00 [Music] and welcome back to a double news episode of the career boys where today we're not even going to worry about what this is. Joe, what's the most recent news on your mind? Gen Z workers are getting fired at a alarming rate at the highest rate that ever in the history of like justifiably fired. Like they're doing wrong. A lot of them are just getting fired. We talked to one of our homies who works at this furniture store and we were like uh what's it like working with all like the Gen Z folks and she's like they're either really good or they'reing awful. So she had like this one she had a Gen Z person and all they she was like hey can you do this? Can you just handle these rugs and then she comes back and she's like you didn't finish the rugs. She was
50 like yeah like my my hands are hurting. I just can't. I'm just I won't be able to do it. And she was like well do you need help? I can send you help. She was like, "Yeah, just my hands hurt, so I don't I'm not going to be able to do that." So, what do they do every time? I don't know. But it just she says this happens all the time where like you'll ask them to do something and they just won't do a task and then they have to talk to them like, "Hey, can you do the task?" And they're like, "Yeah, like I got to think." Who raised them though? That's weird. It'sing crazy that like the the sense of self-ride is gone, you know? Like there's like this era where it's like even if you work at McDonald's, Chick-fil-A, whatever your entry- level job, you try to do everything to the best of your ability because it represents who you are. Yeah. But and so you take that so you extract as much knowledge as you can from your
40 first job, you bring to your second job and then kind of your skills and your characteristics improve over time. Now, I feel like the thing, the grudge about Gen Z is the minute they come in is I'm only going to apply myself as much as I think this job needs me for. So, it's a different relationship versus, oh, cool. I got hired as like this intern at like ████ Kinko. I'm just going to try to crush it as hard as I can and learn as much as I can. like they don't really it's it's a different like type of complaint that I get. Do you think it has to do with the fact that wages don't are not like a living wage? No, I think they love that. I mean, it's always been like that though. I mean, when we started working in like high school and it was not a living wage 650 an hour. Yeah, it was never it's never meant to be a but the but proportionally it's still way off. Yeah, it's way off. It's way off. Don't you think of inflation? I
31 guess to their credit it's not so much just Gen Z. Maybe it's like our entire society now is more in like get as much as possible for as little amount as little work as possible. I mean you we got like the like the only fans era, right? Where you can get like more money than a NBA basketball player. That's trippy by showing some nips. Yeah. You know, so it's kind of like those girls hustle though. They work hard. Some might say some might say it's hard in case they see us. Yes. In case they see us won't have sex. Or we live in like a lawsuit era where if you like, you know, step on or burn yourself or whatever, you can get like multi-million dollar lawsuit for, you know, and people's lives gets changed over nothing that the idea of like working hard feels we're hardly working. Come on.
21 You know what I'm saying though? Like I feel like as a society like we're we're all more catered towards that mentality. So, like Gen Z now being in the minimum wage workforce, they probably are like, "This sucks ass." I think it's cool when you see someone be creative where you have like a person at KFC who now makes more than their manager because they're vlogging the cooking, dude. Legit, those guys are hustlers. But you like those guys because you see them working and you're like, "These guys are killing it." You know, like there's one guy who makes Papa John pizza. Papa John's guy is singing it and he just he's talking about he's like I don't want to ████ make this pizza at like 9:00 right before I close. You know he's talking about like the regular like woes of anybody who works a regular s█████ job like that. But the whole like what Barbara was saying the whole point of it is like yeah you ████ hate it and it sucks but you still do it anyway. You still try to do your best you can. Pride. Yeah, exactly. That guy takes pride is pizzas, dude. How does how does
