00 Any of you guys can answer this question, but I would like to know from your perspective, what is the biggest difference between dating a white guy and an Asian guy? >> Any [laughter] of us can answer this. >> Yeah, Bono, what's the difference? >> What? Is it pretty much the same or are there like what's the biggest change? >> The biggest difference is the cultural understanding. >> Okay. >> Um because I feel like when you're dating out of your culture, especially with them like immigrant Asian parents, right? Um there are certain things where you feel like you have to explain, you know, oh yeah, sorry, it's just like that or >> Right. >> you know, they they just always diss us, that's just how they talk. >> Oh, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. >> Did you ever have to like um like try to like change or mold some

50 parts of him? Like, "Hey, you got to do this when you meet my mom or my dad." Did you ever have to like do that? Or do you let him just be and then you kind of like curate the interaction later? >> Explain the outcome. >> Yeah. >> When I was younger, I was not rebellious, but I was more of like a I was kind of almost fighting my culture more. So, it didn't I didn't have to feel like I needed to prep ex-boyfriends because I'd be like, "If they don't like you, ████ it." >> Oh, okay. >> You know what I mean? >> Yeah. >> So, I wasn't really in a mentality of like, "Oh, I need to impress them." or anything like that. I think that more um that happened more now, maybe, like in my 30s. >> Yeah, cuz if you um were with like a Chinese boy or whatever, you don't have to prep [laughter] him for anything. >> Why is that funny? Yeah, they right there you get it. >> know my parents are just the same."

41 >> Yeah. But or like maybe the only thing with prepping is like, "Oh, we have to take our shoes off before, you know, you enter the house." and stuff like that. >> Uh-huh. >> Yeah, I feel like that would that's the main difference. >> But it's also don't your parents give them like a like a foreigner pass? Like I know a lot of Asian parents they >> Um they actually are way nicer if you're non-Asian cuz they don't expect you to know. >> They don't expect you to know. >> It's almost like they're animals anyway. >> Oh my god. >> [laughter] >> You would think. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, and then it's it's not even like it's almost like other. Like you could be black, Mexican, white. That's just to them one group. >> It's true. >> And then but then if you're it's like it's like different levels too. It's like if you're Japanese or like if you're Chinese, then you got to know the

31 culture. And then one separation apart, if you're Asian, then they're like I expect a little bit more from you. >> And there's so many expectations that they already they already burden on you. >> But they give you more of a leeway than the inner culture. And then the other, they're just like they're all going to be animals. It's okay. >> Right, yeah. Did you have like what about in navigating the relationship itself? Do you feel like Asian guys uh made different decisions than like white guys for certain like issues in a relationship? Were they more jealous, less jealous? Were they whinier? Anything different in that way? Were they like less sensitive about your concerns or emotions? Or was it kind of just all across the board same deal? >> I don't think it had anything to do with race. I think those are just personality

21 upbringing differences and based on cuz you you react based on the experiences that you have. So jealousy doesn't come from culture. It comes from what happened to you in your past relationships or your parents or whatever. >> But if you had to make a chart out of how jealous all of them were. So your white boyfriends would like smoke cigarettes while squatting outside next to their Civic. >> [laughter] >> No. I never dated anyone who smoked. >> Okay. So no Vietnamese guys, huh? >> Maybe one one person I dated who smoked, but he was like Guatemalan or something, I don't know. >> Guatemalan? [laughter] >> He was Guatemalan and white. >> Did your white boyfriend white boyfriends ever put fat laces through their Chucks? >> [laughter] >> That's funny. >> No. No.

11 >> See, there's a lot of cultural differences and choices. >> Okay, okay, okay, okay. >> Fat laces [laughter] through the Chucks. Is that a Is that a turn on? >> Um I don't know. In terms of navigating relationships, I don't feel like I don't know. I don't feel like it was that much to erase other than the the having to explain what it was like to be around family or even like our food. Just kind of the obvious stuff. >> Were more of the Asian guys that you dated like very Americanized? Or did you ever date us ████ fresh off the boat, fool? That had an accent and ████ >> That had an accent? No. But like first generation Asian, yes. But not like fresh off like >> I love you, banos. >> No. >> [laughter] >> All right. None of those? All right. I don't remember any of those. >> There weren't cuz there weren't any.

