05 Welcome back to Careful Boys. Today we're talking about why is Jason Chenny so lonely. >> I'm Rory. I never said that. >> So wrong. >> I did say that one. >> Now you're gaslighting me. >> I lied. >> Nobody. >> You lied. >> No, I didn't. >> Sometimes. Yeah. >> Was it for comedy? >> I would never say that. >> Did you do it for comedy purposes or were you trying to >> We're not gaslighting you. You said the first reason why you like coming here is cuz you're ry. >> Well, I think it's >> Is that part of your Rio set or was it honest? >> It was both. [laughter] Well, I think I think it's u I [snorts] think it's because doing standup is like, you know, it's me and then uh the people that I work with, you know, sometimes it's just a work thing, you know, and you don't really know like is this friendship or is it work and some people prioritize work over friendship, which I understand it's just all work,

55 you know, but then [snorts] u I think over here just like nice and I get to learn and uh >> yeah, >> to learn like we're in the learning center. >> Yeah, learning center. >> He gets to observe humans. Ive humans >> and then also Yeah. And and I feel like everybody's operating at a pretty high level at whatever you guys do. >> You have a belt buckle on your knee. >> Yeah. >> And you tightened it. >> Yeah. >> It's for It's for gays. [laughter] >> To let them know. >> Don't let that distract you. >> It just tells them you're ready. >> Yeah. >> The conrict. >> You moved out here to Vegas. >> Other than your wife, like who's your community out here? Do you have community out here? I I never had a that's why um I I was the first time I ever thought about moving to Vegas. It was like I think maybe a little bit before the Pandy like the first wave >> that that was the first time I ever

45 thought about it. >> Yeah. It's not serious. >> You don't focus on all the death. >> Exactly. You don't focus on the death. So you said Pandy. But then a after um I heard that Bart moved and then everybody wanted to move and I start asking Bart like hey you know like more seriously and also it doesn't matter if I wanted to move the first time because I didn't have money to move and then so um later when I was thinking about it more seriously I asked Bard and then honestly like Bard has really helped me um and made me feel really comfortable and you guys also like because I didn't have a community and and you but in LA like what is a community thing like yes war community is cool but there's no like I don't know if there's a genuine thing and you guys want nothing from me and then so it's like I get to like >> and I want I want something from you

36 guys >> which is learning and then which is like um which is like >> I just don't buy that. I don't buy it. >> You want nothing from me and I want everything. >> I just feel like everything from you. No no just no no [snorts] >> same level I think. Same level >> for me. Same level. We're just on the same level. It's the same ████ >> And and uh and also the genuine connection thing. I I I really enjoy that. And it just feels that you guys are I rarely And then I think age the age thing too. >> Yeah. >> If you're like a boomer then it's harder to connect with the things and then uh with people who are younger it's a little harder to connect also. And then [laughter] >> Sorry. No, it's funny. Try >> to avoid it making noise on the thing when you talk. >> [laughter] >> And then uh >> you didn't have you didn't have like So you were living like in the west side, right? >> Yeah. [snorts] >> So how long did you live there for?

27 >> You didn't have friends and like a community there or nothing like that. >> Our community I think is the the comics like it's fun but with comics is also a little because everybody likes to be you know we're doing things on our own you know and then we go tour and then if you don't aren't selling if you're not at a level you can't bring people with you. So you're just and it's that's even more lonely like I I remember uh anyways like on a cruise ship thing >> when you do colleges and cruise ships when you just like kind of surviving in a year just like a normal job or whatever you're alone and it's like you drive from one city to another check in order and do the thing and you wake up drive 6 hours and perform to nobody and then and it's like super lonely for like for several years but uh and yeah seriously Bart has really the gym I love the jiu-jitsu everybody's so nice and JK

19 and then when I came you guys you know what I mean like anything I ask him I as Bard about the real estate place [laughter] the whole thing is completely gone sorry >> why do you always have this come Heather look on your face >> I don't know it's just because because it when you move it it like bangs against the thing I didn't want to like wreck his audio >> he's always like do you want to ████ >> I don't want to wreck his audio [laughter] but I didn't miss a thing I I heard what you said yeah >> I appreciate that He's opening up, dude. >> No. Yeah, >> you're doing prop comedy. He's [laughter] >> Can I ask you a like a personal question? >> Yeah, you can ask me a personal question. I think it would be hilarious. It's just me opening up my heart and then the whole time the visual is just him. >> No, don't do that. Editors, [laughter] >> don't give them editing ideas. >> Anthony working on the microphone from the last video. >> Like, nobody gives a ████ [laughter]

