00 look as a 19-year-old who was making like $12 an hour and stuff I think after like 4 months of work I think I made a little over [Music] 100 and welcome back everybody to super sick ass episode of the careful boys where today we are very very blessed with the young Legend [Applause] Jeremy and by by by popular fan request we're going to have a guest host even though he's reluctant and deflecting about it but Nick is going to come over here we're going to switch look how happy you look be happy be happy camera's rolling so he can interview dude this is weird I don't like being you got all the good

50 questions though huh you got all the good question oh it's o media collaborating with j today yeah so uh me and Jeremy we work on a um a YouTube channel called us media you might see some yeah now you're on it and we're going to Grapple you right now go I want to be on o media you guys I got fun on there what the ████ is this this is fun too but I like talking you know what we do do sometimes I'll walk into the office and I'll go Burpee check everybody's got to do 10 burpees you do that you guys ready no oh my God wait wait you have to do a full why why do you do why do you do Burpee checks for because everybody got to get they got to stay fit you know so you have to do a full push-up and you have to jump your feet have to leave the

41 ground you have to do a back a back tuck no no you have to just leave the ground so you can't hey k k come Out Come K come out you piece of ████ you got to do it too you have to do them you have do Burpy check tell us when all ready go you got to jump one two let's go two three let's go four five don't stop two more he eight 10 I think I have one happy birthday who's breathing breathing hard don't Breathe hard don't Breathe hard that's too easy for a don't Breathe hard

31 all right dudes so we do random ████ like that well all right jack off check hold on guys now let's get to the real stuff everybody sit down for a second and I think you need to do more bur we'll do like a minute where we just recover I'm totally not tired hey you work out more than me you shouldn't be doing that but he's breathing less than you he's 30% body [Music] fat well look that's a lot of percent J Jeremy Jeremy's a part of a legendary team a stunt team called 8711 right how did the number name come to be hold he's not breathing hard it's address yeah that's ████ tight that's it bro but Jeremy's story of how he got started in 8711 is pretty ████ nuts okay what's the story can you tell us a

22 little bit what's the hosting for man ████ you dude dude sick hosting bro long story short I'm so out of breath I compet in martial artarts I was doing tricking as as a teenager and then they were casting for ninja hassin and I was training with with the K-pop guy yeah rain rain so they were looking for a double for him and like the the one guy who's like over six foot Asian that could flip at the time was Kim do so the John Valera who was on 8711 he was like oh we got to audition Kimo so Kimo used me and his um audition tapes they're like like who's that guy so they got me at 8711 auditioning they were like oh you want to come do this movie with us and then they found out I was 17 they're like yeah we're not going to bring a

14 17-year-old to Germany and like do all these crazy stunts so when they came back from that movie they let me come train with them and the I think what he's referring to to the craziness was like I didn't know anybody in La so I in my car what at 17 uh 18 now oh cuz it was after they came back oh what the heck but I lived in like a 94 Honda Civic and um I was sleeping in a parking lot in Englewood and you just like hear gunshots regularly and the ████ what brought you to La were you like I'm going to pursue the Hollywood dream or like no so so when they asked Kim doe to audition we were still living in San Jose so John Val only knew him from like the Steve like the sport karate world

04 where he you know they knew Steve as well and so he called him to audition so we'd send them tapes and then um they said when we come back from this movie come move to LA so ' 87 actually told me like Chad told me he's like come move to LA is is Chad the leader yeah Chad is the uh he was so he was Keana re's double through all the matrixes Constantine and all this stuff and then he's the guy who directed all the John Wicks so he was the one who actually way before John Wick asked me to move to LA is he the like the founder of ev7 yeah yeah yeah so back then there was three owners um and then everybody kind of split and do their own thing so Chad is like my my main boss yeah he's now he's the director and I had no idea that was going to happen 15 years ago wow so you

54 worked with them for 15 years yeah and and for I think the other bosses at the time were like like he caught me sleeping in my car for like 4 months like after 4 months he's like what are you doing he just knocked on my and it was like a 4 months you slept yeah it was like a little 90 94 Honda Civic with all the clear Co coat like faded off like the super most Bay Area car holy ████ dude sub was crazy though huh yeah my it was crazy as a homeless man where does your shower uh so uh I I would go to Travis W's house in his apartment and I would borrow his shower and then sometimes I'd sleep on the couch but he lived in Northridge so it would be too long to drive down so I would I would go and shower after White