02 >> So you don't feel like there was any real cultural difference, really, between like the the white guys and the Asian guys you've dated? >> Like dating culture-wise? >> What about the What about like is is one more like I guess more chivalrous than the other at all? >> Do all the Asian guys pay or is Do they go Dutch or like white guys like go 50/50 or like >> All of them are you, dude. >> Else? Okay, I wasn't dating Goofy. Um [laughter] Um I would say the Asian guys wouldn't ever let us split it or let me take like the next one. But the white guys were more willing to say, "Okay, you can have the next one." But we always wanted to pay the first one, right? Uh cuz the nice thing to do is to always offer, at the very least. Asians almost all never let

53 me pay at any point. >> like the two uncles fighting at the Chinese restaurant. Yeah. >> So, I guess that is a pretty big cultural difference. >> Did you have a preference either or, or you didn't care? >> Mm, you mean like being able to pay? >> Yeah, like did you Which one did you like better? >> Um >> Being forced into not paying or like having the option? >> You know what's interesting? Um back then I would have rather wanted to pay sometimes because I wanted to feel like I want to be able to take care of myself, and I don't I want to be able to stand on my own two feet. I don't need someone to always do that cuz it makes you feel a little lesser almost at that time. Now I'm like, someone could take care of me. >> [laughter] >> You want to pay? Pay. >> That could be dicey, too, cuz sometimes they hold it over your head if they do it too much. >> Well, that's terrible. >> If it's a bad guy, you know? >> Yeah. Yeah.

43 >> What about did uh Asian or or uh white boyfriend open your car door more? Or no, is that more individual? >> Or did the white guy slam it afterwards? Or do none of them open the car door? I never open the car door for Gio. >> [laughter] >> I think that was more individual. I'm thinking about it It's a mix. It's a mix of who would do it. >> Was one more like emotional than the other, or were they just It was just like is it or more emotionally available even? Yeah, you know like how it's easier to crack like I don't know. I feel like white guys are are at least in my mind, they seem like they're more uh open emotionally. And Asians feel like they're tougher to crack. Not Filipinos. But like Chinese guys. >> [laughter]

33 >> Actually, yeah. Yeah, I would say um the white guys that I dated were more emotionally available or and more able to communicate um versus the Asian guys. And actually a difference, too, is the relationships with their families, with their moms or dads. And it's the same experience that I have, right? Like >> we don't talk to our I don't talk to my parents the same way my husband talks to his parents. >> Right, yeah. Yeah, that's the thing that made a difference, at least for me, is like when you when you see your white homies talk to their mom and dad, they're like buddies. Yeah, they're like friends. That's a weird combination. It's weird to me, too, yeah. >> And like when you'd go over to the houses it it and you it's obviously that people were still living at their parents' house, and so with the Asian ones you'd be like, "Oh, hi." And you'd be respectful, and then you and then then you go. Um but for the the white

24 culture they sit and they talk to you, and you're like, "What?" >> [laughter] >> What are you doing right now? I talked to Gio's mom way more than I talked to my own mom. >> Yeah. >> Cuz there's there's like way less formalities, and it's just like two people getting to know each other, yeah. >> Yeah, it's weird. >> Yeah. >> I actually had to practice that. It feel still feels weird to me now. I'm not used to really like talking to older like people who are older than me. Cuz you just I don't know, it's it's weird. Like I always thought it was like this, but they treat you where it's like you're both people. >> Yeah, it's strange to me, too. What about speed? Did it Do you feel like either one moved faster than the other? Were like the Asian ones more prone to like wanting to go to the next step like quicker? >> No. Quicker? No. >> They're both they're both equally horny? Equally horny? >> Yeah, they're both equally horny.

