00 Welcome back to a very special episode of Careful Boys. Today we're going to introduce you to someone very important to us. Her name is Bree Lee. >> [cheering] >> Bree Lee. >> Cousin. >> Are you guys cousins? >> Absolutely. >> Somewhere somewhere to Genghis Khan around >> And are you are you embarrassed to be related to this guy? >> Not yet. >> That is so sweet. >> Dude. >> He's a good dancer. >> Oh my god. Is this the setup of all time? >> Well, now I got to be serious. [laughter] >> When are you going to drop him? >> How much did you pay her before she came on? I can't afford anything. Dude, I just broke a windshield of a >> Uh I first met Bree Lee when we were both working for Barbell Brigade. >> [cheering] >> Shout out Barbell, dude. >> How was your experience working with Bart Kwan of Barbell Brigade?
51 >> It was great. >> Yeah? >> Yeah. >> He's not within range to strike. >> being a mayor right now? >> Yeah. >> No, it was cool. >> Yeah. >> I love Barbell. I'm sad it's over. >> Yeah. But it was really fun and you were very Bree was like a master of organization, right? You would say? How did you find Bree Lee? >> Uh I think Geo found her. So, we I think we needed pretty much her role is organization. We were looking for a project manager that would eventually be like like chief of operations. And it was cuz it's like I'm mainly more of a creative director role. And Geo was like the main kind of like chief of operations, but then she was trying to be more mom. So, she was like, "Okay, we need someone to come on and help." And then eventually kind of like take that place. And then so she found she found Bree.
43 And Bree ████ crushed it. >> Bree Bree really does a good job. >> I actually applied off Asian Hustle Network. >> That's how you found Barbell Brigade? >> didn't know any of you. >> You guys listed Barbell Brigade on everywhere everywhere. She She listed everywhere. >> Like LinkedIn >> Indeed, Asian Hustle Network, all the all different places. >> What was your first impression of Bart and Geo? >> Well, actually I didn't meet Bart for a while. >> Oh, really? >> Cuz I was working with Aaron. >> Oh, yeah, cool Aaron. Yeah. And then like you were also living in NorCal, so a lot of the interactions were just Zoom based. >> Oh, that's right. >> the first one remote. You guys were still in office. So, I'm not sure when that ended. >> Oh, okay. >> That's pretty cool. Well, I warmed up to Bree right away because her love language is verbal assault. >> [laughter] >> And she does a very good job >> She's quite mean. >> breaking down all the things you like about yourself.
33 And and yeah, it's it's that kind of familiarity where you know that her insults are truly compliments and her compliments are actually insults. >> [laughter] >> Great start. >> Yeah, you're a good answer. >> So, I she's so cool. >> [laughter] >> But that's what I liked about her. That's what I liked about her cuz we needed straight-up people that get ████ done. And at that time we had this company culture, you know, like it was like during that COVID time like everyone's so ████ sensitive. So, someone did something wrong, you can't be like, "Oh, you did it wrong." It's "Why did you word it that way?" Like everything or like, "Why did you come late?" Like we just need things to be done and said and pointed out so we can fix it. The issue isn't the issue, the issue is how quickly can we fix things? And she was really really good at being straightforward about things and taking things that way, too.
23 >> Would you agree with that assessment of your personality? >> Personality? Especially when it comes to work. >> Oh, really? Yeah, because you've you've had some pretty I guess like you worked in a casino? >> 10 years. >> 10 years in a casino? >> Yeah. >> And what was your position? >> Before I applied, I was a manager. So, like a floor manager, kind of like a pit boss here. >> You were a pit boss? >> Pit boss. >> Pit boss Bree. >> So, can you tell what people look like when they're counting cards and cheating? Are you good at spotting that ████ >> Dang, dude. >> But in card rooms, so California it's card rooms cuz it's it's not legal to basically bet against the casino. So, you're playing against a corporation. So, you'll see like a player sitting and they're pretty much the dealer's hand and then they pay out. >> Oh. >> So, you're not playing against the casino at all. Similar to where your dad went. >> Yeah, Commerce. Is that just like a loophole? >> It is. So, all the the casinos in LA
16 >> Cuz they all play like their blackjacks like 22 or something. >> Yeah, that's that's like why they're they're their craps cuz they can't roll dice in California or something. That's why they do it with two cards instead to show the cards. >> Roulette too. Roulette has cards at some of them, yeah. >> Wow. >> It's just like a weird loophole to still let the gambling happen. Did you ever have to catch somebody and ask them to leave for any reason? >> Um I wouldn't ask them to leave. I would just tell like the shift manager. >> To kick his ass, take him to the back? >> That was my favorite part was like setting targets on people. >> Did they really beat people's asses? >> Uh >> They break legs? >> [laughter] >> Not really. I think if I I've seen one get slammed on a table. >> Is there code like a passionate way >> Is there like like like this [laughter] like this and then like Like code? >> Um we have walkies. >> Oh, okay. Okay. >> [laughter] >> I'm like >> They'll do it coach. She's like, how about you use your ████ walkie?
