00 It's not hard, is it? >> Oh jeez. >> Yeah, [laughter] >> it's not hard, is it? Boom. >> He goes, "Oh ████ >> the timing." >> And welcome back to another episode of the Careful Boys, where we have the undefeated Kinato Konuto with us. [cheering] >> UFC 324 is tonight and the weigh-ins that just happened. This dude from America, Cameron Smotherman. You guys have probably all seen this clip, but we're just gonna >> Patty. Patty. Patty. >> This This is not Patty, but yes. >> No, but I want him. He's gonna be fighting. I want him to win. >> Yes, I do. >> Do you have the other view? The one with uh what's this? >> Oh, Bisping. >> Bisping. >> Oh, that was bad. We'll show that one next. Commentator. >> He's been on the wrong side of a couple of decisions.

50 >> 35 and a half for Cameron. >> Oh, >> what? Bro, his eyes are like rolling back. >> Wait, what happened? >> Oh my god. >> He didn't have electrolytes. >> Nah. No, definitely not. He [laughter] didn't have electrolytes. [gasps] >> Cuz in the way in you get so hungry. >> Wait, see he passed out or did he slip? >> He passed out. >> You talking about this view right here? >> Yeah. >> Oh snap. >> Oh, like that guy. >> Is he okay? >> He's out. That sucks, dude. Is he still going to fight? >> No. >> Oh, wow. >> For sure. ████ no. >> He cannot fight now. >> The commission won't let it happen, dude. >> You just went through a crazy weight cut in order for you to make your >> How much did you cut? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. How was that experience? >> A little bit. I cut a little bit. [laughter] >> Cut a little bit.

40 >> What's a little bit? >> I want a little bit. Well, I diet down a lot. >> Should we tell Should we Can we say how much you cut? cuz you >> I can I can Well, as far as of right now, I don't think they have like a rule for like after weight thing going on. >> Um, some some places they do. >> In California, they do, I think. >> Yeah. With that said, I was 178 going into the fight. >> And I mean, >> on fight night. >> Yeah. I was 155.4 on >> 22 lbs. >> Wa. And when you're in the cage, you're 178. >> But the water cut is not that much. my water cut. I was already dieting down to 167 the morning before. >> That's not bad. So 12 pounds. >> I went to 167. Yeah. And then throughout the day like I did like a a morning workout thing and then you know ate freaking yogurt and then I got to 166.4.

32 So then my first goal of uh the wake up the night before I got like 6.6 out. So that was good. sauna or hot or hot tub or >> Yeah. Then I go home, I eat a little bit of pineapple, two sips of water. [laughter] >> Yeah. Know, you can't sleep for night. Well, the only problem is like you don't lose that extra pound that you would. So I lo I lost like.3 >> after that, you know, only overnight and then go next morning I had to lose another four or so. So then I lost. >> Jeez, man. [laughter] >> How so? >> It's not fun. It's not fun. But for me, I didn't struggle. Like everything worked out well. I did the water the water load, right? Uh I have the whole PI thing that they are talking about like I don't know if everybody use really I do use I'm there like as a UFCJ guy. They do help me off those things. So that helps. I had all these hydration drinks that like took me an hour >> electrolytes.

22 >> Yeah. An hour and a half before exactly before I even before I even take a bite or anything, you know, I was just trying to like hydrate and then the whole day I'm feeling like >> dehydrated, mouth dry the whole day. And even the next day, the morning I wake up and I'm still like days. I was like, "This thing sucks." Cuz I did catch it the other two times. I was 160. >> This time I was 55. My teeth, you feel even your teeth like my first bites on bread was like just like plain bread. I couldn't feel like I was like like a weird, you know, when you get like cold uh sensitivity. It felt like that. >> I was like, "What the I had no calcium, no nothing probably in my body at that point cuz you get super depleted." So that is definitely what happened to that guy. like there's no sugar coding for that. Um what I think that could could change that could be a good way but again that's just me expressing my thoughts is they do checkups we use all

