00 [Music] Welcome back to Careful Boys. Today we're talking with Nick about why or what he hasn't missed about JK whatsoever. What I haven't missed? Yeah, what you what haven't you missed about JK? I miss a lot from JK, honestly. It cuz it does There was a time where there was a whole month where I I didn't come in and I was like, damn, I haven't seen the guys in a while. And I end up just started watching JK. Really? >> watch the episodes that you guys What a loser. >> I know. I'll put it on my back around while I while I while I do stuff and I'm like, oh yeah, this feels nice. That's like Nina, dude. Nina's watching the videos to get those and Anthony. Yeah. I think he said he does that, too. When he's like when he when he missed like uh misses shoots and then like he'll be on like a car dealership or something and he's scrolling through. Yeah. Cuz this is my first month doing only
51 once a month. Cuz before I was every every week. So I'd see you guys all the time. And then I'd be like, what the ████ are the boys up to, you know? And I'm like, yeah, so I've been Or you could ask in real life, what are you guys up to? >> That's weird, huh? He's never even in the group chat. >> Yeah, never. I text back. I I texted back that recently cuz I was like, man, I miss the boys so I I shot something in the group chat. You're like, cool. Yeah, I'm like I just did thumbs up. You like Bart's post. >> a post. I was like, yeah, this is a interesting post. Um I miss the office. Really? >> I miss going to the office, yeah. Cuz close to your house? Yeah. But it was weird. >> What do you miss about the office? Just the ritual of like, all right, I go train my clients. On my way to JK, it's Thursday, Friday, time to go and drive
41 down the office. You're like, hey boys, you know, like just the usual routine of it cuz it was like the first time where I was like, oh ████ yeah. I I don't I have to go to Vegas this time. I have to fly out. The travel is not that bad cuz I've been having to come out to Vegas like I was here like a week ago. ████ jet setter. Do you Burbank it? I Burbank it. >> Yeah, that's There it's not no complaints. >> And then all the news from like, you know, plane stuff that's like kind of negative is all coming out of Burbank so that's always cool. That's true, actually. >> What? >> colliding. And like there was a whole like day where the there was nobody in the air traffic control tower cuz the government shut down. It's all in a ████ Burbank. >> didn't have any flights going on. They were doing remote ████ They had like a remote air traffic controllers handling Burbank. Oh, they're working from home? Yeah, that's cool. That's cool. Feels good, right? Yeah, it's weird. Interesting. I didn't even know you
31 could do that. I didn't know they were doing that, either. You know what they do when there's no one in the tower? All the planes coordinate together. Ain't that crazy? That's ████ crazy, dude. >> have a system. My brother did air traffic control, which is what scares me cuz he he would tell me that like out of Oklahoma where he was at, they just use a whiteboard. Like so there was no like They're just drawing where the planes are coming. People always think about it's like some complicated electronic setup and my brother's like, no, they we would just do a whiteboard and then we'd erase and then we'd Oh my god, that's so scary. What the hell? >> That's all you need, though. And then he's like, we would also he's like, we would play Nintendo 64 just like while we're chilling. So I'm like, you guys are not just always sitting there. He's like, nah, sometimes we'd be in the back, man. Yeah, playing Mario Kart or whatever. So they're probably sick of Mario Kart Kart. Yeah. But he said it's the most stressful job he's ever had so he's he dipped. Scary
21 cuz everything's moving at like 2 300 miles an hour. You don't have time to like ████ up. Yeah. Cuz if you're like one guy's going, oh, I'm at whatever altitude, I'm flying this way, the other guy's going this altitude, flying this way. They're like like that and they're like, oh, yeah, you're clear to go. Or if you're in the right the right like the the same altitude, you're just going to smash into each other. That s███'s crazy. Not worth the bread. I was in a Cessna and they lost signal for like 5 minutes and everyone was freaking out. Yeah, I would be, too. >> the ████ out. Whenever time I hit turbulence in in Vegas, I I freaked the ████ out, too. Cuz your eyes isn't fast enough to swerve out of the way. So you're just like, ████ please turn back on. I need to know if I'm in the flying at if there's any other plane flying where I'm flying. Oh my god. Yeah, I'm good. So that's kind of scary sometimes cuz I'm
11 like, I think I'm going to die on a plane. I have this weird rational fear. Why? There is a lot of turbulence in Vegas. I don't think you're that special, bro. You got to be positive. You might die like an average guy. Every time I go on a flight, though, I do give up my life a little bit. I do, too. I do just I do just go, if it's my time to go, it's my time to go. I do just have that a little just in case. Damn, that's crazy. There's nothing you can do. If a plane goes down while you're on it, you have 100 I love flying. I mean, I like flying, too, but I have the oh, like the reality of it is the plane could crash. I could be on the one that's going to crash. Yeah. So I just give I just go if I die, I die. Are you cool with what you've been doing so far like flying to to JK like you could get used to this? Yeah, it was
