Street Women Fighter. Yeah, I know. The name is questionable. It's awesome. I would have confused that as like a straightup female UFC dual match. Yeah, it's what exactly what it sounds like, but um it is not that. It's actually a it's like a reality TV dance competition show. So, imagine America's Best Dance Crew or NBC World of Dance. Take that structure, but the difference is uh they film everything. So, all of the um uh rehearsals,
0:51 all the behind the scenes are filmed. They're miked up the entire time. And then you add that with Korean variety show type of editing. Oh, cool. And then they squeeze like the drama and they like do long interviews to try and create drama between the crews. I love I love the Asian editing because it's like if something crazy happens, every repeat it from a different angle, man. Always. Yeah. There's graphics and there's like But the scale is like it looks like a freaking Super Bowl though. Oh, it's insane. like the cuz the first season really took off in Korea and it was just Korean crews, Korean uh female crews and because it took off and it was like kind of a sleeper cuz there was no from what I hear from my friends uh people didn't really have an expectation for it on that first season kind of like ABCDC right that first season there was no expectation but then it blew up cuz if I
1:42 had to actually describe even shorter it's like big brother meets ABDC this show looks like a hundred times in scale ABCDC was down here. Oh for sure. So now like on a dance level they've also I feel like um just evolved to the times. So like ABCDC I feel like was pretty just like cut and paste every episode. Here's a song, make it happen and maybe we'll give you like a dumb challenge that makes no sense. Like do this magic trick in the middle of the song, right? Made no sense. But now there's like the battle episodes, like literally freestyle battle. Here's like create a Tik Tok challenge and which one's going to pop off. Here's like the mega crew. You got to bring like 50 homies. Here, you know what I mean? here's a choreographer, K-pop artist, like it's just like relevant different types of dance. So, like they evolved to the times, which is kind of brilliant on a dance level. And then on the reality TV show level, the big brotherness of it all is they take these interviews and if
2:33 they can extract any juice between the crews, then they set it up where there's this big arena and they'll sit all the crews down and then like a screen pops up and it's like, "Hey, what do you think about Anthony Lee?" And they'll take that one moment and go Good. Overrated, overrated, over and everyone say it again. Say it again. And literally they'll do that and then the editing will also show everyone watching it and goes and they'll be like, "What the f███?" But you hear their mics and sometimes people kind of forget that they're miked the whole time. So all that chatter, imagine like when we were on those shows and the chatter you have. Oh my god. Yeah. All that chatter of just like, "Dude, I can't believe what the f███." And then the editing of the show goes go. I can't believe I can't believe. And then it keeps like weaving together and then

So, right now we're in this is uh it's kind of complicated cuz I think this is like the sixth season, but it's the third season for female cruise, but then there's been a a male iteration that they only did once. Um they did like a contemporary male version. Male's not that entertaining cuz there's not drama. Huh. You know, you know what's interesting? Not talking ████ Actually, there hella is tight. And I didn't really understand why that one didn't pop off as much as the female ones cuz they were like they did the the male version once and they were like nope all female like that's what blows up in Korea. And what I what I realized is that and also from talking to like some of the other even like some of the other judges and getting some insight um is the fact that when you have this much reality and especially like Korean dudes, Asian like who are really down to like be aggressive, right? Is it real?

Cuz the reason why this blew up is it also like it had to pass if it's if only dancers are watching it, these shows are not going to do well, right? Like what's going to be like palatable for the whole audience? And I feel like when it was with females, there was something that is still palatable about seeing them all beef. But when you see guys all talking ████ get so aggressive, especially a bunch of Korean dudes, like it's too much. It's actually kind of jarring to watch and you're like, "Oh, dang. This is like Yeah, it's a little too surreal." Then I feel like, but it's over dance. And so then there's this other unrelatable thing, you know? Oh, yeah. Why do you think that there's like you said that, you know, if they're going to make a show for dancers, like you're probably not going to do really well. I feel like there's dancers coming out of the ████ walls. Well, I feel but I feel like still it's like the people who

M I feel like nowadays what's grown is that algorithms will like show everyone a random cool dance which is different from 10 years ago 20 years ago but even still they're not like most people I feel like are not all following a bunch of dancers and actually care searching for dance cuz to get the numbers you need like the auntie across the street and so they're probably just going to watch the more stories 100% and then they get entertained by the dance and the challenges but yeah really hot women. Is that why they they cancel the guy show though? Cuz guys just want to watch everyone just want wants to watch chicks do stuff. I mean I I don't know. All I know is like just I just know the viewership is much better on the female seasons. I don't know what the actual science is. My assumption is something to do with how it felt more so much more

I think there's something too like um seeing like dudes get so uh angry about like dance battles. That's silly. It just feels like you're watch it. You know, it's the same thing when you watch Step Up where you're like, "Ah, this this is not good for dance in some

And I also feel like in Korea to see like on a show, a variety show like uh women like beefing it and being like it's very contrary, right? And now it is. But the first season and second season was majority Korean. It's just like a different site you don't see on Asian TV. You know what I mean? like hella great. I know online it's doing really well. It's doing better than uh any of their other ones as far as like all the videos attached to it. The all their videos that are attached to it are getting like like a million views in a couple days.

