I hit download and then I would go to church and then come back home and it'd be almost done. And that's if the download didn't for no reason stop, you know? Sometimes it just stops. Or it's the the song itself is incomplete. >> And then the back of your computer screen's this big. Oh yeah, that's right. Fire, yeah. something and then you'd be like, "Yeah, I got it." And also like with a mini disc, the way it like opens stuff, it's like flimsy. You have to really take care of this hardware that's like super soft. >> Explain the the how revolutionary mini disc was. Like why is that so special? Honestly, this comes down to like the same as like Blu-ray disc versus like HD-DVD. You're just kind of taking a bet on where music might go as a player. And I remember being like, I really want this mini disc player cuz I didn't know if it was going to just be like MP3 stuff, which the iPod ████ everything up after that. But this is before the iPod, so I got this mini disc player and then you would just like a cassette player that you would back in the day maybe have to like record a song from the radio. But that would only hold like maybe like 10 songs, right? And then you'd have to fill your cassette and change it. This I remember it being like, yo, you could hold like 33 songs or something. >> It had the did It had the digital aspects of CD. So you know cassette, if you want to go from one song to to the other, you just have to fast forward. There's no track one, track two, track three on a on a on a cassette. CD, you can. So it did all the CD functions, track one, track two, track three, but it was unscratachable like a cassette. >> And it didn't skip when you like moved it? >> No, it didn't Wow. >> It's a big deal. >> tape and then CD and then making this new dope thing. No. So So you take like you take one VCR,
8:34 right? And you put your blank tape in there. Right. You take a second VCR, and whatever tape you want to dub, you put that video in there. And then you link the audio and visual like to the VCR to VCR, and then the second VCR to the TV. So that way you can see what's happening. I play with whatever tape I'm going to dub on VCR 1, and I hit record on VCR 2. So VCR 2 is recording whatever showing on the screen. So any video you want to play that's on display, your second VCR is recording. I have done this. Do you know what I'm talking about? Yeah. >> Remember getting my ass ████ beat because I tried to do this and on a protected tape, and then I did it on the other one, so I deleted a tape and recorded blank over on top of it. Oh my god, you're nuts. And I got in so much trouble. Yeah. So that's the way that like the way that you would tape
9:24 something on TV was with one VCR, right? Like, "Oh, this is playing on TV. I better tape it." But if you if you hooked up that second VCR, then you could control what's on TV. And that's how what I would do is I would I I film like at school with my camcorder or whatever. And then like I would play literally scene by scene. I would be like, "Oh, I remember when my friend did this funny thing." So, I'll play it on VCR one, record on VCR two, and then stop it. "Oh, I remember when my friend did this other thing." All right, take that tape out, get this other tape, fast forward to whatever that scene is, play that for that 3 seconds, and then hit record. And just did that all night long. That's how like when I was 16, I made these videos like of my high school and ████ >> You have it still? >> Wow. >> why like this is all like in with doing that thing where like I'm just like uh this isn't edited on a computer. And if you want to be even crazier, one more level above that if you had a stereo boombox, you could get a mic plug-in that goes into uh the the audio of the VCR and you can add music. But you have to play a tape or a CD and then you have to like yeah, plug it in. Plug in long way to Cool. But all of course all this stuff is obsolete. There are no VCRs. All of this on your phone.
