00 Do we think fancy dining is actually ass? Check this out. >> We went to an extremely fancy meal outside of San Francisco and it was lost on us. I'm a meat potatoes kind of guy. >> So duck foam confit. I was like, I don't know. I'm sure as duck foam goes this is fantastic. But how late is Burger King? >> They all come out on different plates. Like they went and shopped at completely different stores. >> For every plate for every dish. It was just again, it was part of the experience. It was part of the allure. Oh, there's a square plate and now there's a tiny square plate with an enormous dish and a huge plate with a prawn. >> [laughter] >> I'm like, really we were trying to guess the next course like what size plate is this going to be on? >> Do we agree? What do you think? >> You know what? I I I believe what he's saying. I never trust when celebrities

51 say that cuz they just They're trying to connect with the man. They gain too much from seeming like you and I. >> Yeah. >> Even if he's Even if he's telling the truth. >> Even Steve Carell? >> Even Steve Carell. >> He's not a man of the people. >> I just don't think they live in the same world as us. >> It's true but he earned it by being a one a man of the people. >> He did live in the same world as us. >> Yeah, but that's been so 30 years ago. >> been so many years, dude. >> But he he's like like people like Adam Sandler are spotted in the wild. Just playing pick up basketball. >> You see him waiting at gas >> Keanu Reeves in the ████ train. >> We don't see him just in the wild at a Burger King. >> No, he's actually eating from Burger King. >> That's what he's talking about. >> You also don't hear Adam Sandler talk about it as much as you see him do it. >> Yeah. >> So that's I feel like that's more of like a goes inside. >> But fine dining in that whole world though, it's like getting into like modern art or like you're not it's not

41 even about the food like just the food anymore. But what does make me laugh though just like with modern art and all that is like how s█████ like at the end of the day I think the food should taste good. I agree. It'll be like ████ garbage. Like I remember we We to Joel Robuchon, right? Cuz he has like all these ████ It's not even fine like that fine dining, but it's like yeah, Michelin star. Everyone hyped out like hyped up how Michelin star places are the best in the ████ world. And I think that was probably one of the worst places that I ate at. And it's because the the the meat was oversalted. It was just like crap ████ service. Like they were just The waiters were making fun of us practically. Like laughing at us call like they're probably like thinking we're just a bunch of trash and ████ I don't know, man. I was like, this is What makes this good? Like What is What

31 makes this $300 a plate? I do think >> Yeah, it's a different world because I we probably just don't understand it cuz it could be us watching a laser show going, "This is a bad movie." But it's not meant to be a movie cuz what I think we're looking for food or whatever. But them they're might like tickle tickle my mouth. >> It's It's like going to like a It's like concept cars, right? It's not for practical use. Yeah, it's like but it's the art behind it. But I'm I'm thinking that the art should also be tasty. >> Still tastes good. Uh >> At the core of it it should, right? >> At the core I'm just too trash for ████ like this. Like I will literally sit there and be pissed that I'm getting small food and like like all big plates and small food. >> I I also want to be full, too. >> Same. I went to this douchey ass place in Austin, Texas and my buddy was like nonstop talking it up and we went there

22 2 years ago and it's just one you get one sushi at a time the whole time. So there was nine plates that come out. So you get nine pieces of sushi the whole time. And when we left I was starving. >> You know that's a old money thing? >> Is it? >> A lot. Like I didn't know this, right? And but this is like I guess a stereotype that people that know old money, they don't eat that much. >> Got it. >> They It's just a thing of like they small portions. >> My buddy is definitely new money. So he just He just likes the douchey experience. >> Like like even in like yeah, like at home like they don't eat that much. It's like a whole thing. Like, I don't know what it is, but you know what's funny, too, is that somewhere there's going to be like people at the top echelon of this that look down at us complaining about fine dining, and they're like, "They think that's fine dining?" >> Yeah. >> Cuz I think most most fine dining that's even accessible to you and I >> Yeah. >> is just emulating the true fine dining.

