00 All right, Ryan, when was the first time you felt like a hot shot? >> All right. And this moment came at a time when I feel like I needed it very badly >> Wow. >> because I was a mega loser and I was, I believe, 18 or 19 and I was going to uh Cypress Community College because uh I basically got kicked out of Cerritos College. >> What? You could get kicked out of a community college? >> You can get uh >> What did you do? Get in a fight? >> get discouraged from renewing, I would say. >> Did you bring a bomb to school? >> No, I um so like I I was a >> How do you get kicked out of a community college? That's crazy. >> I was so stupid that when spring break was about to start I was like, "Oh, thank god I got a week off." So I just I didn't go. And then I came back and they were like, "No, spring break starts now." >> [laughter] >> I remember.

50 >> And then so like I had to W most of my courses cuz I missed like a week of like really And you know like the the week right before spring break is like tests and ████ So I missed them. Yeah, so then I had like a whole like if you if you withdraw from like half of your whatever your units are, then you get academic probation or whatever. But I withdrew from like all of them. So they were just like, "Okay, well, you know, you're going to have it was going to be so much of a slog I had to retake everything. So I'm like, "I'll just go to a different community college and take those classes there so I don't feel like I'm repeating the same exact s███." So I went to Cypress Community College and I was just super like I did nothing but break. Like I was just practicing breaking and going to school right across from his freaking laundromat. And there was a day where they were like, "Oh, we're

41 going to have like a campus fair and then we're wondering if we can get because they would see me practicing in the student center sometimes with like a couple other guys. And they're like, "Would you guys like to put your linoleum down in the quad and and do some breaking for people?" And I'm like, yeah, that's so cool. So then I went and did that, and then we're just, you know, freestyling in the quad. No one gives a ████ No one cares, whatever. All this stuff's going on. That's like the dumbest gayest thing on campus that day. And then, um the next week, somebody had like wrote like a like a column about the student fair, like in the in the class paper or the school paper of us of a community college. So it's super non uh consequential. >> And no one's going to read it. Yeah. >> Yeah, no one cares. But the picture, like they put on the front page of the

31 paper was like me doing like breaking. And I just that had never happened to me in any way. Like I don't even really have pictures of myself. >> Was that your first time in media? >> [laughter] >> Yes. And I just remember like like I'm like, this is the win I need, man. >> That's cute. >> And then and it made me like feel like, dude, that's I actually look kind of cool when I'm doing my thing, you know? But it looks so stupid. >> have that newspaper cut out? Do you have it? >> No, it was like a black and white like it wasn't even a great photo by any means, but I was such a mega loser that it was like to even get that was like I felt like ████ >> Is that when you became addicted to fame? >> [laughter] >> Yeah, that was the beginning. [clears throat] That's the catalyst. >> No, it's it's what I I just remember feeling like, dude, like I I didn't know why I was really doing anything cuz

21 everything was such a failure all in a row. And uh and then I was like, for the first time I was like, oh, okay. Maybe I should just keep doing that. >> Damn. >> Cuz they're not going to write about me in the paper for any other reason. I got no other skills that are like I thought were cool enough, you know? >> That's what started Quest Crew. >> [laughter] >> Your cat the that's the that's what started it all. >> Dude, getting kicked out of freaking Cerritos College started Quest Crew. >> Yeah, I say kicked out, but really it's I kicked myself out cuz I nobody was probably doing that bad. That's a 0.0 GPA. I got all W's for the whole like quarter at a community college. How do you fail into winning in life like that? Like you just >> I didn't I don't I don't Someone takes a picture and then the next thing you know, you're in ████ TV. >> I wouldn't even say I academically failed into winning. I just as a

11 byproduct of being at school, I was able to I guess like find meaning behind my hobby. >> Did you Did you graduate? >> Uh no, I have one more semester at UCI. >> Are you going to finish? >> ████ no, dude. >> Hey, I finished and never picked up my diploma, so we're in the same boat. >> I already have work experience in the field that I was studying anyway. >> They didn't just mail it to you? >> I think I owe some uh library dues that I don't want to pay back. >> So they hold it hostage if you don't pay? [laughter] >> Ours like we had to go pick it up. >> Dude, what? At the school? >> Yeah, cuz you pick it up because they do one last check to see if you finished all your credits. I used to have to pay my fees. >> Yeah, and if you owe anything. >> I think I owe like >> Well, the Cal State system is ghetto, bro, cuz I got it mailed. >> Well, that's like SAG, dude. SAG's all up my ass all the time cuz they have residuals for me and I'm like I'm not joining SAG to get my residuals. Go ████ yourself. >> Unless it's like your residuals better be right over 3,500 bucks.