44 Lotus before it was jammed wow I remember White Lotus yeah have you ever seen one of our skits from White Lotus yeah yeah beat up all the girls no that's what I used to watch you guys oh that's up tight and then um yeah he caught me sleeping in the parking lot cuz I didn't want to be late for training and he was like do you not know anybody in LA and I was like I have one uncle or Auntie here and I don't want to owe them anything so I'm just living here and then the ogs of 87 were like they were like they all knew I was sleeping in my car but nobody was like Hey stay at my place cuz they were like if you really want it you'll figure it out wow so I just I lived in my car and like that's kind of how I like proved myself I kind of like that culture though it was cool I I I wish I I don't

35 wish ever that it was any different cuz now I like really appreciate like the the cool little life I've gotten to and that's how you know if you really want it too yeah yeah to go through all that and all the other punishment you put yourself through to be a ████ stunt guy yeah so what was the early years of ' 8711 like like when you after post living your car so Chad gave me a key so I could sleep in the gym but I still didn't have a sh shower so I I would shower in the bathroom with a faucet nice and I couldn't like my food my diet at the time was peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and Cinnamon Toast Crunch and and then like I had to thing against like a cup of noodles cuz I grew up on it and I had too much of it so I was over it it's like that yeah and then I like 87 like sounds like this like fancy like place but it's literally just

25 a warehouse in Englewood that's it and there is no air iing or heaters so like I slept inside the gym and then I would shower I would do a ninja bath so I would stand by the sink and I would just go like that and then I don't know why I never bought a towel so I think I was just looking at my it was expensive at the time 97 cents yeah I was like no so I would use the the paper towel the brown paper towels that smell like cardboard yeah I would like I would wipe myself d off pretty well I would go now always smell like cardboard but I did that for like a year almost oh my God I I still do that here but you know what it's a the rag is a game changer the rag just a little face rag because I realized you don't have to have a lot of water you just need a ████ like bucket or Tupperware

17 you soak that rag right you do your first rinse yeah that's gets the sweat off second rinse you get hand soap or I got I got real soap now cuz I'm bougie and then and then the third one is the Rin uh the rinse so you do the initial rinse and then you do the soap and then you do the uh you ring it out and then you do the last rinse you get the soap off yeah yeah after that I was like but well the hair I can't wash it here yeah he's been doing this for like 14 15 years you you live here huh I'm just kidding huh you guys don't have like just like a hose at 87 well it's outside bar takes showers in a hose yeah I mean outside so like in the winter it's kind of oh it is cold yeah but like uh 8 because we don't have AC or or heater it's literally a warehouse that's

09 concrete and and metal ████ so if it's cold outside it's colder inside if it's hot outside it's hotter inside so it's like it that's cool man yeah when did you transition from like not being homeless like how did that happen oh my first um Expendables wow wait that was your first ever gig yeah yeah yeah oh ████ cuz usually people be like I'll do a student film and then I'll do like a thing here and then you went straight to expandable yeah so so because we had the three owners right our company was pumping out three three four five movies a year so like right off the bat once I started all I had to do was keep up I see so all the training wasn't to train to get good enough to be a stunk guy the training was like now you have to live up to the guys who ████ said you can do it and it was like I was immed

59 mediately thrown into this thing where these guys had so many years of experience ahead of me that like you either survive or you don't you know what I mean so damn so it was It was kind of nuts but um I like to me at 19 I didn't know that there's so many ways to be a stump person like I know so many people who are like I don't fall down anymore I just drive cars and like or like I'll just drift cars and not hit the ground anymore or or you know pick and choose what they do like with Chad he groomed me in a way that he was like if going to ride wires you should know how to rig them you understand the pict you got me thinking about coordinating like really early so if I was going to ride a a rig usually you show up on set performers go and stretch and the riggers figure out the rig and then when they're ready they bring the performer in I would go in early sometimes off the clock to help