12 >> And those experiences are in behind closed doors. They're the kinds this fool ends up in when he travels and ████ You know what I'm talking about? Cuz I've been there, too. >> Were they all hunted some little boy in the jungle and they they killed him and made confit out of him? >> You end up like It's true, though. You when you travel with celebrities, you end up eating at things that don't even exist. You eat like at this room at the top floor of a place that's not even a restaurant, and only this guy only cooks for you, and you're like >> And there's like four employees that only exist for you, and it's like they open the door, and it's like a giant big hall only for you, and you're like, "You know what? I think I'm okay with fine dining." >> But there's a difference, though. This I have to relate when it's given to you for free, doesn't matter. It's the greatest thing you you're you're you are This is the greatest thing I've ever had in my life. >> Everyone's looking at you for your reaction. It's delicious. >> Counterpoint, if it's given to you for free, you have to be overly

02 complimentary and pretend like you dig it. >> That is true. You're right. You're right. >> But when it's given to you for free and you're over complimentary and everybody loves it, you're you're already in a great time. It's great. So, it is fine dining is the experience. I don't even remember what I ate. I I do remember having ████ duck confit, foam, weird ████ I have no idea what it tastes like. I think it was good. But the point is was the ████ 25-year-old Macallan next to it at the same time? Yeah, that's going to be better than Burger King at any hour. >> You know, so what about Dr. Pepper, though? >> So, yeah, absolutely. Get out of here. >> Dr. Pepper extra ice? >> I don't think so. >> What? [laughter] You're just trying to start a debate. >> I don't think so. >> Yeah, you don't even know fine. That's all. >> You don't even know fine. >> [laughter] >> Dude, the last time I went to fine dining, it was like a little fancier Hawaiian restaurants type of thingy, and I was like, like, "This is too small. I need I need to order like Spam or something. So, I was like, can I order a side of Spam?

52 >> Yeah. >> She like, "Oh, absolutely. It's going to be around $10." I was like, "10 ████ dollars?" >> They don't have Spam at fine dining, [laughter] bro. >> No, but it's like a fine It's like a fine dining Hawaiian spot. >> Nothing is $10 at fine dining. [laughter] >> It was like for me it was fine dining. >> You got about like a high-end like looking Yeah, yeah. >> Higher end like Hawaiian spot ████ >> Liliha Bakery. That closed. >> Just a higher end, you know, whatever. Okay, look. This This is how they pulled up when I ordered extra Spam. I'm thinking $10 I'm thinking like couple slices. You know what I mean? Like You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Well, plate they came up super high. You can't see that plate. >> [laughter] >> You can't see what's on top of it. >> Elevated dining. >> Yeah, they just go like Spam? And I'm just like, yes. I'm over here thinking five. It's just like this Just one in a big ass plate.

43 One piece of Spam. Grilled. >> What are we talking about? >> Spam in a fine dining place. >> No, so it's like a fancier Hawaiian spot is what I was trying to say. >> I think that's called a scam, not a Spam. >> [laughter] >> That's good. >> That's what I'm going, sir. >> Okay, scam musubi? Okay. >> Scam musubi. And the And the last dining spot was with Dom at Disney that restaurant. >> he loves those. >> What I would What I What I would pay like couple hundred for is omakase sushi. Cuz I feel like that's worth it. >> Okay. >> See, I did that I didn't appreciate it. >> But that's when you already know quality of fish, too, though. You're already going specifically You would never omakase just for the the the chef's style and the same ████ fish. >> Just go to rotating sushi and close your eyes. It's the same deal. >> [laughter] >> I had omakase sushi I couldn't tell

