00 After they make the lenses, I had to get them remade again because the focal point was like too close. So now to like in order to see, I have to like be crosseyed. >> That's why you look like that. >> That's why I look like that. Yeah. >> Like this. [Music] So, I know I remember I told you guys a while back that uh when I got to Nevada and I went to go take my driving test that like I freaking ma mega failed the eye test, which I've never had a problem with the eye test ever in my life. >> And then now um for some reason I just couldn't like I couldn't name one letter. >> No, >> not one line. Not even the big one. >> The big E at the >> It's usually E. Just guess, man. backwards three. >> No, I really couldn't because they just the way that I looked at them, they like went all went like this and then they

50 were just going like that. So, I was like, I don't know. I can't even >> Wait, is it a new test? Is it like this or is it this? >> It's the one that you put you put you put your face in >> test. I see. I see. >> I thought it was the sign on the wall. >> Yeah. I just was like, I can't even try to name one letter. So then I went to go get a eye exam and then they were like, yeah, your right eye is just like it's it's only my right eye. My left eye is still good, but when I go like this, that's why I couldn't do that test. >> You got a stigmatism. >> Yeah. So, my right eye was like out. So, I had to get glasses for the first time in my life at 42. And then um Yeah. And it and it was like weird because I I still forget that I'm supposed to wear them. So, then at night when I'm driving, I'm like, whoa, this is looks like outer space. >> So, in the daytime you're okay, but at night? >> In the daytime, I I notice it less. >> But at night, then I really cuz I can't see at a distance very well. So then uh yeah, I had to get glasses and that's when like somebody had reached out and

41 was like, "Oh, did you hear about about these glasses? They're like very easy to take around." And then um and then I got myself a pair and I forgot to bring them today cuz I I'm still not used to it. But yeah, it's thin optics. You you you heard of it? >> Yeah. So they're like super thin and you can actually just like shove them in your pocket because I was tired of like bringing the nice ones around like if because you know when you have to buy glasses like hundreds of dollars and you got to put them in a case so you don't break them and then you know cause yourself even more grief. But Thin Optics you just it's like the one from the Matrix just stick on your nose. >> Oh, really? The Morpheus ones? >> Yeah. No, they they they gave me a bunch. It was pretty cool. >> They got some they got some full ones, too. But they're they're they really are like they don't even weigh like an ounce or something. It's weird. >> I might need some of those because my vision is so bad that I have to get special lenses that are cut smaller and shaped because I have like thick lenses

31 >> cuz they'll end up being like this thick. >> I have. >> You wear contacts? >> I do. So when did you have to go and get like tested? Like did you know? >> I was in the third grade. >> Were you do Were you like going like this saying like I can't see. So you didn't even know all the letters. >> Yeah. I was like I don't know where to start. I could barely read at that time. I was still I was fresh off hook. >> It's not my eyes. I just can't read. >> I've never seen those letters in my life. I've never seen those numbers actually. Um and then yeah I well I was in like I wore glasses up until like sixth grade. Then I got contacts but you know you can only wear contacts so long. So when I was at home, you would have to wear uh glasses. But >> you wear glasses at home still? >> Yeah, at night. Joe didn't see me. I was hiding from him at night. >> You You didn't want to Don't look at me like this. >> You can't see how close my eyes like when you if you were to see when I wear glasses in front of people that don't see me with glasses. The first thing they do is they literally start tapping

22 on it. They go, "God, these are some thick lenses." They say that they're shocked. >> It's like negative6. >> And now I need to get it. Well, my latest prescription that I got was -7. >> It's getting worse. >> Wow. >> I think -10 is like legally blind. >> What? >> So, your boy is headed to the top. >> Hey, you could get a handicap placard. >> That's what I'm hoping for. >> But then at the same time, we also wouldn't want him on the streets at that point. >> I'm a good driver, dude. Okay. I'm a good driver. >> Then Optics makes like almost like an eye patch with a lens. That's pretty sick cuz I only need one. >> A monle guy. Like but like pirates >> look like you would wear a monle. >> No, a monle. Oh, wait. >> When you had the curly mustache and a top hat. >> Oh, dude. It's over. He'd pull that off. >> And he drive big boxing. Come on. >> But I have no class, so I can't pull it off. >> Dude, I had an opt optician