01 only the first month and I only see you guys once a month. Right. So it's not too bad. It it is like, all right, leaving for like, you know, 3 4 days out of the week does kind of mess up my schedule a little bit for work, but other than that, it's fine. It is what it is. But it's I I still treat JK like a nice little work break where it's something different than what I normally do all the time. So it breaks up the monotony and so I do enjoy that. And you know, we get to it's hard to say that what we do here is ████ work, bro. Like, you know? So we get to come out, hang out. Me and Joe smoked cigars and kicked it. So it was a sweet little >> We grilled some steaks. How's that work? Yeah, it was it was dope. It was cool. So yeah, it's it feels like a big old hang that we don't normally get I don't even get to do this with like really any of my friends, really. >> Change of scene for you, too. And I get to see you guys cuz JK was such a big part of my life back home,
51 right? Like back in LA where I kind of forgot like, oh yeah, like I was here all the time. So now that it kind of the frequency kind of changed to once a month. Do you ever drive by the office with the feeling like, you know, when you drive by the house you grew up in? Yeah. I grew up in that house. >> Yeah, sometimes I think I'm like, damn, I haven't been in Monterey Park in a while. Cuz the only reason why I go out there is for JK. So yeah, for sure there's a little bit of nostalgia and it's still fresh, too, you know? So but um I was talking to the boys about how awesome I'm becoming in Vegas in the past like 2 months. And it's like, dude, I know the airport so well, bro. Do you play machines? No, I go on that I go on that sculpture store right before the Uber picks It's a sick one, dude, with the Transformer big Transformers guy in there. Buy that Iron Man one day, dude. I'm going to buy that thing. >> a sick airport. >> It's dope. So yeah, it's been it's been like yeah,
42 it's been great, bro. It's been nice. I can't complain. Um but move back to LA. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Move back. We have better >> back. >> We have high yeah, yeah. I know you guys moved everything. You guys worked so hard at moving it, but just move back. Do you have any uh do you miss the tables? Everyone says they miss the tables. Yeah, so I miss the tables. Yeah? Nah, the tables are kicking it and going bang I was the I was the number one enemy. I'd be kicking the ████ out of those tables. It feels nice to be on a couch. >> miss not rolling into a wall right behind you and knocking Yeah, yeah, yeah. >> ████ glass. Right now my nemesis is this mic stand, but other than that, it's cool. Yeah, do you miss the chairs like we're laughing and it ████ makes us fall back? And the wheel flies off. I really liked that feature, but sucks to be on the chair, you know? Because it kind of forces us to, you know, like have to finish our thoughts a little Which one? These ones? Yeah. I do like
32 the microphones, that's cool. The lives were ████ tough cuz I there was a couple shots that we did where they flew off my shirt. >> Oh yeah, that's right. Yeah. until two videos later and I didn't know that could happen. This is a kind of a pain in the ass, but I think it's worth the investment because the quality is that much better. Yeah, that's true. I hope you guys are liking the mics. They're great. They're great. The sound sucks like ████ Mhm. But hopefully it sounds really good now. What do you guys think about the small like background music in the back? A lot of people are like I used to never Me personally, I I used to always be like, why don't you guys take that out? That's what I thought. But I didn't realize I didn't realize how much of the JK like hardcore fan base loves the music cuz it's like, you know, >> I kind of miss it a little bit. >> me, you know? Should we bring it back?
22 >> I go back and forth on it. What do you guys think? >> cuz I was like, well, no one else does it. And then I watched the videos without it and I'm like, kind of doesn't feel JK. I don't know. Yeah, I'm kind of like back and forth on it, too. >> Yeah, I go back and forth. >> Just depends on what you're trying to do. If you're just trying to cater to the oldest audience you have and never change, that's easier. Sounds like you have an opinion on this. I think if we talk about heavy topics like, you know, where there's murder >> of funny, though. >> stuff, that's when you throw it on the background. You throw the zany music in the back. >> When it's like a car crashed and ████ killed five families and it's like, ding ding elevator music Ooh, a little jazzy. [Music] [Applause] And then we're like, what, that's tragic. What happened? And she was like a great mother. She owned an orphanage.