12 that work though? Like Papa John is just cool with that. It's they just put him in a commercial. I saw him on a commercial. Well, probably because if if he gets a certain amount of views, they're like, "Yo, he's helping our brand." You know, there's going to I bet they have analytics where they're like, "Oh, anytime this guy posts, we get x amount more." The comments on his little shorts are just like, "I am getting Papa John's tonight. I'm getting Papa John." I don't know if he does it, but I do know that some people that film content at like a workplace like that, they're actually not on the clock. Some people, they just film it. It's after sense cuz do you ever see anybody behind this? They'll buy their own They'll buy their own order. They'll buy their own pizza and then just make it. That's true. They are usually by themselves. It's not usually like like in the middle of the day. It's like kind of after. Have you seen the Only Fans girls that wear just like uniforms that are like Chick-fil-A and all that and they pretend that they're at work and I'm like that kitchen does not look like a Chick-fil-A kitchen. Yeah. And they're bending over
02 and stuff. Dude, I was I was going out in my yard the other day working on my lawn and ████ like that. I get all excited and and these He's a man. These little dogs run across the street at me, right? and starts biting my leg. Little dog. ████ ankle bite. Yeah, ankle biters. And I was like, "Oh s███." I was like, "All right, neighbors dogs got out, right?" And I go across the street and I'm like trying to figure I'm like trying to knock on the door and there's like techno music blaring through the ████ door. And I was like, "What the hell's going on?" I was like, "The dogs are still biting my legs and s███." And then finally, I go around the side gate. Side gates open. So I'm trying to get the dogs back in there. And then finally I make it around. One of them opens the door. Huge fake tits wearing like a ████ fairy costume. Not kidding. And in the background there's like ████ ring lights and ████ like that. And like the girls like across the street from me are like Only Fans chicks. And they have like an Only Fans house. So you have a binocular? Oh, it's
52 like a content creator house. It's a bop house. I'm staying at your house, dude. You know what I mean? Check it out. Um but but those girls like I think that's like their whole hustle. That's That's what Dude, they probably kill it. They're killing it. And they just got a golf cart yesterday. Got a golf cart shipped in. I text my buddy Ryan. I'm like, "Dude, there's like a ████ retro golf cart out there." I'm like, "Nikki, there's a retro golf cart out there." And it it is still the coolest golf cart I've ever seen. And I just saw that ████ yesterday. And they're they're just living the sweet life, having a good time. Dude, that's kind of like when we had a YouTube house, except we're not jacking off yet. We'll probably have to do that eventually in a couple years, maybe. Jerk House would be fun. Jerk House would be good. Yeah. On the same on the on the other token, it is crazy as like some Gen Z's are more industrious than ever cuz if they are filming non-stop making crazy content, they have to build their own LLC's,
42 whatever. There's like that side of the fence, people that are down to stream ████ 24 hours a day. Like, those kids are hardcore, bro. And then you have the ones that are like the on the article. They always have sick cars in the outside. Like sick cars. It's crazy how imagine if if YouTube money was the way it was when we got started. Oh yeah. Cuz like back then there was no way to monetize. If you got a million views back in the day, you got like $1,500. Yeah. Yeah. We love it. Get it for the like people now. You get plugged into a system. Like if you're 20, you go viral. Like you're plugged into a whole economy and you can start crushing. Start crushing ass too. Yeah. It's a different It's a different It's different. Um, I I recently watched this video too about Gen Z being two different cultures within Gen Z. So, you have the Gen Z that were kind of
32 becoming adults during uh previous to CO like so there's pre-lockdown and postlockdown. So, pre-lockdown are the ones that like they graduated high school, they had college life, they moved out of the house, they started working. That's Gen Z1. Gen Z 2 are the ones that were still in high school. Um so they missed out on all the social stuff like going to prom and like um you know all like like football games, whatever, right? And he says that they're actually not like in cahoots with each other because their experiences are different. They call these ones statistics. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Facts. Bar can talk to them without even moving his mouth. He's just blank. Just telepathies. Yeah. They just they just walk around like this. They don't no eye contact. It's just Are the um you know the
22 massive layoffs that are happening in the in the strip? Are those all Gen Z workers? Yo, that's crazy. I I I heard it's because um it's actually Gen Z customers. So like every generation Yeah. they can bring in a new crowd in Vegas, but because of lockdown, like the party scene just died and gambling is not an in-person thing anymore. And and buying alcohol. So like Jenzi doesn't they don't drink. Oh really? Yeah. They don't drink. They don't ride Harley's. They don't buy alcohol. They're just like So they don't go to clubs and they don't I think they gamble but they don't gamble in casinos. I think it's buying Pokemon cards. Yeah. Literally. Actually that's still our gen. They're ████ losers. Well, too buys Pokemon cards. Well, he should be buying Pokemon cards. I saw I I saw two guys getting into a