07 >> [laughter] >> At the camera. >> Bree, Bree, what are you saying? >> [laughter] >> He pointed in five different directions. [cough] >> I've caught a dealer cheating before. >> A dealer cheating? >> Dealer, yeah. And this was when I was fresh in the casino, so I was like really stressed. >> the dealer cheat? >> Um do you know baccarat? >> Uh I actually saw a baccarat being played for the first time last week. >> Okay. >> So, no. >> [laughter] >> I've no ████ idea what's happening. >> So, on baccarat you're basically betting banker or player. But, there's also uh side bets like tie. So, then 9-9 tie. Um before they had shoe covers, a shoe is where the cards go. >> Uh-huh. >> Um you can pull up the cards and see the next four. >> Oh. >> Right? Well, >> Like what do you mean? Like like the dealer goes like this and you can show other people or you can show yourself? >> dealer. You yourself as the dealer. So,
58 I was I forgot where I was, but I saw the dealer like this and he was just playing with the shoe, pushing the cards back. And I was just watching him. And he goes, "Bet tie." Guy puts like 200 on tie. >> That's a side bet thing. >> Yeah, and that's a lot for a side bet. >> Yeah, cuz side bets have like really low odds of hitting, right? >> So, I'm like watching. It's like a natural tie, which is four cards, and I'm just like, "What the f███?" So, like I go I just I don't put like I don't even show him that I know, obviously. So, I just go and I'm like, "Hey, camera check this table this time." I'm not going to say ████ I'm not >> ████ snitch. >> No, I didn't snitch. I didn't snitch. >> That's her job. >> It [laughter] wasn't >> But if that's your job, why do you have to say teacher? >> Because look, if they got caught and then they were investigated and noticed that I saw, you know what I mean? Like
48 >> So, you don't get put in their file as like person who tattled, Bri Lee. >> No. >> Cuz they want to keep it anonymous, huh? That means there's also multiple of you working at the same time, so you never know who's doing what. >> For sure. >> It's funny that that's her job, but people call her snitch. >> [laughter] >> You know what's crazy? My dad's girlfriend uh was embezzling or something and then the way that they uh picked her up, she just got dragged out of the casino. >> Oh, yeah. >> Physically dragged out? >> Yes. She's in the middle of dealing, two of Commerce Casino security just picks her up and she's floating in the air and just They they they purposely make a scene out of it. >> do. >> Oh, is that for all the other employees? For everybody? >> So, in California especially, they will wait until you steal over a certain amount. So, they'll investigate you for a long time. >> Right. >> But they won't tell anyone else in the casino. So, it's like only like the
38 managers know, uh the owner will know, but they'll send the police to your table as you're dealing. It's so embarrassing. >> get lifted and you just And then my dad was like, cuz my dad's very goody two-shoes. He's like, "I ████ told that ████ you can't ████ steal. There's cameras everywhere." So, she was just skimming off the top or something like that? >> Yeah, so like the way the dealers are, maybe it's for poker or something, but like um when you're a dealer, you know, you have like your chips and that's kind of like your little cash register. Each one is technically like your own little bank. So, you're in charge of every single dollar that comes in or comes out. So, when you move tables, you seal it and then you go over there. And I think her numbers weren't adding up or whatever. And so, yeah, she just got lifted. I don't know how long that she was investigated for and she just ████ >> Dude, I think I would totally get caught. That's not a test me moment. I think if you put like
28 if I had to play that position, I think I would totally start stealing after a couple years. >> Cuz you just look at the poker chips. >> Yeah, I think I would just start getting comfortable. >> You see a circle that says a thousand. You're like, "What's one on the floor?" >> Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. >> No, big deal. >> That one I feel like I would fall into. >> So many people steal. >> That's what I'm saying. >> How common is it that a person in your position is the one stealing or cheating? >> Uh less common, but they'll be part of like a scheme. So, say like say I'm a dealer. Like they'll have a group, meet outside, and then they have a plan. They know where like the the cameras don't see. >> Oh, because they're all inside guys. >> Or they'll even bring in customers. >> Bring in customers? Oh, just like fake players? >> Well, they'll be real players, but they're part of it. I think the biggest one was uh do you know tiles? It's the most Asian game. >> Asian like >> Like mahjong? >> It's pai gow tiles though.