50 the riggers rig you tap into that side too and then I would yeah and then it made me way more aware of what I was doing so cut to you know 13 years later when we're doing John Wick 4 and we have to marry wirework with cars and a fight with guns like now it's easy so wow so it was actually a really smart way like Chad like was like just do everything I say okay copy and then that was it and became it became really easy to follow it's like having a guideline right that's cool sick what a great dude yeah seriously yeah yeah he took care of me take on the wing like that yeah he's like I was like his Maddox but you I was adopted Asian kid with a mohawk I was like what's that reference oh but at the time though it's like you you by you sleeping in your car for

40 ████ five six months outside the place and being hungry to be like I want to be here I'm sure he was like oh yeah this is the guy Expendables is like where do we send the check uh 94 Civic Lane dude I went back to a Bank of America in in San Jose with my mom to open my like business account and they were like can I have your ID and they see my ID and then they're like okay so what are we going to open this account with like five grand and I was like uh let me get my checks and like I was just like gave them 5 months of checks worth and they were like what do you do then they have to like check on yeah I was like they cuz anything under their 10 grand they have to report look as a 19-year-old who was making like $12 an hour and stuff I think after like four months of work I

30 think I made a little over a hundred but then but then I was under 25 taxes all that so I really only I really only had like 60 but for as a first movie would not no degree and like like it was just cool to be like all right martial arts like you had a wrinkled up checks just baled up in your pocket yeah and and it was like wow I didn't know I could do that you know you know what I mean he's like didn't like grow up in the best neighborhood so was like and now I don't train to get good enough for the job now I train to appreciate where I've gotten to be was your mom like you didn't tell me you make this much money dude my mom was tripping that's so many chick my mom like are you a Dr

20 choked on a piece of Bot she's like she's eating a balloon comes out of bird and ████ like wait wait the wait the can we have one minute please what the ████ she's like you know my neck hurts yeah I have injury I want to go to panga all of a sudden she needs all kinds of money yeah no she was actually really cool that's ████ tight is dope so from that 5 months of work like what were the movies that you did during that time no that was just Expendables just Expendables holy ████ so you're there for 5 months yeah I did my first movie well we did prep and then we went out there and then we did the whole movie was the whole movie was like like 3 months to shoot was that insane to have like cuz Expendables already is like the Avengers of ' 80s 9s action heroes right so your

10 first it's almost like if you got to work with the NBA in the first year you work with the Dream Team yeah that's ████ CRA was it mind-blowing to see everyone on set like that we watched it at the theaters cuz when the the trailer came out we were like what we got to see this yeah to see all of them at the same time and to to circle like he worked on that so on number one we were in Brazil for 2 months and then New Orleans for 1 month and I was just trying not to die like on set and offset cuz in Brazil like they were like don't go out don't do all like I try to stay in my hotel as much as I could because cuz the Brazilian butts huh they always get every butt all the stunk guys it's a honey poie yeah they're like ah there's too much Brazilian butts everywhere oh dude they had their fun but but you're like I'm a good 19-year-old old yeah I

00 sat and I went to uh Vimeo University that's where I started learning like I was in my hotel room and I would just learn how to edit and shoot and I was like had my little 7D and I was like learning wow and then not until Expendables 2 where we actually were put up in the we're in Bulgaria so the the there was only one nice hotel and there was a nice ass gym that was overlooking a swimming pool and so all of the stars were there so I just remember I would go to the gym on the treadmill and I'd look over be like and Terry Cruz just like walks in he's like running right and I'm waiting for him to do the the bit with the weights I just remember being like what's up and I'm just running like 10 minutes later I look over Randy coutour gets on his his treadmill and he's got a weight vest on and he's doing incline

50 walking I'm like this is crazy I'm like okay after I'm like okay well I've been running for like an hour I better not get off like my treadmill like for another hour I got to outrun ter Cruz and rainy so I like I I I just keep running and like okay cool I turn around and I remember seeing like Dolph lren doing like bicep curls what a crazy sly's like doing like like overhead presses and Scott Atkins is over there doing some stuff and I'm just like ████ this is nuts like everybody's training this weekend they're either trying to get over being hung over or everybody's just literally about that life but was that gym like private for the like it was just the hotel gym but like because it was like the really expensive like spot in Bulgaria like

