Nigel. >> Full-time, that's tight, dude. >> Tight stuff. >> Hella tight. >> So, are you like turning up the amount of shows you're doing now? >> Um I'm trying to. Turn Turn it up more shows, and then I did um uh my first late show, actually, like 2 weeks ago. But that pay was terrible, actually. >> Your first late show? >> Yeah, like this talk show thing. >> Oh, okay. It's so boring. >> He was talking to someone else and I was like And I was there for like 5 hours cuz there's like makeup, waiting, and stuff. >> Oh, yeah. >> Did he do the crazy segway to you guys where he's like, "So, I heard you had a wheelchair accident." >> [laughter] >> And then then you're supposed to That's a setup for your you to do your bit. >> He was like, "Oh, tell us about your mom." Yeah, yeah, yeah. >> [laughter] >> Let me lock it >> set set you up for your bits. I was so So, the backstory of that, I was in the audience for one of those

01 when I first moved to LA, and they gave us like ████ five bucks to sit there for like 8 hours, and we all had to pretend to clap and laugh the whole time cuz Byron Allen was not slinging it. Like he was just whiffle balling all day. >> It's been on that long? >> That's the forever >> That was 2007. >> How is it still ████ getting funded? Who watches that? >> He's a He is a a genius. >> Oh, it's good. >> No, he's a brilliant guy. He's like a billionaire, I think. Like he's just He got that thing in syndication and just started cooking. >> Yeah, yeah, yeah. >> Oh, the host himself is a baller. So, it's his passion project. >> Yeah, he But he's like mega genius. >> He has several things going. >> Oh, ████ >> It's just one of his He's like a mega producer and ████ >> I should ask him for money. >> Yeah, you ████ blew it. Probably. >> But well, I was on there cuz I was trying I'm going my I'm going on my first solo tour, comedy tour. >> dude. Let's go. >> Hey, yo.

51 >> Where where are the what cities are you doing and what dates? >> Uh I'm doing Irvine Improv on August 23rd. And then after that, I'm going to Houston and uh Dallas and Austin in September. Just >> Oh, that's tight. >> Like fake crowd work Vietnamese thing. >> Wow. Do you have a website or >> willpepper.com >> Uh willpepper.com. Yeah, willpeppercomedy.com. That's where you can find all the dates. >> Okay, we'll put it at the link below for you guys to check out. And then this is the the you said this is the first tour that you're doing without Jason. >> Yeah, I've been touring with Jason for like 2 years and this is the first time I'm like taking a step out. >> How's that feel like when you're like he

42 I I'm I don't have my travel buddy with me. I got to do it all by myself. >> I've the first time I got paid, I did San Diego and the clubs kind of do this, but I sold like 50 tickets. >> Wow, that's good. >> And um but they paid me and they were like only 35 people showed up. And I was like no. >> [laughter] >> Based on the seating and stuff. >> Yeah, you're like I got I see 50. >> Yeah, like the all all the seats were full. It doesn't make sense. The math doesn't make sense. >> You got Tel Aviv, my friend. >> And I got Tel Yeah. >> [laughter] >> But I lost money. Like you know, to doing ads, you know, doing hotel, food. I kind of broke even and then I called Jason. I showed him I think my hand was shaking. Like bro, this is crazy. I'm like and then he started laughing like crazy. >> Why? >> He's like, oh ████ like welcome to like you're doing your own show now. This is a part of the journey. You got to get ████ >> Oh, yeah. >> The club ████ you?

32 >> Yeah, I low-key yeah. >> So when you were touring with Jason, he was kind of like big brother and he can kind of like protect you from like the logistics and financial part of it. Is that what it is? >> Well, he would tell me about like, "Oh my god, like this thing is ████ up." or whatever. >> Yeah. >> But it didn't affect you. >> Yeah, I'm like, "Oh, you're making still making thousands or whatever, it's fine." And now that I'm in here like like closer to being in his shoes, then I'm like, "What the ████ That was just terrible." And he was like, "Yeah, I ████ I've been trying to tell you for the past 2 [laughter] years and you didn't give a ████ and then look at you now, motherfucker." >> That's why he's laughing at you. >> [laughter] >> Yeah. >> In your face. >> Cuz now you're experiencing it first hand. >> Right, so >> A lot of learning. >> Is that why you're out here this week so you could do more shows? >> Um I just got I got a to audition for like LA Comedy Club. And then um last night I just got passed, so I get to come back more often.

22 >> How did the audition work? >> Um you just do like uh like 5 to 10 minutes and then the owner watches you and if he likes you, he just passes you and then you get booked more often. >> At LA Comedy Club? >> Yeah, it's at the Strat. >> But it's called the LA >> Yeah, it's called LA Comedy Club. >> Yeah, yeah, yeah, I've seen that spot, yeah. >> What the hell? >> I guess it's like Planet Hollywood. >> Yeah, it's like Planet Hollywood. >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah. >> It's just yeah. >> So you audition and he liked you, so he's going to bring you back way more? >> Yeah, I'm doing one tonight and then um >> Oh, that's great, dude. >> you for like a week, so I'm trying to come back more often. >> That's awesome. >> Is that why you want to move to Vegas cuz there's a lot of opportunity to like get your miles in for comedy or >> It's probably the best city that's like a for like not LA prices, but but the comedy scene is still similar to LA, I would say. >> Cuz you could do comedy in LA, but you get eaten alive by like traffic, gas, rent. >> You could be a you could be a uh