33 difference between that and Sugarfish. Like it was the same ████ to me. >> Okay, that's fair. >> Wasabi and shoyu? >> Well, you know what half of the times fine dining really is is you're paying to not be with the other customers, too. Like if you go to a legit one, it's it's private. You got to reserve. There's only a few seats. And then like it's at least like 300 bucks a person. And that's without the alcohol. And then every single time I've had it, I don't think I've been disappointed. But I think with the fine dining stuff, it's not always like yum like it doesn't taste good. Like it [laughter] just it just comes out and it's a boiled ████ carrot that's peeled nicely. And then you're just like it's just a ████ carrot that's in a shape of a ████ swan or something. >> you want to know the the person who prepared it suffered. >> [laughter] >> I was in on tour in China and yeah, we were going to fine dining all the time. It was so desensitized that even the artist one

23 time was like, oh, this place is going to have the best like this one dish. But before we go, we should stop by a McDonald's. Maybe eat one burger first. >> That's so funny. >> And he was super like realistic about it. Yeah, let's >> Damn, that's real. >> Yeah, so we would go, we'd get like a Big Mac. >> Who said that? >> Luhan. >> I was going to ask if it was Luhan. Damn. >> I >> He's so chill. He said, "No, no, no, it's so good, but we're going to be hungry after. Let's eat a burger first. And then we'll go there. You have to try this one dish though." And you're like, "F███ yeah." Like at least you're level-headed enough to understand that at the end of the day a meal is supposed to give us sustenance and satiate. >> Yeah, like I don't care enough to like just be like, "Oh, that was so tasty. It was great, but I'm I'm hungry." >> You know what's one thing that I did realize though, and I will be fair and have this point. So like back in the day my ex worked at SLS at the bazaar. And so we could get bazaar like that's a

13 pretty fancy place I guess to our standard back then. >> Beverly Hills? >> Yeah, and it was like uh >> That's like Jose Andres' place, right? >> Yes, yeah, exactly. It was the fanciest food I ever had. And we could get a bunch of it. >> That's fancy, yeah. >> Hooked up. So where it would actually be like, you know, otherwise it's so unaffordable. So we had cotton candy foie gras, all that stuff. And I remember being like, "Dude, this ████ sucks." And everything they brought out was like, "This sucks, this sucks. But then I realized, you know, a part of me is also wanting to be I guess too good for it in a way because I I can't afford it. I'm not part of this culture. So, I want to act like I don't like this ████ >> iconoclast. >> Yeah, exactly. So, you kind of a little bit of you if you already don't like the idea of it, you're also not prone to changing your mind. Cuz I didn't want to admit that like anything was good even if it was. It might have tasted bad cuz

03 of that attitude. >> That's true. >> I don't know that. >> I think I'm predisposed to not like fancy dining stuff because of that. >> Yeah. >> I think that's kind of there a little bit. >> Oh, that stuff like Louis Vuitton I'm like, oh, that stuff so ████ fancy whatever. And then I think one time I was like actually looking at a purse and I'm like, damn, this thing actually is made pretty ████ well. >> [laughter] >> Yeah. >> I'm like, this is hand-sewn? That's crazy. >> I used to think that jeans from Target or Walmart are the same as fancy jeans and then I actually got a pair of Diesel jeans like in like 2008 and it was the best jeans I ever had. They're the most comfortable [laughter] ████ jeans and they lasted forever. >> Yo, that's Fashion is pretty much same. >> Yeah. >> You know, it looks stupid to us from this level but >> I genuinely just didn't think that like I genuinely didn't get it and then I got a pair and I was like, wow. >> I feel the same way about leathers. You

53 know where they say when something says genuine leather, that's actually not good leather. >> It's like particle board. >> Yeah, it's fake cuz you you're allowed to say genuine leather for all the grades like within the worst and like the highest. There's like a different phrasing for the real leather. And I didn't even know that. I'm like, oh, genuine, great. >> It means real. >> Yeah, but it doesn't. >> Yeah, I had no idea. >> Yeah, there's so much ████ like that. But yeah, part of it is also me wanting to act like I'm too good. Kind of like if you if you hate improv and you go watch an improv show, you won't even know if it's good cuz you just hate it. >> winning and >> [laughter] >> being judgy. >> Right. >> I think it's also like um I just don't have a pallet that's like smart enough to know what's like better, You know, like once I hit a certain quality of something, everything else after that is beyond my knowledge of it. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> So, if you give me like it's like wine. I can't tell the difference between a