13 the time anyway you know for people in the UFC especially so I feel like get to that level yeah should we have more divisions that would be helpful I would love to have a division in between too so I don't have to >> what would be your ideal weight >> I think like 73 kilos would be awesome which is like 70 and 77 so you either 170 or 155 >> oh that's a big jump >> yeah so there's no 162 And there's a lot of people at >> 163, >> you know, you have a 163 there like, oh, but then again, a lot of guys will be like trying to still do that. Now, what I think is if they do surprise weight checks on everybody or at least like if you sign a fire window two months ahead, I can go and keep checking on you like we can go check like randomly and you're not going to know when they're going to come by for a whole month. You can be like more than I don't know more than 10 pounds off. >> So, you're always about 10 pounds away. >> You're pretty close to your walk. Yeah,

03 you're close to the walkway. You know what I'm saying? Like if a month out you're 10 lbs away, you should be good. Now, if you're trying to freaking, you know, really figure out when they're going to come and but you don't like if you don't know. That's my point. If you don't know, you don't know. If you know you're going to do three weight cuts, that's even worse. >> Is it to prevent like 200 guys going to 160 and fighting at that if if they if they create a new division of that weight class? >> Yeah. I also feel like nowadays we have a lot more fighters, a lot more talent to put in there, >> but I feel like back in the day wasn't like that, you So a lot of things is just like what would we call that? You know, >> a light lightweight or >> super lightweight. >> Too too many too many division. >> That's what they do. Boxy box like that. >> And there's a lot of divisions. I think it's cool. Uh uh wrestling has the same thing. Even though Olympics guys will go 73, 77. I like the idea like cuz then you can even try different divisions and see what works best for you.

54 >> But I think now we finally got to that spot. We got 7.7 billion in the bank, you know, to to invest on the sport. open it up. >> You can add more a pool. You can extend a pool of athletes. There's a lot of guys like me, Kai, and a lot of talent out there that could be in the UFC and he's just like not even enough space for each for each division at this point. You know, it's just very stacked. So, on the case of this guy, he definitely was depleted cuz dude, after I was done and I jump on the scale, I'm like, "Okay, I'm on way dude. Go tell that that I made weight." I go straight to the shower. >> No, no, you didn't go straight to the shower. You still went mñana. >> No, that was after. That was later. Okay, I just want to >> I go straight that that's me in the PI right after like checking my weight and I go straight to the shower and I'm like trying to stand up and I was like ████ this. >> Why did you go shower instead of the buffet? >> Cuz you got to go to the actual scale first. I'm saying I just check the

44 weight to see that I made >> and he hasn't showered for over a day cuz if you're trying to weigh in when you shower your skin will absorb the water. >> So that's that's a myth and I I finally figured out >> it happened to me before. >> Really? >> Yeah. >> Cuz you have to cut away for powerlifting too. >> So I I'll make weight the night before I shower. He did this time and I was like as depleted as you can be and I was fine. >> Yeah, you probably drank a water from the shower. [laughter] >> Hey, he poops in his shower. He doesn't even know. >> So he's [laughter] probably HIS MOUTH HIS MOUTH IS OPEN in the shower >> cuz you do that. You be you'll be so d you're spitting it out but you really want to drink it. >> Yeah, maybe I was drinking it. [laughter] But like cuz cuz I was scared the last fight but then I I tried it. The my my nutrition is like Fernando. He was like dude go jump in. No, this is ████ You know, this is just dirty fighters freaking thing. And I was like, I did it

34 and I was fine. And this time I was fine again. But yeah, I sat down on the freaking >> shower that all the fighters use every day and I was like, this is ████ gross. But I'm like halfway dead, you know? I'm like I could I couldn't if I had to step in right then and there, like without that cold shower, I would look like that guy, too. He probably came right off the sauna. Even getting up, you got to be careful. We know you know all these things. You know, you might pass out. Now, if his coaches all know that and everybody around him knew that, why the hell was not nobody there to to, you know, >> that's what I was thinking >> to watch him cuz he looked pretty ████ up. >> Usually after they get the scale, after they step off the scale, the coach is right there. >> That's probably never going to happen again. >> It's the kind of stuff that like had to happen. So, now they're going to have like people catching bodies. They're going to have UFC, you know, crew uh working to just catch, jump, and throw throw the >> the mattress. [laughter] That's it.