I don't know how Korea is taking this season because um it's this season is the first season where it's so English uh dominant because there's so many international crews. Oh yeah. Yeah. They're trying to like raise the stakes, which is something I think they've done better than like American dance TV shows, which is I feel like American dance TV shows usually they do good in the beginning, but they don't reinvent the wheel. Oh, yeah. So they keep going, "Oh, this works. is tired. Yeah. And so by like season five, people are like American Idol season 74. Whereas this one, they keep raising the stakes, right? Like season 2, Street Woman Fighter, like a couple of international crews came. They saw the success of that and they're like, "Let's

As a judge though, do you get Are you getting ████ at all? Cuz like Oh, 100%. Yeah, I imagine. 100%. What's that like? Um it's crazy to be on the other side because uh you know we've all competed on those shows and to now I feel like things change so quickly where as soon as you sit on the other side if you make one decision that people aren't vibing with this the fandom is it's like it's a double-edged sword because in one sense I'm like man this is amazing that the fandom is like unlike anything I've ever
11:02 seen before on these old dance crew shows because they have such a deeper opportunity to connect with the cruise, right? Remember like in ABC or like World of Dance, you had 30 seconds for this s█████ package. And often times the producers, the American producers would tell you like, "Uh, Kenz, tell us your story." We'd tell them our whole story. And they'd be like, "Hey, can you talk about the Vietnam War?" Yeah. Yeah. So crazy. Literally. And that's your story. And we're only going to take 30 seconds to tell it, too. And not even do it with care. We get to the Roman Empire real quick, bro. That's so wide. The truth, literally. So, like, how how is that palatable to connect with as an audience? Whereas these shows, you have such a deeper connection with them cuz there's the big brother element. Plus, you guys are trying to like, well, you know,

Um I consult for it in the beginning a little bit. So like when they in the past couple of so I was a guest judge for other seasons. Um, and then this is the first time I'm being a judge for the whole season. And I've like uh before the show happens, I'll have like a call with them and they'll always be like, "Yo, what crews are out there right now?" And blah blah blah. And so I'll kind of like drop in names. Um, but as far as like where it's going right now, I'm not like a part of like their editing or anything like that. I was going to ask like how you know how some shows they have a direction and an endgame where they want to arrive. So, they'll just ask a series of questions to get that narrative to get there,

You know what's crazy? online, the fandom accuses this show of of doing that hardcore, like, "Oh, they're totally just" But to my experiences of all the shows I've ever been on, I actually feel like, and don't get me wrong, there are narratives being built because they have so much footage to play with. But I really feel like it's way more raw than anyone realizes. A lot of things are are actually left up to chance where I'm like really surprised about. Like I came and judged a live finale like as my second time ever judging this show. I I was a guest judge once and then I just happened to be in Korea again. So they're like, "You want to judge the
13:34 live finale?" And for a live taping to like all of Korea, my prep time was like I showed up and they just put me on camera. Wow. And I'm like, "Yo, what if I just like said some like crazy s███?" It's all live. Yeah, it's all live. A live broadcast. Random American dude. of all people, he's the one that's doing it. You guys heard the new Kanye banger. That slaps. So, when they introduced like it to be international cruise, right? But is it is English the dominant language that they Yeah. This season, English is dominant, but the the host and then like um so JYPp, he's like one of like the big K-pop like mogul of Korea. He's one of the judges also and he's like super bilingual. Uh actually speaks a bunch. So is the show done in

I see but then there's intermixed like languages like but a bunch of languages cuz a lot of Japanese too cuz two Japanese crews and so the subtitling is just through the roof everywhere. But again so it's kind of like a guinea pig. They're just trying it and I'm kind of impressed. That's really cool how they're bringing the world in. Who else is there? Like Russia, they have um America. There's an American crew. There's two. Is that one Marley's crew? Yeah, Marley's crew. Motive crew and logistics. Is it all like like coro dance style or like what is it? There's uh there's a bunch of crews, a bunch of different styles. Yeah. Yeah. cuz I heard that uh Russia's twerk style team is like really crushing

There was a clogging team. There was people that did like Yeah. completely different. And it was like jump rope team is whack, brother. Sorry. That's absolutely whack. Those are your people. Um like there's been death threats to past judges of this season. Why? Cuz their guy didn't win. The fandom gets so crazy and now it gets into this whole other social conversation of like psychology and you know what I mean? It gets like the mob mentality and how people start to view in my opinion like even how classism I feel like gets woven into this big brother aspect and then you have these