41 they just put us all there in one hotel one big hotel and it had this crazy Japanese Gardens like restaurant outside but they had this they had this fancy ass gym and it was such a nice hotel that people who stay at those hotels don't go to the gym so we we were using the gym and it was just like I'm looking around I'm like all of these guys are training and I'm like this is sick and then that was the one where Liam Hemsworth was there so he was like on a machine like doing some fliers or something and they all know each other um yeah yeah everybody's actually really cool like all of them were really cool um do you have pictures with all of them and like autographs and ████ no because back then so the the stunt life back then was not like make YouTube videos and become famous for being a stunt person it was like your you're the unsung hero like shut up it's about the

32 actors keep your head down don't ask for pictures and so like d don't ask for pictures this is what's really fulfilling cuz you're like a PA ye yeah kind of not really but because we do get close with the actors but like because the actors can just be normal with us they're not always like trying to like once I go can I have a picture a lot of times they're if if my timing is wrong their perception of you Alters they're like you just want to picture with me but one of my favorite things was like I remember being at a party and being super wasted and on Expendables one cuz it was Brazil I remember um STM who who's like a good friend now STM was like jezza he' call me jez he's like jezza let's have a selfie took a picture never sent it to me right and then this has happened a

22 bunch of times with random actors that I never ask like selfie pictures like I don't know how many selfies there are of me like with with actors just and I was like that's kind of cool cuz my dad would be like where are your pictures with these actors you know we live vicariously through you like and I'm like I can't really share that stuff it's just them being people so you don't know chocolate it's always Chuck up show me show me but it's cool cuz now I just think in my head I'm like like I have got to work with a lot of actors but like you know like I don't have pictures like on myone I have some like when I got comfortable and being like now I can ask without being weird right right or people like on the dis Stills photographer on set will be like I took a picture of you guys I got you dude that those are cool cuz they're all high

13 res you print them out put them in the office to the moment's candid and ████ yeah so that's cool but I I don't have like I've never been like hey like let's have a like you should start doing it more you start as soon as you meet them be like just take your phone out and start just see how that goes I've never been on I don't really know that many famous people but I think it'll work out well have you is there anyone you work with that's like you really got Star Struck by that you're like oh my God can't believe that slide probably uh dairo or slly I mean that's pretty crazy I mean my first movie was Sly right yeah Expendables yeah yeah he dude he's so funny he's really about that life right he's like he's really that that dude exactly what you think and I remember like 5:00 a.m. just running running around and ████ yeah dude he's always got these clubs on set the like the

04 like like those mace things yeah yeah but one time he just had a a bowling bowling pin I like like ████ Scotland Yard or what he's just holding it and just like he's like walking his shots and he's like looking around and he's like doing forearm workouts with his b and he just has ████ forarms all dude he got he got crazy fors move he can't move his eyebrows though no no he was like super cool and I was like just sitting there and it never hits me until we're like sitting at lunch you know you're in the you're in like some dingy like lunch area and you just like all the extras all the crew all the actors just eating together you just look over Rocky you're just like that's cool Dam and you just like by yourself like patting yourself in the back that's

54 crazy you know you you ever see him pick his nose or something yeah I see them do that ████ all the time dude Stars be picking wedgies and ████ and you just be laughing or like my my dog who who was at the gym like we we're such a big dog gym at 887 and uh you know one time I came in and hi Barry who's like everybody's childhood Crush he like rolling around with my dog on the floor like this and I'm just looking and I'm like you know how many guys want to be you right now you lucky bastard like that's so cool are like just see be human is really really cool so I don't know it's it's more of that like to me or or like little moments that or you know there's like I won't name names but like onset one time like being in the middle of a

44 shoot and and we don't condone or do like drinking onset or anything like that right cuz we have to be safe one day it was like an acting day and I'm by the monitors and I hear Jeremy I run over yes sir we're on like this Rooftop in Germany shooting the scene you like whiskey yeah you know it's my birthday like you know I can't say no to blah blah blah like you're a legend my young martial arts self would not forgive me so then I look over and Chad just does one of those does one of those and I'm like probably the most expensive Japanese whiskey they could find there like just like having a shot with them and I'm

34 just like this is what the ████ I'm here for like cool this is cool like perks of the job huh yeah and they you know like you're just like yeah I chose the right thing like I'm glad it didn't become a doctor or something I don't like blood or anything so that's so yeah it was cool like yeah those are those are the fun times who was it [Music] h
