Mhm. >> amazing. She did great. Love her. So, if they were like, "We're thinking of bumping her and putting you on, would you be >> I would take every opportunity that's thrown at me. What? If it's mine, it's mine. If I mean, I wouldn't be like, "Kick her out for me," but hey, if it's mine, it's mine. Maybe she got something else to do. Oh, good, yeah. >> She's training too and stuff. She'd like fight mixed martial arts. Yeah, Muay Thai boxing. I could get it I could get it there. I could bring out a I could have been a Woman King, you know. Oh ████ that's gangster. That was a good movie. >> a great movie. Do you still have these dreams to be on a Crest commercial? Nope. But sometimes I'm like you, I watch a movie and I'm like, I should have been Woman King. >> Yeah. Honestly, now that you said something, I could definitely see you >> Joe in West Africa as really Perfect, right? >> So perfect. They cast A JAPANESE MAN. >> [laughter]
42 >> BUT THEY NEVER ACKNOWLEDGE IT. THEY don't They don't acknowledge the Japanese. >> [laughter] >> Everybody just gets it when they see him. Oh, yeah, yeah. >> Like in 30 years when they redo it, so it could be more diverse, they're just going to put you [laughter] They're going to keep everything the same and it's going to dub you in. >> you remember the Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella where like the entire cast made no sense? It was Brandy as Cinderella. >> Her man was Asian. >> Filipino guy. >> Yes. Her man was Asian. Parents were white and Whoopi Goldberg. Yeah. >> [laughter] >> It was like a crazy like mishmash, yeah. Nobody questioned it. It was such a good movie. >> It was good. People just did Yeah, they did. >> it up. Pull it up for the people. >> yeah, yeah, yeah. Hold on. I remember. >> Brandy is the only Cinderella that we acknowledge growing up. Like that was my Cinderella. >> Yes. So you like that one, too? The one >> even remember it, but just because Brandy was black >> Yeah, let's get a a cast photo. Cast photo. >> Boom. Okay. >> Bam. So Oh, that's crazy.
32 >> This is crazy. >> [laughter] >> So So Whitney Houston is the fairy godmother, right? And then this is Brandy. Brandy This is her Brandy's stepmom. Okay, makes sense. No blood relation. This is the prince and these are his parents. >> [laughter] >> So that's how you make a Filipino. This is how you make a prince. That's how you make a Filipino guy, if you're wondering. Did they adopt him? Like what? There's no way a Whoopi Goldberg would pop out a Asian. Like I'm screaming. This is hilarious. That's hilarious. >> Perfect. And we were like, yeah. We did not question that, though. I remember watching [laughter] this. >> That was tight. Uh all-star cast. It was good. >> can you look up the cast? I don't remember names. I'm so bad with names. >> Oh, like the names of >> When did this come out? they did this on Did they do this on Broadway? No, no, this was a movie. Yeah, this was It was a TV movie. >> But I think they did put There was a live edition on the TV. >> Oh. Oh, cuz Keke Palmer did Cinderella
23 on Broadway. >> Mhm. Wait, this looks old. Yeah, no, this is >> [laughter] >> 1965. >> original Cinderella. And I just know they had everybody in the chokehold. They like, oh, black Cinderella, Asian Prince Charming. What? They were ahead of their time. >> Oh, absolutely. But I'm talking about the >> every show now. Literally. But you know, like when the Little Mermaid came out, everybody was pissed. Yeah. >> Oh, I know. Everybody was like, Cuz I'm like, if they was pissed about that, and I was There was no social media. So, here's who's on that. >> Uh-huh. Wait, go Oh, oh, oh. Brandy Norwood. Oh, come on, you stupid ad. Paolo Montalban. Oh, Montalban. Is that the same Oh, no, Montaña. >> [laughter] >> Victor Garber, Whoopi Goldberg. Travis Payne, let's go. >> That is a power Travis Payne with dancer
14 number three. Wow. He's a freaking god. That is an all-star cast. Yeah, it was a great great, yeah. Wow. Yeah. And nobody questioned it. Oh, yeah, Bernadette Peters is the stepmother. Um and these were her children. These were her blood children. Laverne Cox and Natalie Reed. >> [laughter] >> These are her her blood children. Nobody questioned it. >> Nobody questioned it. >> [laughter] >> This whole ████ ████ up. Yeah, so you have a shot now. If we're If we're at that climate of not questioning Yes. If we're [laughter] at that climate of not questioning What if he What if he gets that role and they're like, no, you didn't have to do an African accent. We want He just doesn't need to like You are woman king. >> [laughter] >> I AM THE WOMAN KING. NO, JUST BE JAPANESE. >> [laughter] >> WHAT ARE YOU DOING? HE JUST GETS MORE NIGERIAN as he Do another one. Do another one. I don't know how. >> [laughter]
04 >> He goes off script. I NEED FUFU NOW. YOU ARE GAY.