09 >> for three videos straight. >> Don't give them ideas. Don't give them ideas, dude. Let them do Okay, go outside. your wife like who who do you consider like your closest friends? >> Um, okay. I have I have uh I have three. Can we guess who they are? You won't know. >> Go ahead. >> Is it a dog? >> Yes. >> Pat Pat Riley. Pat Riley. >> Your mom >> is Justin. >> Justin >> is my penis's name. [laughter] >> Pat Riley. David >> Will Pepper. >> How do you know? >> I don't know. [laughter] >> Uh >> skate. Does your penis skate? Yes. >> Sounds like it with the >> but skate with the roller skate, not the ice skate. >> Oh, my bad. >> Yeah. Anyways, what we say? >> You're lonely. You're very lonely. >> Friends. [laughter] >> Um, three best friends. I I think David

00 So, and Pat, they're both super busy, and I would like to see him more, too. So, we just send each other crazy memes. >> But, um, Will Pepper, a Cole Garrett, and, uh, >> uh, Andrea Jin, they're all comics, >> dude. Yeah, they're dope. But they're not in Vegas. >> They're not in Vegas. But even when I'm in LA, everybody's busy, you know. And then also like comics to comics, there's there's always there's sometimes a weird thing of like um not like sometimes people will say a thing like uh cuz there's still like competition. >> Oh yeah. >> You know, so it's like sometimes you just want uh friendship for friendship. I don't know. Like sometimes Yeah. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> That makes sense. But uh but so but m most people don't care. Most people So this is like a weird problem weird thing. I know that most people are just like, "Oh yeah, friendship everybody is fine." But then I really I like the

50 connection thing. Yeah. So uh but yeah. So I I feel like >> So you don't have any genuine friends. >> Um I will say my wife is my good friend, but I I wouldn't I don't see her. >> How well do you know her? >> That not you know what I mean? >> Like if you don't if you don't see her a lot, it's like are we even [laughter] friends? You know what I'm saying? Uh, >> but do you do you you're saying that you have more of a community here than you have back in LA? >> That's what it sounds like you're saying. >> I think that um whenever I hang out with you guys um it it feels more even if it's more sparse. It just feels more like >> uh a little more genuine. But maybe that's just in my head, you know? Maybe everybody's trying to do their best in LA like to be friends. It's just that we all have to, you know, I don't know. Like,

40 >> I mean, if they're industry, I know what you're talking about because there's certain people that like can't turn it off. >> They can't turn off. >> You're like, "We're having dinner. Stop ████ name dropping. Shut the ████ up." >> ████ like that. >> But, but I think I like this group because we all worked >> in that, but we don't bring it in to like >> We also don't give a ████ about >> Let's ████ have lunch. >> 40. I don't give a ████ I think JK at least we we collected a bunch of people that worked in there but they don't bring that ████ here and then so maybe that's what you're kind of sensing. >> It's a huge thing. >> What you've experienced is actually that's the normal. This is the opposite. >> Yeah, that's true. This is the rarity. >> Yeah. >> I I'm just trying to get stage time at Rio. That's why I hang out [laughter] with you. [snorts] >> I'm trying to just milk you. Just want I just want to get front row of your shows, you know, free drinks. >> See ████ like that. He came to my show

30 like who does that? And I know you're really busy, too. [laughter] You know what I mean? And then you you ████ um invite me to everything. >> Like, who does that? >> You tomorrow. You want to go shooting tomorrow? >> I'm very busy. [laughter] >> No, honest. Yes, that I I roll in my phone. That's really nice. >> I'm going I'll be there. I'll be >> Yeah, I would love to shoot, but maybe I don't know. I have to cuz I have ████ I just >> It's not just going to be him. >> I would love if that's why you're saying no. >> No, no, [laughter] I would love to. >> I would like that more. Oh, [laughter] >> just >> I would like that more. >> You go. Oh, >> I don't know. They all bailed. It's just us. [laughter] >> I guess it's just us hunting, right? >> Yeah. >> I guess we should just go to Cafe Gratitude or something, huh? >> Yeah. We're going shooting tomorrow. We're going ski shooting. >> Turns into a date, huh? >> That would be cool.

