0:51 like this is an old story where um Dom told me that his dance studio put a picture of me on their wall why did they do that by the way well first and foremost was my high school dance studio and this is 2005 that means very much this is 2005 the the well they put you up because at the time well uh remember Dana right yeah so she was like two years younger slops MC's uh wife SL rhpc Dana yeah she was a huge fan of the show I'd already graduated but she was still in school and I go there to teach and on the wall is this Filipino K-pop Star before K-pop cuz your hair was like it looked like you got struck by lightning bro and I was thoroughly pissed because the ████ was well I had a picture next to it I had an 8 by10 oh you I never knew that I had an 8 by10 cuz there's

6:43 crew oh dude let's talk about that like like most people don't know that we tried out that Quest Crew tried out season one of ABDC most people every dancer ever tried out season one of ABDC that was such a stacked audition oh my God that audition was like you're kind of like a fan of everybody there yeah everybody was there and and everybody that we like looked up to for so many years was magically in some random crew Everybody had a crew yeah and then they that back then it was like it was so weird like we were standing in line I think it was at like the Debbie I want to say Debbie Allen Studio from I I don't remember I forgot where that was and then it was like in Silver Lake and then we were we would stand in line and it was so it felt so unorganized and like they were like oh we're going to shoot you guys freestyling in the parking lot real quick don't make noise cuz the neighbors will complain like
7:34 ████ like that and then we get in we do our uh our routine and then they're like we're going to test you guys on Coro so they taught all the teams a Coro piece yeah remember that and we had like what one hour to make it our own yeah isn't that so weird I feel like they didn't do that after that right no I would say that was probably the coolest audition I plus we've ever done and maybe the only one we've ever done but it was like it was crazy that that was like it was kind of a cool way to see what people did with it yeah and it was like napy tabs they taught us to like 48 counts and then we had to leave for an hour go make it our own we came back and I I think didn't we realize that we were the only ones that actually still did the Coro like a lot of the crews like kind of like a lot of b boy Crews were like yeah right we're going to blow it up yeah which I didn't I never realized that was a hidden option yeah don't do the audition do what you want we always were like oh

9:14 know like it's it's not like fun what was interesting too is that we all watched each other at the audition and most auditions you don't really audition in front of your other peers but this one was like everybody got shoved into that one big room it was very unorganized uh but it was it was a blast I remember that just the talent in that room it definitely felt like like raw everybody was trying to figure it out including the producers I wish we could get the footage from anything from That season for us that was really cool yeah it's probably Mega deleted by now but like I remember cuz I had hit this like we went to the parking lot to do solos and I hit this 2000 to a freeze which I never do and then you guys were couldn't make noise cuz we're in the parking lot and you guys all went we're like yeah and even even Dan sax who's recording was
10:05 like I was like give me that give me that footage yeah it was great and then we actually got a call back and they they wanted us for season yeah we made the show but they actually made an edit of the first episode they made remember do you remember that they' made an edit no and that's when they like when that's when we went oh at this point in time too I think half of us including yourself had had like one what like you had one year left of of University or college yeah yeah I had I had one more semester and that was like half the team Victor Fang and you guys all I mean we all quit everything but we didn't quit college you right so we all like committed to training these last couple of weeks months right to get ready for the show and then we get a phone call
10:55 when we all get to Sacramento that's a different that's a crazy story that's a whole another episode that's a bad story that's like I mean might as well just tell people about it because it's pretty ████ up it I mean that that's this is like a Victor main character story too cuz he was the most pissed I remember that we we had decided to uh put down everything we were doing and focus on preparing for ABDC Season 1 and um me and Victor had like fro Frozen our transcripts and we're like all right we'll come back to UCI like after this show and then um Dom is like yeah we can come to Sacramento and like train at this studio uh just drive up on this night and then we'll we'll spend some training time out here and then uh I remember it was like the craziest storm that like I've ever seen all the way from LA to sack like five six hour drive
11:47 and Victor was the whole time like I've never seen Victor so scared while like driving and then uh when we get there Dom's like oh by the way we can't do the show yeah we got we got a phone phone call so as of right now we're we're like getting ready for the show because we made the show and I guess like Nigel lithco or one of the producers called Dan Sachs who's the main producer of America's Best Dance Crew which they both worked together on S you can dance and he said uh Hawk and I were still on contract for a year and so we couldn't do any other competing TV shows or whatever isn't it like a it's a threeyear it's one year from the finale of the show oh okay and it was like competing shows so at the time there was no competing shows dance shows right so ABDC comes out and then we find out after you guys all dropped out of college that we can't even do the show

13:29 it rhymes with uh habis I I still don't know how true that is because I've heard rumors from different directions about that but like that means like they were so off with what would be a good crew if they really didn't think japa was going to be from what I remember and what I heard and this can be wrong it was just like I guess Randy Jackson Who definitely usually doesn't have an opinion even though it's his show I guess he didn't get the mask or something and I was like how they also killed it at the audition I remember had this moment we were like oh remember we were like who's in they're in these guys in yeah we knew who would be in it yeah we were like uh that's right cuz we knew we made it but we didn't know who else made it right um so that was yeah that was uh crazy yeah supposedly they didn't get picked first season initially and then us being
14:19 kicked out because of domond Hawk's contract they got put back in but I don't know if that's like that's just that's true that's just yeah that's just a rumor but regardless maybe we made that up to feel cooler yeah maybe this whole thing is made up maybe this whole world's made up um cuz I say the same thing about them in Vegas I'm like that was supposed to be my solo show but I couldn't do it regardless it's so like I think we would have tanked yeah and Jab is in pression on the show like that set the the path for everybody to be tuned in really I think season one we would have lost yeah I think we would have cuz we barely knew each other right we didn't even have enough ████ guts and we're not even close to friends tell each other hey we can't do the show right right in the middle of a of a stunt where we have to grab hands I'll just go hi I'm Ryan I'll be saying 6781 2 3 4 right

16:05 plays we had notebooks yeah we did we had a notebook of all of the different uh stunts that we had made and then we named them ████ that we couldn't remember why we called it that like what's the double headed donkey slide it was It was kind of nerdy but I love that we did that like we watched we overanalyzed every Show everybody's performance each even the s█████ ones and we asked ourselves why was that ████ which ones were s█████ I'm not going to name the Cru but you know who you are no we did we watched and I think what's cool is we found something in everybody's like performances like we could see why certain things didn't win and why certain things did that's why when I tell Anthony when he's like whenever he like gripes about us beating him I'm like don't worry that's the only thing we can do the only thing we do is win ABC's that's it yeah that's all in