13 home owner as a comedian, isn't that crazy? >> That's unheard of. >> Yeah. >> [laughter] >> Isn't that ████ crazy? >> Yeah, and I like I like to >> even have to be the ████ top celebrity comedian. >> Right. >> Like a regular just like a normal guy. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, most of the guys here are like like they have they're doing good. >> Yeah. >> Do you remember one of our first trips out here for like our JK trips? We were in the taxi and the taxi driver was telling us how he owns three homes. >> yeah. >> And then we're like >> about that for? >> We're like Wait, what else do you do? And he goes, I just drive taxi and then I just buy houses cuz they're like 200,000. And we're like What the ████ I'm like, me and Joe are world-famous YouTubers and we don't own three houses. >> [laughter] >> We didn't even I didn't even own one. >> Yeah. >> I never owned a house in California. >> dude, that's ████ crazy. >> It is ████ crazy. >> is crazy. >> Yeah, it was just the taxi driver. He

03 like escaped from some war country. >> Yeah. >> And then he is like, I just come here and then I >> I just buy a house. >> Oh, he's Russian? >> Yeah. >> Oh. >> Yeah, but like if you if a house was like 80 grand >> You're right. >> It's like a car payment. >> Exactly. In California I had a condo and it was like 700 G's. >> What the ████ >> You're insane. >> Yeah, and he bought three homes here. Imagine how much they're worth now. That's crazy. >> I guess how do you need like how much do you need for to have a house nowadays? >> Well, there's a lot of a loan programs. You need like 20% down or first first-time home buyer could be like 5%. >> Yeah. Your stress level will probably be way lower living out here, too, than LA. >> I am stressed if I got here. >> In LA? >> Yeah, because I got to like it's just so expensive. Like ████ just adds up so quick. >> Yeah. >> And then the shows are like >> I >> Like they're like like fun shows, but I drive like an hour and a half sometimes. >> Yeah. And then you're in traffic for

53 like 2 hours. >> Yeah, and I do 10 minutes. >> Yeah. >> And I'm like, all right, bye. And I'm like, what the ████ was that? I >> I remember those. >> That was crazy. >> And even just paying for parking, you're already out of a ton of money. >> is expensive, too, and everything. >> I remember I would used to do Laugh Factory, but I would drive from Monterey Park to Laugh Factory. So, that's at least I don't know, 10, 15 bucks. And then when you go there, you have to valet or else you're going to be driving around for an hour, right? So, you already pay another 20 bucks. >> Yeah. >> And then uh you would get a check, though, and it'll be like $35. >> Okay. >> And then but then I have to drive home or I'm tired or I eat. And then so I'll spend like 50 bucks going up and I get 35 bucks. That doesn't even come to that day. Comes like at the end of the month. >> And then you also waste like 6 hours because you drive there, you have to wait for your turn, and then after that you have to drive back, and if it's during >> Yeah. And that's when we were doing

43 YouTube, and I'm like, "All right, I spend this time and I make a video, and there's 300,000 views." And I was like, "I think I'm just going to keep doing YouTube." >> [laughter] >> That's way better, yeah. Remember that time, though? It was right around the time when comics were like, "Oh, you came up on the internet, you're fake. You're not real, you're not good enough." >> so funny. >> They were somewhat right. Cuz a lot of the people just were whiffle balling out there big time. >> But a lot of the greatest now, they came up early during that time, like Russell Peters and all that. And then like, they were all >> YouTube helped them, yeah. >> They were all like seasoned dudes that just so happened to go viral. And then it was like, all the guys that that were like jaded cuz they're like, "Oh, you guys you guys ████ cheated. You weren't coming up grinding like me." They never actually were good. >> I see. >> They're just like those purists that were like, "Oh, yeah, you're just hating cuz you just suck."

33 >> sense if you have time to have that conversation. >> Remember Bo Burnham? >> [laughter] >> Yeah. >> Bo Burnham was the first, I think, who really crossed over cuz he came up on the tubes, and then he became like a professional professional comedian. >> Was he He also came up had a keyboard, too, right? >> Yeah, yeah, yeah, I remember him. Yeah, he was good. >> Killed it. >> Yeah, he was great. >> Him and I I I I can't remember if there was another one, but there's very few. Like Joe said, there's a lot of snobbery in the comedy world, but I don't I can't think of like a tuber who who like came from comedy other than Bo Burnham or came from our world and crossed over into their world. >> Or like Or you mean like YouTube-y? Like Like Like a bedroom comedian? >> Started tuber thing and then became like a >> Like Donald Glover, right? >> Oh, yeah, Donald Glover, for sure. >> Yeah. >> Have you guys seen Anna Akana do stand-up? >> Mhm. >> Oh, she's really good. >> Solid, yeah. >> She's awesome, yeah. Her all of her content's really good. I still watch it now, yeah.

24 >> And a very nice person. >> Yeah, she's super nice. Cool, man. Good luck on your tour, man. That's Oh, thank you. I appreciate it. Yeah, thanks, guys. And and welcome to Vegas. Hell yeah.