43 $20 bottle of wine and a $200 bottle of wine outside of being like, I think this one's probably better. >> Yeah. >> But, I can't tell versus some people are like they smell they're like, "Oh my goodness." >> But, but that's a good point. That's a good point though cuz it's the same it's the opposite of what I just said. Some people can make ████ taste ████ phenomenal because they wanted to. You know what I mean? Like when they're like, "Oh, nobody's had this cabernet but you." Like, "Oh, it's ████ amazing." The way they sell $2 ramen to people and they fake a fancy restaurant and everyone's like, "This is the best ramen I've ever had. I would pay $50 a bowl." It's like something in their brain. I want to do that. >> I remember Penn and Teller were were selling douchey water and it was out of a hose and all these guys were being like, "Oh, it's delicious." and all that ████ >> There's like a weird thing if you give someone enough of an idea that it there's you feed them the thing they want like the exclusivity of it. Like all those restaurants you go to with an artist is because no one else can have

33 it. Some people ████ taste that. They go, "It tastes like no one has it." >> But, I'm the guy who's like I'm still down with a Big Mac right after like easy. I'm Steve Carell. >> We did the champagne test where like we bought an expensive bottle and then we got a bottle of Andre which was like five bucks and we tested them and we liked Andre better. I think we're just trash. >> Yeah, you're you guys are definitely trash. Yeah. >> Yeah, look I'm not even drinking the best soda. This is amazing to me. >> That ████ is really good. By the way, ████ you for always stealing it from our grocery store. He lives right next to me and he it's always gone. >> It's out, bro. >> It's always gone. >> I bought the whole shelf. >> I know you do. >> stock eight at a time. >> I know. I finally got one the other day. I couldn't believe my eyes. >> They sell them for buy two get two free and they only have room for eight. >> And he steals them all. I'm not kidding. >> If there's ever a way to close out this video that shows you guys don't know fine dining is the guys who are fighting over RC Cola at the same one grocery store.

23 >> I I over RC >> zero sugar. >> You got to admit I don't know fine dining though. >> I definitely don't. >> I don't even >> The minute says foam. I don't know what foam is supposed to taste like. I don't know. >> I don't know what it feels like. >> You're pretty fancy by comparison though, I think. By comparison to the average person on average, you're still eating better. >> Yeah, you're on average regular Your daily life is fancier than the average. >> Cuz sometimes both you guys Sometimes me and Smacker like me? Yeah, me and Smacker sometimes we'll be like, "Oh, you want to like go eat with Bart Anthony?" And Smacker be like, "They won't eat here." >> [laughter] >> That's super funny. >> She thinks you guys are like hella fancy eaters. Yeah. [laughter] She thinks it's cuz you're very fashionable and then you like when you say let's eat at this place, Smacker is always like, "Wow, this is nice." >> Which place? >> Like even Yuca, she thinks it's like super nice. >> Saigon Corner? >> Yuca Korean barbecue? She even thinks

14 that's super nice. She's like, "Wow, this is fancy." [laughter] >> Wait, what do you guys eat? Taco Bell? >> Well, that's not fair then. >> [laughter] >> That's not fair anymore. >> We just buy ingredients, I guess. >> Right. That's regular. >> If you guys are at White Castle, you're like, "Oh, we should get Steve." >> Is there a White Castle in Vegas? He's probably in there. >> [laughter] >> There's White Castles in Vegas. >> Oh. It's all proportionate. >> I'm excited about the Bojangles. >> Oh, damn, dude. That's your thing.