12 fight in front of a a Pokemon card vending machine. They're both like 35 years old. Yeah. And they're just And they're ████ carrying each other. Yeah. Dude, put like Taika should be able to buy, but now he can't because it's getting bought out by all these people that are scanning the pack to know what's in it. And they and these cats will they'll line up outside where the machine is when the doors open. So, no kids even have time to get off school and go to the store. He has a less of a shot getting like rare cards now. No, they're gambling online because why why leave the house? And then they they um they gamble Pokemon cards, collectibles, cuz our generation was like sneaker heads and reselling that. Like if I was a young gambler and I saw like the influencers I was looking up to doing their Twitch gambling, I would think that's cooler. And if I went to a casino and everyone's old, I'd be like, "No, I'd rather just I will say this though, they're still building plenty of casinos down in in Vegas. It's not like they're
03 they're it's gone." You know what I mean? Oh. Yeah. It's not gone, but but that's the reason they're laying all those staff off. I have no idea. I I heard that they didn't do well last year or something like that. But damn. But it could be a that plus the economy whenever there's like, you know, things aren't going so hot. Last year, Formula 1, right? So two years ago, that one they didn't do that anymore either. Two years ago, Formula 1 killed it. Like we're talking like it crushed numbers, right? And then there was a huge drop off for year two because I think everyone just wants to be there for year one. Yeah. So all these whales are flying in from Japan and ████ from Dubai and all that. And then for two, not that interesting, right? So I think it it had a huge fall. There's going to be 10 years of this contract. But I think they were they were anticipating a bigger growth spurt than they got. And so I think they're having to pull back.
53 I also heard they had a tall order. The way that they did Formula 1 is like by the time it gets to Vegas, you already know who the winner's going to be. So it's not exciting. Oh, I see. Cuz you know how they they travel throughout the world and by the time the points are all tallied up, you already like Mario Kart, you already know like who's going to win. Anony's going to win. Vegas. Yeah. Also though, like I feel like the way that the hotel structure works is it's more like um giant sporting events or it should be, right? like you, sure, there's ticket prices and stuff like that, but the whole thing is an ecosystem where it's like as long as you can get somebody to want to go to the game, the concessions, the merchandising, the parking, like all of that is what really fuels the entire like economy of that. True. Right now, the hotel prices in Vegas, they're so
44 expensive. So, it's like parking too is crazy. Like, why don't you drop the prices so that people get in the doors after that? They're going to blow all their money gambling, going to the club, fine dining, shopping, whatever. Cuz they're pe you just need people there. It's like $24 for a drink on the strip. Like what do you I do think that's where Vegas ████ up is like even me and people that like to frequent Vegas. Like they nickel and dime everything. And it used to be the opposite. Like that used to be the place where you get the deal amenities. Yeah. Yeah. Free valet, like everything, right? Dude, I really like that there's a lot of Gen Z workers in Vegas though. Yeah. Like uh like Vegas the suburbs or Vegas the street? Suburbs. Oh yeah. I really like that you go to like a cafe, the freaking car wash. It's all like young kids. Yeah. Fab Freddy's. It's all young kids and they're like motivated and cool. Yeah. Well, there's a smoothie spot next to us
34 that uh I disagree. Tropical ████ Yeah. Every time Nikki's like, "Hey, can you go to Tropical?" I'm like, "Oh my ████ god." Cuz it's always I walk in there and the kids are like on the phone like I ████ hate that. It's the worst. That's like Dutch Bros. Oh, is it like that? I love the Dutch Bros style. No, Dutch Bros. They have really good attitudes. No, they're they're dope, but like when you uh It's because ironically, every time I go to Dutch Bros, the the car line's always so long. So, I'm always looking at Nina, I'm like, "Dude, I'm just going to walk up and order." But I feel like they're so known for people just doing the drive-thru that when you like go up to the window like sometimes you got to be like, "Hello." And then they're like, "Oh, sorry." And they're all just like chilling. Yeah. Anyways, Dutch Bros is tight cuz Dutch Bros reminds me like In-N-Out workers like they're always on. Oh yeah. Seeing like seeing like young kids like working at places in in the
