00 Welcome back to another episode of He keeps touching it. He keeps touching it. >> [laughter] >> He can't stop. It's a nervous tick. What are you talking about? Your mic's not even on. Oh, ████ Oh, do you have it on this other one? >> fell. Are you sure? He keeps touching it. He keeps touching >> [laughter] >> Mic brothers over here. Hey, take it easy, dancer boy. That's so fitting being paired with him. That's the [laughter] first time he's called you dancer boy. >> I didn't like it. I'm not going to do it again. I'm not doing it again. >> Keep it in. Keep it in. Keep it in. Welcome back to another episode of the Careful Boys. We got Kamaka here with us today, y'all. What's up? Hey, how's it? How's it? >> How's it? How's it? How's it? Teaching us the pigeon. Doing a lot of fun stuff lately. Like that That's the Hollyway. >> [laughter] >> What a Hollyway, dude. Oh, we touched on this real quick for like half a second and then never went
50 back to it, but I looked at Ryan, he made eye contact with me. He's like, that's a good topic. So, we're going back into it, all right? Nobody ever addresses the perks of divo- divorce, all right? Everybody talks about how and all the trauma and the things that ████ you up afterwards. Let's talk about the perks from some of our people here. Wait, wait, wait. Like getting divorced or Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry. No, no, no. About your parents About your parents going through divorce. Divorced parents. >> AS A KID. >> [laughter] >> THAT'S IT MAYBE IN some states. Yeah. My dad's girlfriend. Are we the only ones that come from a product of divorce? >> I have divorced parents. Oh, okay. Yeah, let's go, divorced brother. Hi, Makamak. >> [laughter] >> No, it's low Makamak. Yeah, so obviously some of us who have like loving and privileged parents lifestyles, we just want to know the
41 perks >> the perks of your parents going through divorce. My perk is zero parental control cuz they're too busy fighting each other. >> [laughter] >> I see zero. They're so ████ busy fighting each other, going through all this ████ that I could do whatever the ████ I wanted. >> think it's also cuz they're trying to cater to you or like earn favor with you and be the favorite? >> bro. It [laughter] was a It's funny as ████ >> dark, dude. Yeah, it's so real, bro. Insanely dark. >> Okay, at the time, right? I think at Maybe if I was six, I would probably feel like a lot more like, "No." But I'm 14. SO I'M LIKE, "F███ YEAH!" AND THEN YOU DON'T WANT TO BE AROUND your parents anyway. Yeah. So like, I stay out all night. I'll stay out for days. I'll ████ do all that ████ >> 14 is a large gap and there's a couple viewers right now that are maybe 9-year-olds going through their parents' divorce. Like where where do you
33 >> [laughter] >> Where's the line where it's like a a a a s█████ thing versus a sick So my parents got divorced when I was six. And I remember going, "Yay! The angry man is going to leave." >> [laughter] >> Holy ████ No, cuz that fool cuz that fool would get ████ pissed, beat the living ████ out of me. All I see is him screaming at my mom all ████ day. And then uh yelling at my other relatives I would come stay with us. So he was like an angry angry dude. And then so when the big scary scary man gets to leave, then I'm like, "Yay!" >> [laughter] >> I was just going to say extra Christmas presents, but I don't know what to say after that. >> [laughter] >> Toys were good. >> Yeah, you get double Christmas. >> Yeah, you get double Christmas, yeah. Well, I didn't get double Christmas, but what I try to ask my mom for, she says
23 no. The chances are my dad would get it. Oh, yeah. McDonald's every Tuesday, boy. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean I had a I have great step parents, so I grew up with like I know it's hard for them, but it was it was they made it easy for us. So like I was young, maybe like six six years old. It was 1999, I think. So six years old, yeah. >> So was it like a peaceful, amicable >> To in in our mind. I didn't realize till I was later that it was like there was a bit drama. Like You of what's the change in your parents' marital stat, like how I I remember the night they told us we were divorced and I was so young, I felt like I had to react. I and I was like I remember flipping chairs. But what I wasn't angry. I was just like I feel like I need to do this. >> Or it just felt it felt appropriate. >> Yeah, yeah, like I need to like have a reaction. Cultural like TV ████ Like
14 you saw enough on TV like I don't know if I saw I was watching cartoons back then and Sailor Moon wasn't getting divorced and >> [laughter] >> Sweet. You were just tearing up the house going like I guess. I was like He's like I should be the >> look at that damn like Sailor Mars. >> Did I do that? He's [laughter] performative. Yeah, yeah. Is this the reaction you wanted? >> I only remember once my dad um he came into when we were watching Star Wars 1 with my stepdad um at the time before he was my stepdad and he I just remember watching it and our dad comes in and takes us out. That's the only like bad memory in the middle of it. But you didn't even finish watching your show. >> Yeah, yeah. And other than that like they're all like my my parents are all cool. We we sit at the same table. We were they family dinners. They're like we're we're cool. But yeah, I I know it wasn't easy for them for sure. But did you feel any extra perks of like since
06 they got divorced now life is better? >> Well, yeah, and then my dad lived in Oahu so in the summers we'd come to Oahu and then like you know, have like eat certain things with this family and like we probably eat out with my dad more. Cuz he doesn't want to cook and then with my mom instead. Kind of broadens your experiences as a kid, yeah. So when did your divorce? I don't know if I was watching Sailor Moon after >> [laughter] >> It's Sailor Mars and she was the hot one. Mars was the hot one? Jupiter is the hot one, bro. Nah, Jupiter had a way better American voice actor. She got a rasp. She's I like the green. I'm just saying. Continue your story about your parents' divorce, sorry. Uh no, I mean that was pretty much it. Like, we I it's extended family, extra So, I think as a kid, it's awesome cuz you have like a step sister, half brother, sisters, aunties, uncles, cousins.