01 >> [laughter] >> That was the um yeah, cuz then because of all those W's, you have to make up for it. Like once I was trying to get into UCI, they had to um you know, ask what happened with those. Why do you have a semester of zero GPA? And they thought it was so funny that it actually kind of worked for me. Cuz that by that point I had already redeemed I did every one of those classes over, got A's in every single class. I got either I was either getting an F or a W. So it's either failing it already cuz I was just goofing off so ████ bad. And then um and then right after that newspaper thing, we you know, we just kept practicing and then at some point these fashion students were at Cypress College and they were just like oh, um we're going to do a fashion show at Long Beach Community College for the like whatever the uh fashion department there. Do you want to do like a cool uh um the theme is like street. So maybe

53 you guys could break on stage at this thing and then that was like the next level up. Then there's like a fashion show with like models and then [laughter] we're on the side just breaking the whole time. >> Oh, you weren't the model? >> No, that's just we're on the side of the runway just breaking and that I have actual video of. And it's that was like the next level up and I at that point I'm like I'm a ████ star, dude. >> That's sick. >> No, but you get paid nothing, but at least you gave direction, you know. >> My first time feeling like a hotshot and it's like the gayest thing to be a hotshot [laughter] for was so in first grade I got kicked out of Cerritos Elementary. And then in uh >> Cerritos be kicking y'all out. >> Cerritos [laughter] got high standards, bro. >> And then third grade I got kicked out from the school across the street which is Concordia Lutheran which is like a private school. So by the time I went to my fourth grade

44 school, I was a brand new kid there and I just felt like I was already a failure cuz most people they don't get kicked out twice in like fourth grade by fourth grade. >> Agreed. >> So I was like man, I ████ suck at everything. I hump poles on the ████ playground. I can't make friends. >> I don't have it like >> Punch plants. >> Yeah, punch we ████ kick plant we ████ punch plants. >> We did that. >> My my best friend thinks I smell like a dog. I'm like dude, my life is ████ over. >> The struggles of an eight-year-old dude. >> got nothing, dude. >> And then I remember in the beginning of class in fourth grade at this brand new school with no friends, the teacher wanted to see like where everyone's math level was at. So she passed out this like ████ 1950s or 1970s 1950s um >> worksheet. So it's so ████ faded

35 where like the eight kind of almost looks like a three. You know you know what you know how that's like that's how faded like this this worksheet was, right? She passed it all out. there was like I don't know, like 50 questions or whatever. And then she goes, "All right guys, I want you guys to complete this and then from this we're going to put you in math group A or math group B." Up until this point, my mom used to beat my ass doing math all the time at home. I didn't know what the point of it was. I ████ hated it. It was one of those where like if I'm doing it, if she'll give me like 10 to like 30 questions every day, if I miss one, every one I miss it's another three problems. So it ends up being like I'm doing 50 to 100 every cuz I ████ up cuz I have ADD all the time. And then so I just end up doing math for like 2 hours even though I could have been done in 10 minutes cuz I have ADD. But anyways, I do I do that. I don't know what the ROI on this ████ is. I take the test. I When I finish the test, I literally did it in like 60

25 seconds. I ████ smoked the ████ out of the test. I go, I turn it in and then the teacher starts So I was the first person to finish. I was like, "Oh ████ hell yeah. Hell of fast." Everyone's still working on it and then every single one is wrong. She starts like marking all of them wrong. And I'm like, "What the f███?" And then I'm like, "What do you mean?" Cuz I see like four and then eight. And I put like 32. And then I was like, "What do you mean 4 * 8 is not 32?" She goes, "Oh, you did multiplication?" So not only did I do it harder cuz I thought I was like there's no way she's trying to do >> You were doing addition? >> Yeah, everyone's doing addition. I was like there's no way it could be addition cuz I'm trying to like read between the lines, right? It's like this Xerox copy. So not only did I smoke the whole class, but I did it the harder way and so when she re-corrected it, I got a 100. >> see a plus? >> No, because the Xerox thing it's like you can't even make out an eight. The

15 eight looks like a three. >> Aren't you still wrong because you did the wrong it's it's wrong? >> Yeah, but everybody else was doing the right plus that you couldn't see? >> I don't know. I was probably I was probably like ████ staring at the wall. I don't know what the hell's going on. >> Dude, your teacher was actually cool as ████ >> But she went back and she was like, "Holy ████ you actually did what I'm going to teach you this year and you already did it a 100." >> So like duh, you could do addition if you can do that. >> Yeah, yeah, cuz you can't >> Imagine. >> You can't do [laughter] addition. And then I remember walking back to my class. I'm like, dude, I think I'm good at something. >> Yeah, dude. >> Even though it's gay as ████ cuz it's math, you know? >> No, that's not gay. That's ████ dope. >> I was like, oh ████ >> Pulls down the window, you still smell like dog. >> [laughter] >> I know. >> Math dog, math dog. >> Multiplication dog. >> All right, mine's way way way cooler than both of yours. So, uh I you know, I would when I make her