19 >> Oh. >> Not double hand. >> Okay. >> Um so, in California basically the dealers that deal tiles either know Vietnamese or Chinese. Okay, there's no like ABCs. >> No Korean allowed. >> Yeah, no Koreans. >> Oh, for sure. >> No Mexicans. >> No Koreans allowed. Um so, players everyone at the table speaks those languages. So, cameras, security, they don't know the game. They don't know the payouts. The banker for sure does, knows language, too. And they I don't even know how long this went on. But they would pay out every single hand. >> Every single hand? >> Every single hand. So, >> Isn't that like a dead giveaway that there's something weird going on? >> I don't know because the security doesn't know the game. So, they can't
09 say, "Oh, that's weird." Like >> just hearing Chinese or Vietnamese the whole time. >> Well, they're they're watching. >> Oh. >> [laughter] >> They're watching. They're not even playing a game, dude. They're just stacking tiles, paying money. >> They look for commotion and all that, right? >> All you're doing is just shuffling ████ around. >> They're like, "All right, start yelling." >> Yeah. >> [laughter] >> The ████ ducks. >> They're all bunch of ABC guys. >> No, but as he's getting paid still, no mind. But yeah, like they took so much money and >> Just being Chinese. >> Once they found out they were being investigated, they took off to China. >> They took off to China. Bunch of Vietnamese guys. That's cool. >> Both Viets and Chinese. >> Hey, I'm glad they made it out, dude. I'm glad they made it out. Those are my guys, probably. Shout out tiles. Shout out tile cheaters. Those are
59 definitely my cousins. >> [laughter] >> When did you stop working for the casinos and why? >> Um I stopped during COVID. So, >> Because it was shut down. >> down. It shut down, I think, for 2 years. >> You didn't want to be a virtual dealer or something like that? >> Dude, if if I knew about that here, I totally would have. >> Really? >> Hell easy. Yeah. But um we shut down and then they ended up opening outside. So, you could have like a tent. It would Yeah. >> The California loophole. >> California is crazy. They built a huge tent and then had tables out there, freezing cold. >> improvising, okay, dude? >> Yeah. >> To get a deal 6 ft away. >> [laughter] >> Uh I can see your card. Redeal. Oh. >> I um yeah. >> Got you. Here you go. >> [laughter] >> No, it was a horrible. So, yeah, I
50 I ended up getting toe surgery. I had a bunionectomy. >> Oh, ████ >> Why? >> know what a bunion is? >> Cuz you got the bunion taken out, right? >> Yeah, they shave it down. Well, they break your toe. >> or >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. >> Was it really Was it really rough living with that? >> Yeah. >> Wait, can you break it down and tell us what happened? >> So >> They broke it, right? >> [laughter] >> So, you're confirming? >> They ████ broke it. No, um >> That's illegal, dude. >> So, a bunionectomy is the bunion is on the edge of your big toe. >> Yeah. >> Um most Asians actually have it. >> I I think I have one. >> My grandma had a fat ass one. >> [laughter] >> So, um as a floor, I had to be on my feet all day, so I was wearing flats, not heels, um and it just hurt. So, I looked into the surgery and I was like, "F███ it, I'm just going to do it." And it was horrible.
40 >> What? >> Horrible. They're like, "Oh, yeah, 3 months, uh you'll be fully good to be on your feet." It took me 6 months to get out of a boot. >> ████ >> My incision Okay, most incisions are about like an inch, maybe. Mine is like 2 in. >> What Did you have a very special bunion? Like it was >> cuz my feet are big. >> Oh. >> I'm guessing. I don't know. >> So, what do they do? They They have to make an incision and then like sand it or grind it down on the inside? >> so they slice it open. >> Are you awake? >> No. Fully out. They slice it open, uh break your big toe. >> Oh. >> And then they screw it back together, straight, and then they shave it. >> Oh. Wow. >> So, I only got one done. They won't do two at once, so I was like, "F███ that." >> You can't do two at once cuz you'll be in [laughter] two boots. >> he can't even walk. That makes sense. That makes sense.
30 >> Can she just be in a wheelchair as well? >> Pretty much. >> I mean, I got both of my eyes done at the same time. It's just like >> [laughter] >> Why is he smiling like that? They go They didn't go like, "Hey, we'll do one so you can still kind of see with the other one and then >> That's different. >> [laughter] >> But yeah, do not recommend. >> You wish you had just kept your bunion? >> Yeah. >> Wow. >> You said but you said most are 1-in incisions. You just happen to get a 2-in 2-in one. So you don't recommend it or your unique situation was just terrible. >> It My My unique situation was terrible, but I think it if it really hurts, then yes, get it, but it you could just change your shoes. >> You just wear Jordans all the time probably. >> Yeah, just get Etnies. >> Yeah. >> Get some Crocs. >> I Yeah, I would just wear wider shoes. >> Yeah, wide toe box. >> Yes. >> Some gloves. >> Uggs. [clears throat] >> Just Just wear the shoe box.