14 basically break the news to me as if I had a terminal illness. >> Like you walked in and he's like, "You might want to sit down for this." >> Like literally, like he took it serious and I was like, "Okay, what's going on?" Like, so he sat me down. And he goes, "Okay, your eyes, they're just going to get bad from now." And I'm like, "Really?" He goes, "You're going to have to wear these glasses and contacts." And I was like, "And I I don't like contacts. I tried. It just hurts my eyes. >> Can't do contacts. >> No, my eyes too. My lids are too small. It's so so annoying to do it." So I just said, "Like, give me the glasses." And I was like, "So if I don't wear this, is my are my eyes going to get better? Like if I look out somewhere really far?" And he goes, "Unfortunately, this is a lifetime of struggle you're going to go through from now on." Wow. >> I feel like I got cancer right now. >> Making it so severe.

04 >> I don't know. But we used to call him onion head. Dr. Onion Head because he had a shape of an onion. >> Did he hear you call him onion head? No. >> Maybe that's why. Yeah. >> In the lobby in the way. >> I'm going to wreck this fool right now. >> But he was also our church's like um what do you call it? Like one of the you know when you split up into different groups, different ages. He was one of our teachers and we just called him onion head >> and then so he was also optician and and then I went to his you know thing and then he was telling me about this and somehow he started sidetracking about how he used to he invented the laser and then he went back to I was like invented the laser. 6:48 "How did you invent laser?" But I don't know. Yeah. And then he started talking about like, "Yeah, this is it. From this point on, it's just going to get worse." And I was like, "Dang." >> He said, "Your life is over. You can't watch." >> And then my eyes didn't get worse. It stayed the same. Oh, it never even >> I never cuz I I was too lazy to put on glasses. So I just said, "Forget about it." Cuz I I mean like it everything looked the same. So, you're still negative one >> ish. >> Wow. >> But thanks to thin optics. >> Shout out. >> No, it's nice cuz I at night. Yeah. It's like it's getting a little worse, but it helps me when I drive. It's just light. It's whatever. >> So, onion head was right. >> Yeah. Like 20 years. No, 25 years later. >> You saw the future. >> Yeah. I mean, it got worse like a like a.3°. It's hard, too, when like you you finally get glasses and then you put them on and it just makes you mad dizzy. >> Does that ever happen to you guys? >> Yeah. when you first not used to it.

39 >> It's cuz you're not used to it. And then also it depends on where they put the focal point cuz you know in a lens the focal point could be here or here or here whatever. So that's why they usually have to measure like your distance from your pupil to your pupil. And then there's times where when I was a kid cuz I I started wearing glasses when I was >> in second grade that after they make the lenses I had to get them remade again because the focal point was like too close. So now to like in order to see I have to like be crosseyed. >> That's why you look like that. >> That's why I look like that. Yeah. He's a little cross. >> I thought you doing it on purpose for fun. >> No, I just got used to it. >> It was like this. >> That's why your default setting is this. >> Yeah. >> I do remember getting glasses also in like second or third grade. >> And I was young. >> And I was so just sad about it. >> Really? >> Yeah. I was >> I was so happy about it. >> No. Right. Because

29 >> you already had every other nerd trait. That was the last one. Oh, >> dude. This started the nerd traits and it just kept going downhill from there. Um, and I just remember being like, man, like I thought the four ice club people were like loser, right? And then I had to get glasses and I remember one time I got like a a a piece of paper and they're like, "Oh, you can go to the four eyes club during like lunch or whatever and you get like a little surprise." So then I was, "Huh?" And there's like a little green construction paper with like, you know, really crappy printing or whatever. And I go to the four ice club during lunch and then they gave me an ice cream. >> What? >> Why? Just cuz you had glasses. >> Yeah, >> cuz they felt bad. >> They really called it the four ice club. >> Yeah, >> that is kind of funny. >> Wow. >> Free ice cream though. That's sick. >> They gave me ice cream. It was only one