24 >> Wait, gymnasts. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Crash pad >> sucks. There's the first one in Paramount and then all that ████ happened. >> Can I find the Michael Bisp one? >> The I think the Bispin one was the best video ever, dude. >> Let me see. >> While he's looking for that, what? Okay, so after the way in as soon as you're done, do you go straight to get prime rib? Like what do you what do you do? Like what do you eat after? >> You cannot you cannot. I tried. So listen, I done I made I made all the mistakes one can be. I'm sorry. I'm joking. But I I I made most of mistakes actually cuz I get excited. I've drank too fast and stuff like that and felt like ████ after. Uh that can also ████ you up if you if you try to hydrate way too fast. >> Oh ████ >> If you eat like I ate steak the night before my second profile, the last one. And dude, I could not sleep for nothing. It was all stuck here on my chest. Cuz you got to think I'm dieting for so long and then you you shrink the whole thing. Everything gets small. Your stomach gets

14 small. Your belly sucked in. It was all stuck in my chest. I could not even like breathe. I was like taking laps in the living room trying to walk to see if the food would digest and go down. I was seeing like ████ even going into the final. I was like, "Bro, I can't ever do that again." >> Now, for this one, what the recommendations are like plain bread at first. >> Oh, wow. >> Maybe you can put a little bit honey and that's about it. And then you go rice and chicken later on. You can eat like rice and chicken, things like that. >> So, it's like you had the stomach flu and you got to eat like a baby. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> Easy digestible foods. >> Easy digestion. No, not much veggies cuz that would make you like ████ yourself probably too. >> You already like drinking so much liquid too. It's like hard to even hold. But then I didn't pee for like to the next day. I feel like >> damn >> your body just reabsorbing >> sucking. I was like Spongebob at that point. [laughter]

04 It's just soaking it all up. >> That's crazy to go through all that and have the energy to fight. >> Yeah, that's nuts. >> So because because this last one was so bad like not so bad. I actually like I said like I did fine. I did I did the protocol >> and everything worked out. I didn't have to do two saunas even. I I did like the bike 30 minutes on the on the igloo thing with the heater. >> Damn. >> The first day I had freaking >> I had I had freaking sweet sweat and I had a what do you call the >> the sa suit. >> The sauna suit and I had a hoodie over you know and tracksuit. So I sweat like faster. The next day is harder to sweat. >> You did it all in in a couple months or >> Yeah. Yeah, I want to say like within like >> uh within like even like few weeks, 3 4 weeks, you really start trimming down. But I was walking around 176, >> then I relaxed and I went up to 179 and I was like ████ And then I had to go down to 76, got stuck at that, then I

56 got stuck at 72. You get like these weights that just won't move and then it drops. But then the last week you always cut, well, at least for my diet, they cut all the carbs. With this person, the other person that I used was different. You cut all the carbs and then uh your weight drops like crazy. But the cool thing is I'm like, "Oh, I'm dieting, but I'm eating steak." In my I'm eating steak. I'm chilling, you know? But it's like a little bit of steak, nothing else. Steak and olive oil. >> M >> damn. >> But then in the breakfast, you do you do get fruits and you get like three eggs, so you're fine. You really You can eat. I don't know these guys. The the the littleer you get, the crazier it is. I feel like that's why Michael Vispin is over here, you know, saying what he's saying cuz he probably never had to do a crazy weight cut. He probably always, >> you know, uh, >> walk around pretty close >> for these guys. You got one job, show way in shape.