05 videos days, I was uh writing with Bobby Lee a bunch. >> Name dropping already, huh? >> You know what I mean? And I remember I remember being out at um you know, at this diner and it was like midnight or some ████ with my chick at the time. And Bobby walks in after like I think he did a comedy set nearby. And he comes right up to me at at my table with my chick and he's like, I just want you to know that your boyfriend's like one of the funniest ████ dudes that I know. And I was like, holy ████ That is ████ cool. And to this day, I I believe that Bobby was just doing a cool thing for me like by by just being like, hey. >> Yeah. >> The ultimate wingman. >> The ultimate wingman, exactly. But I'm like, that was so cool of him to do. >> What a wing pro, dude. >> Ultimate wingman. >> Did you get head that night? >> I think I was too tired. >> [laughter]

57 >> From all the excitement. >> Dude, that's ████ crazy. That's sick. Hell yeah. >> But he probably also meant it, too. >> [laughter] >> He probably couldn't resist saying it. >> I'm not that guy. >> Anthony doesn't have a story cuz he was born cool. >> He's like, the first time he's like, I guess coming out of my mom's ████ >> Mine's is actually very very cute and dumb. You want to hear it still, Joe? >> Yeah, because I know that you weren't cool when you were younger cuz you you tell us how much you were a fat uh boy scout. >> [laughter] >> Eagle scout. Eagle. >> I guess I won't tell you then, Joe. >> No, I want to know. I want to What was your What was your moment? >> So so you know you know how at UCI, you might not know this person. You know how UCI there's uh we was on this dance team it's called SCDC, but then there was like this other dance team that doesn't compete and they're just like they're like the spirit team of UCI. They're just like this almost like a junior team if you will cuz it was started by one of our old coords.

47 Anyways, there was like super cute girl that's on this team. >> Oh yeah, I know you're talking about her. >> Shut the ████ [laughter] up. I'm just kidding. There's this super super cute girl that's on this team and you know I'm just trying to like do my flirt or whatever just you know on the side just being on this other like other team that actually competes thinking I have some sort of stock. Stop it. >> Higashi? [snorts] >> Nope, stop. >> [laughter] >> Who is that? >> And then I just remember trying like trying to figure out my my game to like uh tell her during her performance that I was going to see I was going to watch them do a performance like you know at Ring Road by by the flag poles or whatever that day and then in some way trying to have her give me a shout out. Right? And and you know the flirting is just be like oh I just just like throw up a heart at me or something like that. >> Ooh. >> So I go to this performance and then she actually does it.

37 >> Woah. >> And my ████ heart fluttered. I was super super like hard crush on this chick. She does this ████ like little heart up at me mid performance. >> Wow, that's dope. >> center some dancer ████ That's magic moment. That's magic ████ >> That's a good one, bro. So did you guys ████ Did she give you head? Yeah. >> No, no, no. >> Bro, that's better than ████ >> Nah, she ended up dating one of my other homies. >> What the hell? Wait, so nothing happened with her? >> Nah, no. >> She's a ████ ████ Why did she do that? >> [laughter] >> ████ promiscuous ████ >> You asked her to do that? >> I did you know honestly at that time my game was so non-existent still that like I didn't do anything with it. >> Oh. >> I didn't >> The window closed for the moment, yeah. >> Yeah, I didn't like make enough of a move to ████ >> have been one of those like she actually really liked you and she was like wait, I don't think he likes me because you didn't like pursue it.

28 >> Could have also been like she just knows it by heart mid-set regardless and then she conned me into saying that but that's her normal choreography. I wouldn't ████ know, you know? Middle of No, you still came out on top cuz that's ████ cool to have that happen and be like I wasn't interested anyway. >> [laughter] >> That's the cool way to play it. Thanks for the shout-out. >> Dude, that is dope. >> It's a good feeling. >> Are you freshman? Are you freshman at this point? >> I was a sophomore. >> You can feel what that feels like. >> Oh, yeah. A little Easter egg in the choreography. >> Yeah, dude. You just ████ feel like the man. >> Yeah, dude. >> In the in that ID, the Anthony's ID card, it's that guy. >> It is that guy. >> Oh, really? >> Yeah. Let's if you want to show it for posterity. Yeah, that's the ████ guy that's getting a shout-out on stage. >> That guy looks like a school shooter, though. >> Jesus. >> [laughter] >> He doesn't look like he shoots a shot at all, actually.