15 It's like that video where we're Subin's talking about how he got groomed by a gay guy and like in the background you hear that JK flute. Poor Subin. He got to come in, dude. And maybe we should request it only on sad videos. Hey, that's pretty funny. Ironic music for like touchy topics. Do you think uh then if you cuz obviously you've thought about this a little bit, do you think that it turns people off having the background music? Like new people, maybe? >> I think everybody likes everything, but you what are you going to do? Every time someone says they want something, you got to ████ put it back in? Like Dude, that's true. At some point you just have to do what you want to do. I think the difficult thing is like change for people that liked your brand for what it is. Like because you become a place where like oh, this is my routine and then it it gives me that feeling of like
06 nostalgia or like whatever. Like you know when a brand has like a band has to change their brand a little bit or their sound. People like I ████ hate you, ████ Yeah, yeah. >> Cuz it's like you're taking away their childhood, really. Yeah, but then that's like everyone who said they missed Tiff. Are you going to bring Tiff back? You know like how we should try it. You know what I mean? Like people say they missed this, they missed that. >> the idea board. What I mean like we're brainstorming. >> Just can't like the the old videos are still up. People can still watch the old stuff. It's not like >> a big video bank. >> different if you deleted all of them, then that would be like really sad cuz then they can't access the nostalgia of it, but I think like this is going to be nostalgia for someone else someday, too. You know, like it always just Or what if we replace the music with something completely different? Like what? >> Mambo No. 5. >> White noise. I I have a dream speech.
56 Or explosions? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. When someone makes a killer point, you just do an explosion. Uh maybe like um like Kenny G. Oh, that's kind of cool. >> We'll leave it changed it. Um just get copy written. Yeah, yeah, like like the rainforest. >> Ooh, Amazon rainforest. A rain stick. We we need to do one of your uh health and fitness speeches that you >> Oh, you want zero views then, huh? Is that what you're telling me? But no, I miss uh I miss the boys. It's it's been it's been cool to come out here once a month, but you know, I do miss seeing you guys pretty regularly. And I miss you guys driving all the way out. Yeah, yeah, we did do. I missed Now you know what we had to do for the past couple of years. >> Yeah, and I I'm I'm cool with it right
46 now. It's still It's only the second time I I'm out, so it's pretty fresh. It feels great. All right. By number three, I'm going to be like I can't ████ do this anymore. This is terrible. >> did it for 3 years. I know. I I did it I did it for 5 years. >> out. I'm like holy ████ ████ this sucks. I moved in I moved in 2020 and I was like I Yeah, I think back and I'm like holy ████ I did that for 5 years. That was crazy. >> Yeah. So you you drove or flew to LA every weekend or every other weekend? Yeah, it was 2020, yeah. Well, I in the beginning I tested it out to see what would be the better workflow. So I flew and drove a bunch and then I realized driving for me was the best cuz then I still have to do other things when I'm in town and then either have to borrow Geo's mom's car or I have to get a rental. And then sometimes like if we had to do things later for JK like a brand deal or whatever, then I'm like ah, ████ I'm going to miss my flight.
36 So it was just easier if I'm in control of when I can get in and when I can get out. So I just ended up driving the last couple of years. >> Yeah. I remember during COVID, flights to LA from Vegas was 12 I mean like 20 to $15 one way. Awesome. It was crazy, dude. But it was so gay cuz I had to wear a mask the whole flight. Yeah. I remember like yeah, the first year of COVID, I think every flight I took was JSX cuz it was like 70 bucks. That's sick. >> Yeah, I'm like this is insane. >> You don't have to go through security, right? >> Nope. But now it's right back to the original price. I don't I just drive. Speaking of security, I'm TSA precheck now. Are you? Smart. >> I I never did it. I should have done it. >> No. How did you ████ do it, man? They have to steal information, that's why. Yeah, yeah, I didn't want to give them my my fingerprints. Dude, TSA precheck is a game. >> I go to my I don't want to brag, but I go to my gate like so say the boarding
27 is at like 3:25, I get there at 3:30, brother. I I get there right as they're boarding. I don't even care anymore. They just got rid of the shoe thing. It's dangerous. Shoe thing's done. Isn't that nice? That's so nice that they don't do that no more, man. It's the best. The lines go so much faster. >> Stupid thing was they they didn't get rid of it on masses. Like some places were okay, some weren't. And they make you feel like an idiot for getting it wrong where you at. And like you know like the laptop thing? That thing where they're like uh no, leave it out. Uh no, put it back in. >> the last airport I was at told me to take it out, you ████ ████ I hated that. Like get everything on one page. >> I was looking at my bank account recently and I was like, wait, why is there still like a lot of bread in there? Like there's still like way more money than usual and I'm like, I'm not spending $800 a month going to JK. [Laughter]
// end of tape