14 >> [laughter] >> How about like did did any like guys like way in the past like try to propose to you? >> What? >> Yeah, like were they like >> I've only been proposed to once. >> Oh, okay. All right. >> Yeah. >> What about their reflexes? Are both of them when you go like this like except the same? >> You know, I never checked that. >> [laughter] >> Was not checking the right things. >> Nope, nope, never checked that. >> This one's for Anthony and Steve. Cuz they're not here, so I got to ask on their behalf. Um is one smellier than the other? >> What the hell? >> Anthony believes that white guys are smellier than Asian guys. >> [laughter] >> I don't know why, but when Asian guys sweat, it's different from when white guys sweat. I don't know what it is. >> It's actually genetics. >> have BO or Well, they can have BO, but

04 it's not it is actually genuinely not the same. And I feel like this is going to be weird, but you know when you go to Korean barbecue and you talk about like meat sweats? I feel like Asian meat sweats and like white people meat sweats is like very different. >> White meat sweats? >> [laughter] >> I wonder which sweats your kid's going to have. >> That's true. I hope he gets mine. >> Cuz I think there's going to be two phases. His regular kid sweat and then post-puberty sweat. >> Yeah. We'll see. >> it is a real genetic thing though. They just came out with a the whole like Asians are missing the thing that has But it's not everyone, but it's majority of the population. Yeah. The same way that like Asians react differently to alcohol because of a genetic thing. It's the sweating and the and the scent is the same. Isn't that strange?

54 >> That is very weird. >> Yeah, but it I wonder if the the the white meat sweat is the dominant gene though. >> Oh, like kind of like black hair is? >> Yeah, yeah, yeah. >> So the stank is dominant? Yeah, stank might be dominant. >> I don't know, man. >> So he's not going to have yours. >> This I'll have to see with Taika, too. Cuz you know when they're a baby, they just always smell good even when they sweat cuz they just smell like a baby. Taika's in the phase where he's like smells like a boy. So if he's stinking like oh, what the >> But your own kids are supposed to smell worse to you. >> Really? >> It's a genetic evolutionary trait so you don't try to mate with your own children. >> Oh, I see. >> But I haven't smelled him post-puberty yet. Once he smells, then I'll know. I'm like, "Oh, you smell like mom." >> Those hot soccer days are going to be crazy. >> That's crazy. I didn't know that. >> Yeah, cuz they're they're supposed to be disgusting to you.

44 >> Yeah, I hope so. You're like, >> [laughter] >> You know, animals, they'll do it all the time. But like humans, like they needed to figure out ways to like That's not good for genetics, bro. You know? You're going to turn into the Hapsburgs. >> I thought of another difference. So, I think with the the relationships with Asian guys, it was more when we were hanging out or going on dates or whatever, it was more individual. Um and with the white guys, it was more of like a group or double dating or whatever. Like it was always like, "Oh, we're all hanging out somewhere and we're all going to do that." So, I feel like that was a difference. >> It was more collective with the white guys? >> Mhm. >> But obviously, you guys still end up going on single dates. >> Yes. >> Is it just Is it more of like a beginning phase thing? And then it

34 Or is it was just Is it just sprinkled in way more? >> It was sprinkled in a lot more. >> That's interesting. Yeah, that's different. Okay. So, it's like more you go out as a group to like the bar or like restaurants and stuff? >> Not bars. It's just like younger, but yeah. Mhm. >> Wow. You ever notice you're like, "Man, I dated a white guy, but like he's just like my dad." >> My dad? >> Like a lot of people >> white. >> Like the characteristics >> characteristics. Cuz like a lot of people end up just dating their their parents. And then you're just like, "F███! Like, what the ████ man?" Like Geo has IBS like my mom does. >> Dude. >> Like that. >> [laughter] >> It's like, "What the hell?" >> Yeah, they're similar Are there any similarities? >> I've never thought about that. >> [laughter] >> It's cuz cuz Hannah told me that recently. She was like,

24 >> Does she >> She's like, >> Does her dad? got >> yeah, he's awesome. But she's like, it's funny. She's like, I got this got with this guy so far away, but he's just like my dad. >> [laughter] >> You're just like her dad? >> Yeah. >> Wow. I guess that happened to me, too. Like, Smack and my mom have the same like wholesome nature. You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah, like the key elements of it are still like kind of like close. >> The best parts, but not the bad parts. >> Yeah, you try your best to not get the bad parts. Yeah, that's true.