24 suburbs in Vegas reminds me of the type of employees we would see when we were that age. That's true. Like at malls, you know, like all the malls were like people from school. Why is it that there's more people in LA, but you don't see that many young folks working? No, I think that there's an interesting way that places like In-N-Out structure their businesses to incentivize people who want to work hard because you can actually work your way up the ladder and get into corporate that I think is is missing from a lot of these other businesses. Chick-fil-A does that too, right? Yeah. You could own you could end up owning a Chick-fil-A. That's the only way, right? You have to like work your way. Even McDonald's, right? Respect to them cuz they're like you can't buy McDonald's unless you work at McDonald's. Like that's pretty Yeah. You can't. You have to go to McDonald's University or wherever the ████ Oh yeah. Yeah. Oh yeah. I'm not doing it at Burger King. I don't give a ████ at Burger King. Don't give a ████ Burger
14 King. They're throwing the food at you. Yeah. Yeah. Thanks for finding out. Thanks for get out. Get out of here, you schmuck. I watched this video where um you know it's kind of like a Jubilee style where Gen Z were talking to boomers about like the economy and like the stereotypes they have of each other and all that. And these Gen Z guys actually made a good point about they didn't grow up in an era where like like boomers grew up in an era where everything's growing and there's hope of like you're loyal to the company. Yeah. You get a company car one day. Exactly. And then but then uh Gen Z group in the era where they see their boomer parents and everyone working so hard getting laid off, working so ████ hard and then like they work themselves to death. They don't see their family, whatever. So then their
04 generation is like, well, I don't want that and I don't want a materialistic life. Boomer Gen X guys, they are all about keeping up with the Joneses. I'm going to keep working and they're workaholics, right? Acquiring more ████ Yeah. So I think it's like almost a protest but going so far off of the deep end of the pendulum swung the other way. Yeah. And it's like you're so you're so hopeless to the point where I mean I even respect people that go off the grid. And then if you're really about that anti- capitalism ████ then you're like still working but now you have a lifestyle that you carved out versus I do think there's a segment of J Gen Z worldwide. Like even in China there they call this thing called let it rock where you just kind of like don't do ████ So you just rot away in your bedroom. You don't ████ work. You're just like what's the point anyway? And I think that's happening worldwide. I do think
54 hella boomers right whenever they lecture any generation about stuff. It's like bro you bought a house for like $9,000 and it went to Yeah. It went to a million dollars like within 30 years. We get it. Now you got all the buying power going. But don't Yeah. You really bought at a great time. like don't do this like I'm a ████ I'm a now I know how to use the work the real estate market all this kind of ████ that the boomers kind of do. Yeah. This boomer was even admitting that like he he saw the whole progression of when he started the workforce um the the job stability was a thing. Yeah. So company loyalty made sense. But he goes I see now like yeah companies they open they close they get they get bought everyone gets fired. Yeah, but they get bought and then they go, "Hey, you're paying all these employees with, you know, um, retirement stuff, so let's get rid of that." All
46 that stuff's crazy. So then the next generation, so like, why should I work hard then? Because look at my uncle who gave 30 years to this company and he just got ████ So it's like, oh, that makes sense, too. Or they got shoved out at the end before they were able to get the retirement just before somebody comes in, buys it, and then like, oh yeah, let's get rid of this guy cuz he's about to hit retirement age. If like if Gen Z is the generation that has like the least accountability, I don't know if that's like a true stat. If it is, that sucks that most of them are getting fired cuz they won't learn why. I don't buy it. They'll just be like, "Sunglass Hut sucks." I think every generation thinks the younger generation is lazier than ████ But there are like I think there's always different problems, right? The new generation is going to be soft or whatever. Yeah, that's what Of course, if you're a World War II vet, you're going to think boomers. We can't compete with how hard you are. You killed somebody and then
37 you're going to look at your son and be like, "You're a ████ You're a p████." But you're not that hard anymore, are you, old man? I have to go like that. I I clang a pot together. You're freaking out in the kitchen. What What are they called? Um silent generation. That's the the World War II vets. And those Yeah. Boomers are their babies. So that's our grandparents kids. They're freaking crazy. Which our parents' generation is boomers. That's true. Yeah.