19 time. I think you just get one coupon. >> But I just remember thinking, "All right, this is not so bad." And then everybody still made fun of me. But it's okay. I got ice cream. What was the What did you guys do at the four ice club? Just tank. >> We just got ice cream and then like >> to make the kids not feel dorky, >> I think. So, >> wow, that's a great idea. >> That's actually pretty cool. >> Give the dork something for other people to envy. >> Give the dorks something to envy. >> Why did you want glasses? >> And so, in second grade, uh I don't know. I think I was always like novelty chasing or something, but I think the teacher recommended my uh my mom like, "Hey, like you should probably get him checked out cuz when he's like not sitting in the front row, he can't really see what's on the chalkboard that well." So, it's like a baby like just a baby prescription. So, my mom took me to go get checked out. And then I remember the um the doctor and my mom was talking

10 on the side. He goes, "Honestly, he's at this phase where like he could have them or he can't, you know, it's like or he doesn't need to. He doesn't really have to. you guys would come back like in a year. I remember I was going like, "Whoa, what's what's going on in this room? I can't like can't like see too well." And I was like, "Oh, can I try one of those?" And I'm like, "Whoa, whoa." And I think I don't know if my mom, she was like, "Yeah, let's just get him the glasses cuz I think you could >> just shut him up." >> That's so funny. You wanted to do it. >> I wanted to. And then I remember the um even the optometrist was like if if you don't want to get too dependent on it because you're you're right at the cusp where you don't need it all the time, wear it in class during recess, you can take them off >> and just run around and let your eyes rest or whatever. >> And um I just liked it so much I just

00 wore it the whole time cuz it everything was just like crystal clear, you know? >> It is it is shocking when you see it for the first time. If you're in the classroom and everything's crystal clear, I don't want to go play handball and everything's kind of slightly blurry. >> You're going to miss the ball. >> The worst is when you are playing handball and you get in the face when you have glasses >> and they fall off. Not only does it hurt extra, but then it falls off, too. >> You get the indent right here. >> Yeah. You get the indent and then you're also like, >> it's super funny. >> And then the cute the cute girl gives you your glasses back. You're so embarrassed. When someone hands you glasses after you drop them or they fall off your face like that, it's a feeling like you got punched in the stomach. It's like a double. It's a It prolongs the pain. >> I always wanted to say that thing where they go, "You wouldn't hit a guy with glasses, would you?" >> But then now you meet the love of your life. >> Yeah. You know, if I'm like if I'm like maybe three or four cars back from a red

52 light, I can't read the streets on the opposite side of the street. >> Really? You're not supposed to be able to read that that far away. >> I used to though. I used to be pretty good. Now I'm like, is that Buffalo? >> It is crazy when like somebody for a long time just doesn't have solid vision and then they just finally get glasses and it's like, "Huh?" >> Yeah, >> I could have just seen better for like years. >> I've been missing out. >> You become like those colorblind scam videos >> where they go, "Oh, it's beautiful." >> Those are scams. >> A lot of them are. Yeah. They just did it for the views. >> So heartbreaking. >> But you know what? like a like like a orthodontist like straight teeth you still get by you survive you're still going to somehow chew and swallow some version of food even though it might not be like efficient or aesthetically a certain way but like vision is like from the second you wake up to the second you

43 close your eyes to go to sleep you're using them >> yeah you're using your eyes the whole time >> and that's for you it's like getting your vision checked is kind of important >> but you know something glasses won't fix my daydreaming Because my eyes are open, but I'm not here. >> That's why you need the transitional ones. >> Yeah, it goes It goes >> ones that shock you. >> You know when your eyes go idle and you just start going like that? It should just shock you, dude. Come back. Come back. >> The thin optics glasses. Can you fold them? >> Yeah, >> cuz I felt like I could, but I didn't want to break them. >> No, it's thin. It's durable. >> You can fold them in half. >> Oh, like that? No, I mean you could fold the >> cuz they feel like you can fold them completely. >> Fold it. Just do it. Just fold it. >> Okay. No, I just wanted to make sure cuz I was getting tempted. I was like kind of nice.

34 >> So it's double fold you. >> Yeah. To put in your little