20 >> His car breaks down. Oh, on the way to go shooting, my car broke down. >> Has anyone ever gave you roadhead before? >> [laughter] >> My hands are stuck up here. [snorts] >> Uh, that's funny. >> Yeah, that's always nice. >> No, he he he he's so cool at inviting people to stuff. He's such a community guy. >> I'm just trying to get stage time everywhere. [laughter] >> FTI, do TFTI? >> Oh my god, this guy. >> No, he's he always tells me thanks for the invite. And then I >> I do not I do not I do not I do not. >> He doesn't go. >> No, but it's really nice to be invited. You just even show up. [laughter] >> And then when I show up, you guys make me watch Kindra's videos. >> Oh, we make you. >> Oh, please. Oh, brother. >> Yeah, that's a new one. >> Interesting. >> Talk about gaslighting. >> Seeing it. [laughter] >> All these guys name dropping all the

10 time. This K. What is Kinjas.com? [laughter] >> Yeah. Anyways, >> I'm glad you feel that way out here, though. >> I'm It's good to know that you're lonely, so we'll invite you to more stuff. Do you have pre-industry friends? >> Yeah, I So that's the only friend that I have that was really close, but that that was like a weird That's the first friend that I have uh pretty much when I went into a public school in 10th grade. And then we always been best friends since. And then uh like a year ago, we went through this weird thing because >> it was a weird thing because I'm like, man, I'm going to buy a house in Irvine one day. I said that and then uh >> is that a dream? Okay. Yeah. See, that's what I'm saying. It's not a dream. >> Yeah. Yeah. And I'm like I I I was like one of my dreams is I want to buy one house in in Irvine. And then um he's

02 like >> he hated you after that. >> He was just like, "Bro, do you know how much houses cost in Irvine?" >> Um >> they should. >> But like I just felt like he wasn't um like he didn't believe in me. >> Oh, rider. He didn't ride. >> But you know what's funny though? It's like Irvine. It's not like >> It's not like Palace of Veries. >> He's acting like this fool said one day I'm gonna have a beach on Manhattan Beach like on the boardwalk like he said Hampton's New York. >> Yeah. What are you talking about? [laughter] >> And then knowing Jason, you know, he's talking about like the regular house in Irvine for like a Yeah. >> Yeah. Whatever. Just a nice neighborhood thing. >> I love Irvine. >> Yeah. >> But anyway, >> that's a nice dream, I think. >> So he goes >> He's like, "You don't got You will never make that. You'll never make it happen. >> But but just he didn't say that word.

53 That's what you felt. He was like, "Oh man, that's expensive." You're like, "You'll never make that." What the ████ That's what you did, huh? >> It's like on the way to Disney, you're like, "I have to pass it." >> Yeah. You have to pass Disneyland if you're going south. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm going south. Well, I was always going >> anyways. But we talked it out and then it's fine. >> What did he say? >> He was like, "It's a misunderstanding or whatever." >> Is this your same friend that that you got beat up during that fight because of that? >> No, that's okay. But uh that that's just crazy that you remember. But yeah, that was a pre and then that's like my only friend and we're really close and um >> now what about your ANA homies? >> I always looked at we have a um I have a friend also and it's >> Oh, cool. >> but we rarely talk. Yeah, it's just because I think >> it's mostly physical. >> My wife. >> Okay. Who's your best friend outside of your wife? >> Probably probably Will because I work with him so much and we I think we have

43 a >> That guy seems really cool. >> He's really cool, man. And he's really funny. And yeah, he does he does his best, too. >> My best friend. [laughter] >> His wife. His wife. >> I I like I like I would like >> What's her favorite color? >> I like it when her hair is like that. >> What's her favorite color? >> We have to Oh, we have [laughter] >> You could even just guess a color. >> Wait, who's your guys's best friend, though? >> Anony's wife. >> Oh, okay. What What about Anthony? >> Uh, this cat named Franklin. >> Damn. Okay, it's personal now. All right, let's