47 >> It's part of the contract, is it? You've signed on the dotted line. You got to go get >> professional fight. It's not hard, is it? >> It's not hard, is it? Boom. >> Oh ████ [laughter] The timing though quickly on that thing. >> He's fine. [laughter] >> This ████ is crazy. >> It's a crazy one. >> It's crazy, bro. >> Especially for Paramount for the first one. >> Like it's it's like this is going to be a meme forever. >> Don't you like I mean I'm superstitious as hell. I almost feel like it's like a curse thing. I was like, bro, this sucks. >> Yeah. >> It's like it's like it's like it's like a curse. It's like it's almost like this is wrong and he got to be exposed and here it is. Boom. You know, God goes and like >> if if if people are going to die in a sport, it's cuz of weight cutting. Like if if it's dangerous, it's because it is. >> I mean, the punch to the head helps, but but but without any water in your in

37 your brain, >> the dehydration, >> that's why people get knocked out so easy, too. That's why you also don't want to be like >> I think this is great, Mark. >> Let's let's make crazy, you know, adjustment on the way cuz I feel like people wouldn't get knocked out as much, too. >> You get better fights, you get better performance, more energy. Same way as like the Asian promotions that the guys juice up like crazy cuz they want to see the guys come in and kill people, you know, like >> no weight cuts, more steroids. That's what we should >> Yeah. [laughter] >> Is that what it is? Cuz those kickboxing ones look so energetic. >> Yeah. >> And they speed up the video like crazy, too, though. So then then it looks it looks crazy. Yeah. [laughter] Every time I watch them, god damn slow. >> It's slow as hell. They do a good job of speeding just, you know. >> Yeah. It makes it look believable. >> I didn't even realize that. Yeah. Just speed up the fights. You're not allowed to be on the ground for more than 5 seconds at a time. >> Yeah. >> And then uh >> nobody likes watching the ground fight.

28 >> Cuts weight cuts and steroids. >> Yeah. Yeah. Do it all together. >> I think >> I think it's great marketing. I don't know about you guys. >> It is good marketing. Of course, it's going to be everywhere. Now, with that said, >> I mean, it's not like you want your kids doing this anyway, right? [laughter] >> It's great marketing for the brand. >> It's tough for the sport [laughter] >> cuz you know, you have to get sanctioned per state. Now the sanctions go up. >> If I'm Paramount and I just spent $7 billion and make and the first fight there's a incredibly viral meme all over the news. I'm like [applause] >> that's dope. Yeah. But then how do you handle that? You know >> just show >> there's all the press conference and stuff and everybody's just like you know what's up Dana? >> What about that? What happened? What's up with that? >> They're going to ask him about that. >> Are we going to do something and they did you know and there's like there's no good answer. just blame him and see like

18 be like he's anem an anemic. He shouldn't have be cutting weight. >> We didn't know he was anemic. >> Where's his electrolytes? >> He gave the most Republican answer one could give. Just basically like ah I mean fighters are dumb. [laughter] I'm joking. >> He's like it's a free country. You can cut weight however you want. >> But it's like yeah it's like people always going to try find a find an edge. They always going to try to find a way which is true. Like everything said was true but it's bas like it's not on me. >> Can't do it. >> It is what it is. You know, it's like ████ happens. Yeah. He's like, "If the doctors can can explain, how can I?" He's like, "The guy said he barely cut weight." >> Oh, really? >> The guy said he cut bar literally. He made a post at least >> and that definitely would be like the right thing for him to do if he doesn't want to be ████ cooked by by everything around him, especially the UFC. Not that the UFC would do anything to him. They cannot cuz that would be

08 like terrible. He would actually get rich if if they did something. But I mean, he was kind of trying to I feel like make things look a little better than they looked. >> Yeah. >> He's like, "No, I barely cut weight. I'm probably one of the guys that cut the least weight." >> Well, it makes sense though if a skinny guy cuts even more. It's just dangerous. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Cuz then because then the little guys like think about it like who walks around which kind of guy walks around 115 >> 105 >> damn >> human adult >> fighter that trains every day lift weights run and you know you have muscle in your body. You're not just a freaking >> Yeah. >> a person that has like zero muscle density or bone density. >> Only Kenyon runners can do that. >> That's so specific, Joe. >> They [laughter] weigh more than that. They're like 125.