56 It's good when you're young cuz you're getting all the presents on birthdays, you know, whatever graduation, you get extra love. But, when you're older, it's like, presents. You got to buy the presents. And, you know, like now I have Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. [laughter] Okay. Okay. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Cut this out. Cut this out. Cut this out. Guys, did you try to ████ get your parents back together like in movies and ████ Yeah, you never None of you No. But, No. In my mind, like I I play a lot of sports cuz my dad was single for some of that. I would be like, oh, I I think your mom and my dad should Like, in my head, I would think that. >> And, then we'll be real brothers. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I would think about it. It never happened. >> Your dad and my dad. >> [laughter] >> No, you know what's crazy? So, my dad, he he married my mom. Her birthday's May 9th. The lady my dad dated after my mom
46 is May 9th. And, my stepmom is May 9th. That's the type. >> they all get together and celebrate their birthdays? Dang, dude. That's the type. Mary carries my parents. May 9th. Mission to get your parents back together? Dude, I didn't even know my dad left FOR A WEEK. >> [laughter] >> I'M OUT. I WAS ████ SMOKING A CIGARETTE in the garage like this. >> [laughter] >> AND, MY MOM'S LIKE SHE'S LIKE, "DO YOU EVEN know what happens in this house?" And, I'm all like, "I JUST GOT HOME." AND, THEN SHE'S LIKE, >> [laughter] >> SHE'S LIKE, "YOUR FATHER HASN'T BEEN HERE FOR A WEEK." AND, I'm all like, "I'mma spark another one up for that fool there." >> [laughter] >> Dedication. You know, um, what I liked about it though, the biggest perk was I had a unseasonal Santa Claus. So, so >> just get random presents.
36 >> Randomly. Like, randomly, like I'll I'll come home and there's like a ████ wrapped up box and I'm like, what the ████ And then this was before Amazon. So that feeling of like, wow, I have a I have a gift. And then you rip it open and it was like it'd be like a TV with like a VHS attached. What ████ Yeah, and I'm like You think like that? Yeah. Snipped his piano ████ strings? I did it worse than that, but yeah. After you told his friends to leave. So did your dad actually pay up child support and like did all that proper stuff? Later on um when I was going to high school and and I needed some like high school clothes and stuff. My mom asked him if he could like kick down like a hundred two hundred bucks a month. And he's like, you trying to run me dry woman? You trying to ████ jack me? >> That's too much. That's too much money.
27 I'M GOING TO GO BROKE. >> SO he wasn't paying the regular No, but he would randomly like drop off gifts or like just it would just appear out of nowhere. And then like I thought that was kind of cool. >> Was there any message on it for you or He wrote me a letter. Okay. One time he wrote me a letter saying like Confession. No, it was actually a good letter. I have it somewhere still too. He he wrote it in cursive in English. >> Oh wow. Yeah, I can't read Japanese, but like I think he had a friend write it for him. But the essence of it was like I didn't aim high in life. And he goes, you can only get up to your expectations. So he's like, that's why I also failed. And I have high expectations for myself. And he goes, don't be like me and like just aim for ████ the top. >> Cuz you don't know what you're going to get. So it was a really good bedtime It sound like a suicide note damn near. It probably was because
18 Yeah, he yeah. It sounds like what the the dad writes his kid at the beginning of Battle Royale. Yeah. Yeah. But it was literally like half of it was like it's not about like you didn't ████ anything up. I'm a failure. I can't face my fears. Like it was a lot of that ████ That's kind of a sick perk of divorce. Yeah. Just like a a crazy moment of actual reflection and honesty from a parent. I mean just like His dad doesn't talk to him that much. He's not that mean. >> 17, I think. Like 3 years into 4 years or something like. So I was much older then. But I think he wanted to like write that, "Hey, it's not your fault. Like whatever happened, like I was the failure." >> turn out with the same traits that he didn't like about himself. >> Yeah, and I think he just Yeah, the perfection ████ Like I think I think he was so neurotic and like he didn't want me to be that way. And at the bottom
08 it's like "Can I borrow 200 bucks?" >> [laughter] >> TO GIVE TO YOU? >> [laughter] >> IT'S LIKE WHAT YOU DID WITH THE DRINK EARLIER. GOOD CALLBACK. A legitimate question. Do you feel like um if you are from a divorced household, like that door of possibility in your own relationship or marriage is like a little closer? I think it's the it's one or the other. You know like everything it's always like extreme this way or extreme this way. So I think because I saw the way a divorce was, for me I'm like the minute I have kids, divorce is out the window. You know, I'm like that's I never want to >> all these perks that kids have when you divorce. I was cuz I was the one that went through the process. So for me I'm like I would never want to put my kid what I went through. >> yeah. But then I think for other people it's like you're prone to repeat the
58 cycle, right? You either repeat the cycle or you break the cycle. And I think in my mind it clicked somewhere where it's like I'm going to there's I'm going to break the cycle. >> Statistically you're more likely to get a divorce if your parents did, you know. You'll never get a divorce no matter what. >> [laughter] >> That's such an Omicron way of saying it. >> right? He didn't even He didn't even fully turn around. Omicron's like even if someone made a bunch of websites >> [laughter] >> and you're like, "Wait, what's the context of that?" >> Probably not. Got it. Probably he's like 18 maybe, I don't know. Oh, okay. >> Probably not. >> [laughter] >> That's very Chinese. That's really romantic. >> Asian to be like "We're going to stay for the kid even if I like hate your guts." Yeah, that's that's nice when people do that. Yeah, that's that's chances are that's what a lot of people feel obligated to at least Yeah. So my parents have been married for like 40 ████ years or something like that, but not the best marriage in my opinion. And I think I learned a lot of like what not to do from watching my
48 old man like scream at my mom. >> [laughter] >> Yeah, you either repeat the cycle or you break it, right? Yeah. So scream louder. It's like what not to do. It's like probably don't do that, right? >> [laughter] >> Don't scream. Probably don't scream at your chick. >> so soft. But that's like is that the extent of like he would just scream? He wouldn't do nothing Like he was not physical. Breaking anything in the house? Putting holes in the drywall? No, it was pretty cool. Well, we you cuz you keep more stuff. And then we're hoarders. You Yeah, that's true. They love keeping stuff. Their their hoarder tendency was so strong that their that their household violence had to be put in check. dedicated Hell yeah. He used to break ████ at the laundromat? You know, I feel my dad is a lot smarter than I gave him credit for as a kid. It was like how I used to say like damn dude is full of survival. He used to throw ████ at ████ at me and I always used to be like man this ████ have a bad aim.
38 And I was like [laughter] wait, I think he was just trying not to hit me. Cuz I would always be like oh my god, I can't BELIEVE THAT MISSED. >> [laughter] >> MY DAD HAD GOOD AIM. SAME. Cuz one of the worst times ever was like he was whipping my ass all over the house, right? And I remember running through the the you know the side alleyway of a house. I was like I'm ████ running for my life. And then I had a old wooden baseball bat on the ground. He grabbed it and because I was running away, he chucked it and went who who who who and boom it hit me on the on my leg. I remember like flying in the air landing on the ground and going that was the most crazy cuz I felt it to my bone. Like that was the craziest pain ever. And then after you grow up and you play ████ carnival games and ████ you're like god damn that guy's aim was good? >> [laughter]
29 >> THAT'S THIS BIG, TOO. IT'S It's not even like you grow up and you're like, "That was domestic violence." >> [laughter] >> Yeah, you just give props. Yeah. That's very hard to do, throwing a bat. Oh, yeah. And making it spin like this and ████ >> Yeah. The one of the most ████ up things I think about all the time and then I look back in embarrassment, but like I guess it's kind of sweet, too, is when my voice changed, I sounded quite a bit like my old man on the phone. Oh. And so one time my mom called or my dad My mom got a phone call or some ████ And I remember picking up the phone like talking >> sexting her. Talking to my mom, yeah. And I was like, "Are you touching your ████ Touching your little ████ ████ for me?" >> [laughter] >> ████ sick, dude. ████ disgusting. >> You set it up. I didn't ████ do that. [laughter] That wasn't That wasn't where I was going. Oh my god, dude. >> He's sick. No, so I was like I remember talking to my mom on the phone
20 and and she thought it was my old man. She got really thought it was your dad. She thought it was my old man and she was like She just started going off. She was like, "Chuck, I need blah blah blah blah blah blah blah." And I was like, "Uh Sherry, I just want to let you know that I love you so much." I really did that. And it's kind of embarrassing, but I really just wanted my mom to know that she was loved. Wow. >> What a weird AT THAT POINT IS SHE'S LIKE, "Are you KIDNAPPED RIGHT NOW? WHO'S MAKING YOU SAY THIS?" >> That's like in Terminator 2 when he's like, "Your dad is dead." >> [laughter] >> It's like that. And then And then she was like She was like, "Chuck, when you when you get home I'm going to suck your ████ ████ OFF." >> [laughter] >> I DON'T KNOW HOW ELSE TO GET OUT OF IT. >> SUCH A thoughtful ████ weird ass kid. [laughter] He's like, "I want my dad to get a blowjob."
